  1. And the house-meshes, which don't disappear after they get demolished, because they are stocked underneath the ground ! http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?169682-the-houses-and-ruins-are-the-mp-problem

    [wip] f-35b

They weren't hiding it, in fact, some time during the alpha/beta (don't remember) there were functional opening/closing door animations for the AH for example. BI took this feature back by saying they weren't satisfied with the result, though visually it was quite nice. I heard that the real problem was the hitbox of the aircraft/car/etc... which didn't actually change when the door was open, so if you wanted to shoot or throw a grenade through an open AH, the grenade bumped against an invisible wall and came back to you *boom*

    Stencil shadows vs Shadow Maps

You have a point Robert, the problem seems to go way deeper, as the lighting system/engine can be quite game-breaking (i.e. lights shining through walls) for many players. And God knows how an ArmA afficionado hates it to be restricted in his "free will" in an open-world game, especially when it results from a graphic engine restriction...

    VBS3 snow... in ARMA 3?!?!?

When I saw this picture (again), I thought to myself :"well, at least with a snowy altis/stratis, we won't have to deal with the mediocre mid-range textures anymore"

    An Honest Review

You're misinterpretating my post. You have to understand the term "a new competitor" as another dev who would make a semi- military simulation with quite big maps and so on (i.e. "a DIRECT competitor"). I understand your point though. ArmA is a FPS, like the other famous games you're suggesting. But they are not of the same kind. It's as if you'd compare Mario Kart to Forza or pCARS.

ARMA 3 - Dropped out features

I interpret your "about it" as "about the dropouts". As honorful as it might appear, if they did this, the press would have torn them into pieces (at least way more than they did at the release), and I'm not even talking about the community itself... So yes, it would have been a fricking big deal for them.

    An Honest Review

I think we can all agree on the fact that BIS i.e. the arma series (really) needs a competitor (and no, BISim doesn't fully count as a competitor for obvious reasons).
  15. This is what I read from a developer, posted on the forum of a moderatly known graphic engine/game, concerning the Outerra engine : "But Arma3 is too soon for the technology ... and given how happy their players are now, and how mediocre their competition is, I feel nothing really bad would happen even if Arma4,5 were on the same RV engine."
  16. I tested your mod, and I can't even explain how susprisingly good it was. Truly, the improvements are huge compared to the vanilla IA. With your mod the AI really behaves more human-like. Especially in CQB, the results seam to be absolutely beautiful. Merry christmas y'all, and keep up the good work.

Not just yet. But Next Gen is Possible.

Hi everyone. Regarding the RV4 engine, one subject picks my attention sice the announcement of arma 3, precisely about directx 11. Does someone actually know what the dx11 support has brought to arma 3 ? I mean, i don't see any "star feature" of dx11 implemented in / supported by the game (such as tesselation or some nice 5.0 shaders...) .

the houses and ruins are the mp problem ...

Some clarification on BIS' side would be quite great now, whereas, is it intended that the house-models stay underground ? if not, is there (again...) a major issue with the engine (as with rivers, underground structures (oh the irony)etc...) which prevents from just deleting these in case of demolition ? I consider this issue to be top priority, as it most certainly is the cause to the "performance killer" when playing.

In your video he uses Warfx (which is for arma 2 actually, though it "partially" works on arma 3).

    Blastcore: Phoenix 2

Hey OS, at first I thought the colour of fire & explosions was quite accurate, but then I checked out some footage of explosions, and one video (actually many videos of the same event) contains valuable footage of explosions at night. As you can see the color of the detonation is very "yellowish" (quite like the colour used in your mod at the moment) but quickly (I mean, like, less than 0.5 seconds after detonation) the colour turns orange.
