Yeah, it will be impossible to design a mission file worth playing on a public server from the handful of ugly, insult-to-the-intelligence junk in the final version of the game. Eventually modders will add content worth playing with, and mission files can be created using that. But it means people will have to download and activate addons before they can play the game, so it will be hard to maintain server populations on the scale of arma2, since whereas before someone could buy the game and jump right into a wide variety of compelling, fun game modes, now that is impossible.

The UAV with LGBs actually has LGBs it can drop. Also they have removed [DEV] from servers that run the final content. And added some "showcases" That's it.

What makes you think BI will be around to develop an Arma4? What they've done is a serious catastrophe, they probably won't stay in business, especially if they spent a lot of money developing this.

Trolling is what was "released" today. I've put more than 2200 hours into Arma2, probably the same into OFP. This is a disgrace.

I don't want a refund, I paid my 34 dollars for the alpha, i took a chance. Some day modders will make something worth playing out of arma3, and then I'll get my money's worth from them. But when people start shelling out 60 bucks and getting... this. There is going to be gnashing of teeth. If the BIS employee mod says they're giving refunds, people should know. If instead it was some kind of cruel joke on the customers, that should be made clear too.

Because if it isn't, if the sentence was meant to end "if their expectations are not met, they are free to ask for a refund, but we won't give them one, we've got their money and they can go to hell" Then don't you think you probably should have said so?

It's not a military game, it doesnt have any military content. The military cancelled the comanche helicopter 9 years ago. The military doesn't use p99s or fs2000s. The military doesn't use hexagon uglies, or green frog garbage boxes. The military uses things like AH64 Apache helicopters, jet airplanes, M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tanks, Hind attack helicopters, cargo planes, m4 rifles, AK pattern rifles. You could plausibly say that instead of making military simulators, BI is making "combat games" like Call of Duty now, or Planetside 2, to be more accurate, but to call this a "military game" is to speak a falsehood.

I dont like COD or BF4, I like Operation Flashpoint and Arma2. Serious, detail oriented military simulators. Arma3 is magnificently smooth, 100x better engine. But, no content. It's a very smooth, very beautiful Island Vacation Simulator set in greece. An island where a colony of alcoholics and glue sniffers make full-size models of the objects they see in the future in their "visions." In time 3rd party modders will add content that people like me, who play Arma and run Arma servers can use to create worthwhile mil sim games using the engine. But that's not how it's meant to be. When BI develops and then releases a game, it's meant to have content in it for people to use to do this, already. Are they getting out of the mil sim business and into the beautiful-island-3d-rendering business? Or, in my case, people who wanted to buy a military simulator game, a good game, or even a game... It's unfortunate that they confirmed today that there won't be an Arma4 :( I don't think I've seen a more obnoxious or insulting 'release' in the last year than Arma3. Maybe Aliens: Colonial Marines. The island is beautiful, but I feel mislead because I was sold a game called "Arma3" when what I received is Greek Island Vacation Simulator. The bitter irony in your remark is that the only content "released" today is Call of Duty level stuff. An assortment of towns to team deathmatch in with silly guns. Why would BI try to out-Call of Duty the Call of Duty people? Why couldn't they have stuck with their roots and done what they're good at? Serious, detail oriented military simulators? What went wrong? Do you have any inside information about what went wrong?

What scenario could be played as-is? Use the insulting weapons to shoot each other in a death match until you get bored? Use the disgusting made up vehicles to blow each other up for an hour and then uninstall the game? Aside from lacking any worthwhile content, the game insults the intelligence of anyone who plays it. FS2000s? p99s? Israeli machine guns used by Iran? These obnoxiously ugly vehicles? Cars in the future all have glass roofs, so that the drivers might bake under the hot sun while they drive? Commanche helicopters? .308 kel tec rifles, with m14 mags still meticulously modeled into them, shooting imaginary magical underwater "5.56mm" bullets? This is the island of a 12 year old military enthusiast living in 1995's misfit toys. What happened to detail-oriented, serious, high quality military simulation? The "police boat" doesn't even spawn with a policeman in it. It's a guy in a tropical shirt. There isnt an ammo box with scuba gear, or with different pieces of clothing. there isn't anything. It's just an island. This isn't really Arma3. This is an elaborate joke on their fans. This is Greek Island Vacation Simulator 2013. Is BI going to fire the people who are responsible? If they didn't have the money (and they only sold about a zillion copies of arma2 during the dayz craze, so it's hard to imagine they are broke) to add new vehicles, weapons, etc to thier new game, they should have just ported their excellent work from arma2 over, the game would have been a hit. Something must have gone catastrophically wrong at BI between the release of Arma2 OA and this. Carrier Command Gaea Mission comes to mind. It's very hard to imagine how there will be an arma4 after what they've done with this.

Why are you waiting for the release? It's out already, has been for an hour. Prepare to be extremely disappointed, if you enjoyed OFP or Arma2. Spoiler alert - it's the dev build with a couple more "showcases." That's it. It's still Greek Island Vacation Simulator 2013. You can still wear colored shirts and look at the beautiful greek island. You still can't build a server for people to play on, because what is there to do? This isn't a game, it's an island. All content will have to be user-created.

I didn't play the ofp campaign or the campaigns in either of the arma games. Greek Island Vacation Simulator 2013 really shouldn't be called Arma3. This is future warfare as imagined in 1995. The commanche helicopter was cancelled 9 years ago. In the future, has iran converted to judaism, is that why they use israeli weapons? What happened to BI making war simulators?
