OPERATION PARAMOUNT Boots On The Ground 3rd Battalion The Rifles have touched down in Sangin, Helmand Valley Region, Afghanistan in an effort to prevent Taliban movement into the area. 3 Rifles are tasked with securing Sangin Town and conducting offensive operations in the Region. Command currently assess that Taliban forces are present in the South Valley with smaller Taliban elements moving relatively fast throughout Sangin, as indicated by the high number of attacks on ISAF and TNP forces. Satellite Images have provided up to date intelligence on known Taliban figures, all of whom are High Value Targets and 3 Rifles have been tasked with capturing these key figures. IED Threat Level is SEVERE – an attack is possible and can occur at any time. Use of ground vehicles has been strictly limited to emergencies only. Initial tasking for the Company have seen troops deployed to a small PB in Southern Sangin and initial paroling has revealed a network of enemy activity in the area. 1 Platoon have set up a PB and await further tasking as Company Command continue to assess a changing situation on the ground. We are Recruiting now, Pilots, Infantry Men/Women and Officers! Enlist now: http://3rd-rifles-gu.co.uk -

Operation PARAMOUNT Background End August, A Company will be deployed in the Sangin region of Afghanistan, to ensure safe environment for the local people. Reopening old bazaars, and providing safety for local population in the valley. Aiding the TNP and TNA in Sangin town along with the surrounding villages. The area we will be deploying to, Sangin, is a town in the southern province Helmand and has approximately 14.000 inhabitants. The town is located in the valley of the Helmand River. It is notorious as one of the central locations of the opium trade in the south of the country. From 2006 till September 2010, British Forces have been operating in this area, until it was taken over by the US Marines, whom successfully cleared the area around Sangin town from enemies. In 2013, July, the US Forces started to withdraw and TNA took over much of the responsibilities in the area. On the 8th August, the Taliban however launched a new assault, rapidly regaining ground in the area, reaching surrounding villages including Sangin Town. The TNA and TNP requested help from the British Armed Forces to help Regain Area, and British Forces start deploying at 27th of august. They have been tasked with building bases in the green zone. -

We are currently designing missions to replicate Operation Herrick. We use many modifications such as ACE, ACRE, JSRS, CBA, We also have our own mod pack combining smaller mods that you will receive once accepted into the recruit training phase. If you enjoy a realistic, tactical and mature group that enjoys having fun while playing, then this is the place for you. We play seriously whilst keeping an enjoyable and friendly environment around us. Background Info We are a new unit and wish to recruit the very best of those looking to play realistically on ARMA 2 CO. We were a small group of guys that played seriously and now looking to expand and recruit more members with the same mind set. We do something very different to other unit's, We allow people to apply to become an Officer/JNCO, Just like the real British Armed Forces. The only thing that will be different is your training will be extended to cover the JNCO Course we have available. We follow strict radio procedures and strict ROE, whilst on operations our main focus is to be as realistic as possible. Below I'm going to list a few of the roles we have available and what they entail, along with a short summary from a member of that section. Infantry As an infantry soldier you will be part of the Rifles front-line team, and you're likely to get involved in everything from peacekeeping and disaster relief to full-scale war. Once you've undergone your training and received the rank of private. You can expect many roles and opportunity's to open up. "Being on the ground is great, We get shot at, On the plus side we get to shoot back, we usually win! There's nothing better in ARMA then walking along not knowing if your safe or not. Because our communications are so great we really get the feeling on being deployed, Even though we are not." - Sgt Govaerts 1 Flight If flying is your thing, 1 Flight might be for you. Once you are assigned to 1 Flight this will only be the beginning of your flying career in the unit. Our Rotary training is challenging and our Pilots follow many procedures used in the real world as well. All of this gives both them and the Infantrymen they are transporting the peace of mind to know that they will make it to their Objectives safely. Transport, CASEVAC, CAS, Medevac or ISTAR's; you will have the opportunity to carry out any and all of these roles whilst flying a host of aircraft used by the British Armed Forced. And while the Flight element's focus is Rotary, the Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 for that extra bit of oomph. "I Head up the Flight element, and i love it. From inserting our guys in a Merlin or Chinook to providing cover and fire support in an Apache is great. Also you've got the best seat to the show, With a Birdseye view on the ground, It's like watching a movie sometimes." - Grp Capt Hampson Requirements: Have a clear and working Microphone Own a LEGAL copy of Arma 2 And Arma 2: OA (Arma 2: CO) Be 16 years of age or older (15 If you have a recomendation from a trusted member or NCO) Be able to attend a 3-hour operation every Wednesday And Sunday from 20:00 GMT Want to contribute and be a valuable member of the unit We have many roles within the unit.
