Arma3 and the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag (memory allocation > 2GB)
mizifih replied to fred41's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Oh! Server... but I guess the "client" is also getting a x64 overhauling, right!? I heard DayZ server was updated to a x64 build... But I never put reading into that. I don't care much about DayZ... Maybe a year from now. -
Do you have a link for the statement? Couldn't find it anywhere. Is it just speculation?

I'd appreciate an URL pointing to a official statement or comment from BI about the engine evolving into x64? I googled and searched the forum but found nothing Thank you :) -
I read somewhere that ArmA ]|[ is moving to 64-bit. I googled and searched the Forums but I couldn't find anything official. Is this a hoax or is it going to happen soon? If so, I'd appreciate an URL, something official, even a comment. Thanks guys :)

You can right click on arma3.exe, go into its properties and there, click in all user settings (or something like that, it's the huge button on the bottom part of properties window), and check to make Arma3.exe run under admin privileges everytime it runs, for every user. You can also create a shortcut on your desktop, using all the parameters and check into properties to make it run as admin. Hit me if you need help with that. -

Got it. But since I'm using Windows 8.1, and I had put my first and last name, I guess it messed with my username internally. But I'm almost sure it's using my first name only. Anyways, got it working. Thank you very much! How does this memory page thing works? I read it on Wikipedia and I thought it was something different from that page file windows create, turns out it's the same thing, right? It's just this method makes saving and retrieving data faster, putting it simple? Fred41, Thank you for your reply. I tried and I got the message saying "The text that you have entered is too long (158721 characters). Please shorten it to 50000 characters long." I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bits, 16GB 1600 with an Intel Core i7 CPU. Here's the link: http://pastebin.com/90Gs711s. -

I see people placing logs here, but they appear to be Linux, I'm assuming that. How do I do I know for fact that I am taking advantage of all this on the game. I'm using for client, the game itself, not server. I didn't notice FPS gain, so I think it's not working for me, even though the registry was definitely changed by LPManager. What should I log and how? I noticed on the question before mine that the he's using a -enableHT parameter. I have an i7 HT enabled, must I use this too? Peace, out! Thanks for all this hardworking -
Steam Workshop! Check it there. There are missions for every thing and play style. Car Racing, Karting, Jets, Heli missions... Give it a try.

Wow! After reading everything I thought that I would use 3GB, not more. Even better. Sorry if I'm sounding dumb or repetitive, but after reading your considerations, after running LPManager, all I need to do is place your tbbmalloc.dll (I'm assuming I have to place it with Arma's files, but I'll figure where later) on the correct folder, use -malloc=tbbmalloc as the first parameter, then -maxmem=8192 (I have 16GB installed) followed by the other ones I use and that's it, I'm good to go? Kinda off-topic, is there something else to use more VRAM or 2GB is actually more then enough? I have a 3GB GPU installed. Thank you very much for your time and effort helping us making the best game ever even better ;) -

Ok. So just to be clear, all I gotta do is run the LPManager.exe, with admin privileges, accordingly to the instructions provided on the repository and that's it? I can allocate 3GB using the -maxMem=3072 and malloc=tbbmalloc? I wont need to install/copy new DLLs or tweak register? BTW, thank you for all your work. Anything that makes my Arma3 runs smoother, is welcome and much appreciated ;)
