(Everyone) spawn a BLUFOR rifleman and tell me what vest he has on.

You'll have to talk to the guys who host the server and/or designed the mission/map/mod then. Like I said, I've played on quite a few servers and none had such a short dead body timer that I noticed it. I've played Dynamic Universal War System for example and even after 5 hours or so the bodies didn't disappear - and it showed, because my fps went from 40-60 (no bodies at all) down to 20-25 (~80 dead bodies).
-
Maybe you should add what kind of map/mod/server/mode you are playing. Some mods/maps/servers lower the dead body timer to not bog down the server so much. Personally I haven't encountered one where the timer has been so low that I would have noticed it. I know quite a few A2 servers who do this tho.

If only it would. I can get my CPU usage to about 70-80% in the editor, but as soon as I go into a showcase or MP it goes down to 40-50% at best on any core. It's not like one core is hammering away at 90-100% while the others idle, they are all maxing out at 50%, some even lower.

1. a GTX 660 is midrange. it's on par with the 7850/7870. 2. I can run the game just fine in SP with 40-60 fps. The problem here is that in MP, 99% of the time you won't even make it to 15 fps. 3. A thread with the same problem for A2 has been going on for 4 years now, with people having god awful fps, despite having powerful machines (eg. OC'd 3570ks with a 7950). This is a problem that has been with the RV engine since the beginning of the RV engine. 4. Check the Low FPS sticky, or the tickets #716 and #1264. People with powerful machine have the same problem. 5. Don't be so f***ing condescending.

Got almost exactly the same system. (945 instead of 940 and 8gigs intstead of 4). There is no solution. Welcome to the RV engine.

Very Low Fps Issue Compared To Arma 2 (I know it is beta)
jurrasstoil replied to KodeBluu's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Get something that lets you measure your current fps and the GPU and CPU usage (MSI Afterburner for example). Start the game and see what part bottlenecks. -
Thanks, now I can just ignore you and feel pretty good about it.

Which one would that be? offtopic: "u mad bro?" What is this? Xbox live?

Use the EBR then. It's 7.62 and not a one-hit kill to arms/legs unless you are very close. We get that it is supposed to be fun. That's the shooting down the heli part. Getting points for it isn't. The game has tons of problems. Mostly with terrible performance in MP and even SP, a still awful inventory system, terrible context menu, clunky controls and stiff and unintuitive movement (even though slightly improved over A2), just to name a few problems. The difference between shooting down the heli so the crash kills the crew and blowing up a vehicle with a rocket/tank should be fairly obvious. The system from A2 is still in. If you get hit in the arms your aim goes to s***, if you get hit in the legs you can only move at a very slow pace.
-
Are you talking about the .408 and the .50 sniper rifles? If so, then it is fine that these are one hit kills. If one of those bullets hits a leg or an arm, then you've had an arm or a leg. About the heli kill. This is a mil-sim, not battlefield.

Which is astounding considering all the AI and scripting he used in that video.

Running at around 5 FPS during Showcases?
jurrasstoil replied to thomas980's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
More memory won't help. The HD4000 iGPU has half the graphical performance of a 4 year old lowend dedicated graphics card. iirc there are solutions to hook up a GPU to your notebook externally. Last thing I heard about has been quite a while ago and i think ASUS had something along those lines. Of course its quite costly considering its a really niche market. -
As a 32bit application it is limited to 2gb of ram in windows. To use more it would require arma to become a 64bit application. Considering we are on the 4th "version" of the RV engine and it still suffers from the same god awful performance limitations from 12 years ago, I'd put the likelihood of that happening at 0%.Mobile Medic hits the nail on the head with his last post.

Running at around 5 FPS during Showcases?
jurrasstoil replied to thomas980's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well, if the laptop has no dedicated GPU and you are running the game with the GPU that is integrated into the CPU, then it is not a big surprise that the game runs awful. The Intel HD4000 integrated GPUs are not exactly powerhouses. -
should I buy a Video card or pay someone to help me out
jurrasstoil replied to Cobrastrike's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well, even really old Intel CPUs can run arma 3 at okay fps apparently. I've got an older rig with an E8400 which manages a steady 20-40 fps in MP while my AMD PII X4 945 (which has the same single core performance) won't go higher than 12-13fps in MP. A3 uses 80-90% of both cores on my E8400, but not even 40-50% on any of the cores of my X4. -

Well, at least you used punctuation once. What's your CPU? It seems like you are experiencing the same bizarre problem that a lot of players are experiencing. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147533-Low-CPU-utilization-amp-Low-FPS -
One might even go so far and say, that this was reported 1436 days ago. I've heard - and absolutely believe it - that this problem is as old as arma/ofp itself. I'm with the Arma Series since Arma 2, so I have no first hand experience with how bad it was in previous games. It is a bizarre problem in my experience and from my research. I have two different systems. My old rig is an E8400, 8gigs (ddr2) and a GTX260. My newer rig is a PII X4 945, 8gigs (ddr3) and a GTX660. Both run win7x64 on 5.400 HDDs and are connected to the same router. Logically you'd think the latter system would be able to run A3 and A2 better and more stable than the former system. Well, with this problem, logic has little say apparently. Let's first take a look at the differences in Arma 3. Singleplayer. Helicopter showcase. On my newer rig i can set everything to super ugly and lower the resolution to 640x480 and still won't be able to get past 15-16fps at the very beginning when you are at the airport. Switching over to my older rig, I can play it at low-mid settings at 1080p and get ~25fps. This already makes absolutely no sense to me. Multiplayer. Various Servers with different missions ranging from CTI, I&A, Wasteland to COOP, etc. On my newer rig, I'm usually completely f'd and struggle to get above 12-16 fps and on the best servers I might get 20-25fps. Again, settings are irrelevant and won't give me any fps gain whatsoever. Switch over to my older rig and join the same server that was previously completely unplayable on my newer rig and I can get a stable 20-40 fps on low-mid settings. It makes no sense. Then I start asking around on the servers I'm on what kind of performance people are getting and what their specs are. Of course 99% don't feel the need to reply, but sometimes people are nice enough to answer me. After asking on probably 100s of servers now, I haven't found any pattern. The only pattern I found is that it doesn't seem to matter how beasty or trashy your rig is, there seems to be somekind of bottleneck that will either drag your fps down to unplayable levels or not affect you at all... and for all I know, it seems to be completely random, almost like a curse lol This post is already too long, so I'll just say that it's the same for A2. And to the devs (who aren't reading this obviously): I'll be honest, I don't expect you to fix this. Not anymore. I have given up.

The new QotSA album ... Like Clockwork is absolutely fantastic. In my humble opinion probably their best album.
