Are You're CPU Cores Unparked? You'd Be Suprised At The Answer
jurrasstoil replied to iLLcAtTiViSsiMo's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
cpucount and exthreads are in there for troubleshooting. Also tried the unparking thing with cpupark or whatever the program is called and it yielded nothing but bluescreens for me. Using a 1230v3. -

All of this is well known at this point. Most of the things don't even do anything or are not necessary. cpucount, exthreads don't need to be set for example, they are automatically detected. -
Doesn't matter. Don't set it at all or set it to 4 or 8 or 4096. Arma won't use the virtual cores.

2 different GPU installed - upgrade

Upgraded to a Xeon 1230v3. If I had had an AM3+ Board I might have gone for an FX-8320. -

Low end and midrange Crossfire/SLI is useless. It's better to have one strong card than two mediocre ones. For 200 bucks you can get a 7950 at the moment which is a really good bang for the buck. Same performance as GTX760 which is a slight bit more expensive. However, have you tried lowering your graphic settings to check if it is really your GPU that is limiting your performance? I've had a phenom II x4 as well and arma 3 ran like shit in MP. My GTX660 was idling away at 20% Usage. -
i5 would sufficient. I've got an i7 (a xeon to be specific) and the HT cores don't do anything.

Frustrated annoyed and desperate for help (poor fps)

List all of your video settings. -
It could be the server. It might not have been updated to the latest version. You can still join non-hotfixed servers with your hotfixed version. Played another 4 hours and still no crash. Wasteland none the less, so lots of exploding stuff. Also didn't see a lot of people getting timed out/kicked for steam ticket. Just the usual 1 or 2, but not like 20 in quick succession. on 50+ player servers.

Reporting in: 4 hours contious play, not a single crash. hotfix worked for me (so far?).
-
Might be the server hasn't updated yet. You can still join pre-hotfix servers which will still have the PhysX3_x86.dll crash.
-
? The patch that is supposed to fix the physx crashes was released today to the dev branch.

When will the update that fixes crash out of the game?

I'm not a dev, so no clue when it will make its way into the main branch or if the hotfix that they put into the dev branch is actually working. You'll have to wait like everyone else I'm afraid. -

Like it says. It's in the dev branch only at the moment. Once the hotfix is confirmed to be working, it will be carried over to the main branch. -

What Graphic Card for my new i5 4570?
jurrasstoil replied to DocSnug's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Really depends on the money you want to spend. -
physx_86.dll crash. it's been acknowledged, they are working on it.
-
You are pretty much spot on except for the "no information"-part. They acknowledged the problem, said they can reproduce it reliably and are hoping to bring out a hotfix.
-
It's really a weird thing to witness. Just played a few minutes of wasteland to kill some time and at one point the server went from 46/46 down to 10/46 in a single moment. Chat went mental with people getting kicked.
-
pr0ph3t, this bit alone should tell you: don't bother.
-
It's because it uses FXAA+sharp filter. FXAA would blur the picture, but the sharp filter is trying to combat that.
-
Happens to me as well sometimes, not only with A3 tho. Tabbing out and back in usually fixes this for me tho.

ATI - Low FPS in spite of good hardware.

If only. 3dsmax ramps up your CPU usage to 100% across all cores (real and/or virtual) while rendering. If it would work like that, the FX83x0 CPUs would perform great. -
The 6800K has 2 Modules with 4 Threads. If you only benchmark a single one of those threads, it has a slightly better performance (+~10%) than a single thread of an almost 5 year old Phenom II X4 (Deneb). This is due to its higher clock speed. Because of how the Module-Design/Approach works, if you benchmark all 4 threads at the same time, it has a slightly worse performance (-~10%) than an almost 5 year old Phenom II X4 (Deneb). Despite its higher clock speed. Now, take a Haswell i5. It has 4 cores with 4 threads. The 4670 has about 50% more singlecore power and about 70% more multicore power compared to the 6800K. This raw singlecore power is what Arma seems to need unfortunately, because the CPU, unlike in most other games, becomes the most limiting factor. In almost all other games you'll be able to run them just fine with a 5 year old Phenom II X4. Additionally, the 6800K's strong suit and selling point is his relatively strong iGPU. If you are using a dedicated GPU, it doesn't make a lot of sense to buy/have it. AMD's gaming CPUs for systems with a dedicated GPU are the Vishera FX (like 6300 and 8320) ones or the Athlon 750K (less so). For the price of a 6800K you get a 8320 with twice as many Modules and Threads, but without the iGPU (which you wouldn't need anyways if you have a dedicated GPU already).
