KingOchaos replied to fget487's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Its in your arma 3 three folder in the bonus folder. So if its on steam and on C drive itd be C/program files/steam/steamapps/common/arma3/bonus -
Damian90"second is that moving plates when ERA detonates, are inducting stress on penetrator, which meakes it to yaw and bend to the point where penetrator might break in to several pieces" ;-) this is what i was meaning by cuts em like scissors... yah know counter rotating steel discs, yah gotta see the analogy fits ;-) But yea this is gettin a long way of base, but interesting stuff non the less.

It may have been off topic, but interesting non the less. That Kontakt-5 is pretty cunning, it would never have crossed my mind it worked like scissors trying to shear the rod.. http://greathistory.com/how-reactive-armor-works.htm Oh course this is the reason the rounds have evolved also... i suppose its classified, i guess they sheath the rods in ceramic or titanium or something. But yea, the effect o the KE rounds needs a rethink... and the btr needs to be re designated bmp ;-)

Has anyone figured out these heavy weapons yet?
KingOchaos replied to maturin's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
just for the record, yah can point shoot just using page up and page dn keys to adjust elevation, and the site in scoped mode when on manual isnt locked on the elevation of the gun. -
I have exactly zero experience in armored warfare in RL(riding in apcs is about the extent of my experience.) I agree with the BTR (why is it tracked, shouldnt it be a bmp) One sabot should mean yah cleaning out the crew and passengers with a hose. But the MBT's are suppossed to be the next generation ones, im assuming the t100 would be the armata mbt t99, one of the few things known about it is its supposed to have the crews in internal armoured capsules, and an unmanned turret, even if one o the capsules is destroyed, the tank can theoretically remain operational, with the remaining crew assuming control of their dead comrades duties. These arnt downgraded 50 year old t72s. But as a curiosity, ive got ask, ive always wondered how a needle penetrator would perform on a heavily sloped, ERA covered say t90 turret, does it dissipate/deflect penetration, or is ERA only effective against shaped explosive/heat rounds? ---------- Post added at 23:06 ---------- Previous post was at 23:04 ---------- Well that answers my question, i must have been typing when you were posting ;-)

What real life tank is the T-100 based off of?
KingOchaos replied to progamer's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Or the armata chassis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Combat_Platform_T-99 its really the spin off of the 195 and black eagle, -
@ Pharoah it also has auto elevation, thats \ (back slash) but its crap for point shooting because it goes for indirect by default for close targets. So a long time for impact. I havnt really played with it much mind, just a quick tooto to see how it worked, i have no idea about the artillery computer?

You use the page up and page down key to change elevation in the spgs.

Strawberries are rich in fiber; why is the M2 so underpowered?
KingOchaos replied to tracer2010's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
yea, the rnd in general is a truly awesome direct support rnd, it dosnt care if they are behind a cinder block wall, or a car, it will just make a bigger mess. The m2 has been used close on a hundred years as such, because it is such a damned effective weapon. Sure its great for soft skinned, or lightly armored vehicles, but its primarily used as an infantry direct support weapon. And it was because of its ballistics properties it was picked up as a sniper rnd. Greatly increasing the effective range of a sniper, from the comparatively anemic 7.62. Whilst increasing the effective role of a sniper/ or recon det. -

I agree with most o what you say Inimical, i have never been a sniper, so a bit limited in my experience on this, i was 10 years infantry however. The advantage o a .50, isnt its velocity (its not that quick, aprox 3000 odd fps, rnd dependent, over 1000fps slower than say a .270 hunting rifle) But it is its weight verse velocity, the total energy o the round that makes a .50 an effective long range round. So its not effected by windage anything like what a 7.62 is. It is a great long range calibre, whatever your target is, because of this. Its always impressive watching a BMG throwing a stream o what looks like slow moving slugs across a few km's, and damned impressive the impact they make down range. At close range, if you re only hitting soft tissue, most of the energy obviously isnt imparted on the target, but remains in the bullet as it skips off over the horizon, but thats true of any round. But against body armor, plate, it would be absolutely devastating. Because the armor is going to cause most of the energy of the round to be imparted into the target, as well as becoming fragments blown through the target. So against a modern infantrymen, it would be an extremely effective cartridge.
