UPDATED: 31JUL2013 PLEASE READ THE NEWEST POST WHEN IT IS APPROVED!
Hello fellow Arma players! I'm here to announce the formation of the 31st MEU Realism Unit. For those of you new to Arma you may ask yourself what is the difference between a realism unit and any other unit? The answer is simple, we take game play to a whole new level. Arma is a Military Sim developed with the intent to capture modern military combat/tactics/strategy down to the smallest detail and with the addition of the ACE and ACRE mods this is about as close as any of you will get to the real thing. In a nutshell we act, operate, and execute operations as a real world military unit would. Below I will outline some features of what we have to offer:
- Experienced leadership including real military veterans and active duty personnel.
- A well organized teamspeak server with a website being put together as I type this. Team speak address is: 74.91.127.141
- A well organized rank system used by the USMC with leadership positions opening up constantly as we expand.
- An active playerbase consisting of just over 30 members currently from all corners of the world.
- Weekly training and operations.
- Daily activities as a unit.
- A fully optimized dedicated server for all members and public players to use, IP to that server is also 74.91.127.141
- A competitive BRM scoring system to determine who our best shooters are.
- A full unique campaign built by one of our members that we will progress through as a unit, this is part of the weekly OP.
- A full size training map complete with every range you could ever need, a mounted engagement course, a live IED course, air-ground practice range, vehicle driving/firing range, and a medical training facility because we do use ACE Wounds.
- A friendly and helpful place where the NCOs and Officers will gladly answer questions and help with mod/addon issues.
If you are in the market for a unit dont hesitate to drop by our Teamspeak and jump into some missions with our soldiers. We will always welcome anyone who wants to learn/contribute. If none of NCOs or Officers are on dont let that stop you from jumping into a channel and introducing yourself to everyone, we like to see people who take initiative.
However we can't accept everyone who comes in. We have a policy in place to help us weed out the troublemakers and below I will outline our requirements.
1. We currently have an age limit of 16+ and that is subject to change at anytime without notice.
2. We will conduct an interview with you if you are interested, during the interview we will determine your mentality, maturity, and personality. If any of those are deemed unacceptable we will unfortunately have to refuse you and ask you to leave our teamspeak server.
3. If the interview goes well we will put you through our BCT course where we will determine the following:
- Can you follow orders?
- Can you respect superiors?
- How well do you know Arma?
- How well do you understand ACE and ACRE?
- How well can you shoot? Be advised that you will have to qualify with a standard issue M16. You must score 23 out of 40 hits to be accepted into the unit. If you fail to qualify you will be given 2 more chances, along with a little course in rifle fundamentals, before being refused and asked to leave.
- Can you pay attention?
4. During the BCT we will determine where you will fit into our unit at. If you excel at shooting you will most likely receive a marksman position on a fire team, if you excel at medical of course we can always use more medics, and the same is true for everything else a fire team is comprised of. During the BCT we will cover everything from driving and formations to rifle quals and AT/AA engagement.
5. If you complete the BCT you will be awarded a rank based on your experience and competency. Outstanding soldiers will start as a PFC where as soldiers who do not excel but pass will be brought in as a Recruit. Do not let this discourage you in anyway. Starting from the bottom is always the best way to go because you can do nothing but improve from there where as a new member who is granted PFC will easily have it taken away if they fail to maintain the standard they had in training.
More specific rules will be covered if you make it to the BCT level of the recruitment process.
Please note if you are a current or retired service member of any branch from any country we will need to verify your service if you choose to tell us you are ex-military. If you are a US veteran your DD214 will be enough proof, for those outside the US the process is a little bit harder to verify. We say this because as a realism unit we will look at real service members with a higher standard and normally consider them first for any position based on their real world knowledge, that does not mean they will get every leadership role that opens up however. Also this will be the only warning you will get. If you lie about your service or attempt to deceive us in anyway you will be immediately banned and reported to the Arma community as a fraud. In the US it is illegal to impersonate a soldier for personal gain or profit. Due to this being the internet it is not a crime to claim that you are/were a service member unless you use that status to collect donations or money to support your website or unit. I myself served in the US Army proudly and will be able to tell within 5 minutes of speaking with you if you are lying about being in the military.
