Typical, and a great display of the mindset of those subject to Steam. Read my previous post. You cannot choose patches. How mature.

Not necessarily. I want to be able to choose the patch that works the best on my system. Certain patches introduced issues on some machines. Also I want to be able to choose beta patches. I'll miss out on a leash being put on me, other than that I will miss nothing. I know, but you cannot choose patches. You cannot backup the executables.

Which is exactly the issue I'm talking about. I don't want automatic crap, I want control. I want to choose what patch I install and when. This is not in discussion. Will they be though? How can you know? I'd say yes, it's Valve's fault for making a crappy piece of software. It's not like I'm the only one that's had permanent issues with it. Not exactly, but security is a big concern in my line of work. Why do you ask?

Other than it working absolutely terrible on my machine, it often makes it incredibly hard to find mods and patches. Also, it's a way of turning PCs into controlled machines like consoles, which fills me with deep disgust. The Bohemia Interactive of OFP, ArmA and ArmA 2 is. You are naive and arrogant. The only reason Skyrim's modding community survived Steam is thanks to the Nexus and how it remained the go-to place for mods.

Registered just for this. Yeah.... Steam. It's a shame. Operation Flashpoint: Cold War is my all-time favourite game. There is not much one can say other than with the technology of the time it was amazing. It was beyond what you expected from gaming and I think I've sunk hundreds and hundreds of hours into it. I have purchased the expansion as well. Then came Arma and while it had a bit of a disappointing launch (issues and what not) I still thought it was amazing and I was overjoyed Bohemia had survived the split. Bought Queen's Gambit also. ArmA 2 fixed all the little issues of ArmA and is currently on my "always installed" list, with all expansions purchased. However it all ends here, I'm simply not going to use Steam. I'll see if I can find a way to directly send Bohemia half the value of ArmA 3, although with Steam, the modding scene will only be a shadow of its former self rendering ArmA 3 little more than a good game rather than the incredible piece of software its predecessors were. I might not even bother. It's with heavy hands that I mark Bohemia off my list of trusted developers. To leave noone. You were the only ones. You were the chosen ones. Whenever I had to display the greatness of PC gaming, you were my first pick. No more, however. Maybe I can just pretend you closed after ArmA 2. That might feel a bit better. End on a high note, you know.
