Get this when i try to play the showcase  -
Thanks for this. Downloading now. One of those silly things that always annoyed me. ;)

Wow, first impressions are very, very good.

I think it's great. hell even just exploring Altis is a game mode in itself! :D -
I use these settings: I can get anything from 100 down to 40 fps (average 45fps i reckon). Turning some things up (shadows for example) gets better framez. General Sample; 100% Texture; High Objects; Standard Terrain; Standard Shadows; High Particle; High Cloud; Disabled PIP; Disabled HDR; Low Dynamic Lights; Low Visibility Overall ; 1500 Object; 1000 Shadow; 100 Display VSYNC; Disabled AA & PP Bloom; 100 Radial Blur; 0 Rotation Blur; 0 Depth of Field; 0 SSAO; Disabled Caustics; Disabled FSAA; 4x ATOC; Disabled PPAA; Disabled Aniso. Filtering; High If people state what they are setting their visibility at then we can suggest other changes; just jumping in posting your system specs and shouting "Help plz can i haz moar framezz?!1?" is useless. My old shitty Core 2 Duo (and my current w.i.p below) got better fps than some £1000 set-ups because i am not afraid to turn things down.

Things that are actually better with ARMA 3.

The lighting, voice acting is generally much improved, Steam Workshop, mo-cap. -
Be interested to know which army you are in as i have never witnessed anybody losing their gear in battle. You are carrying your stuff for a reason. You need it. "McSenna! Ammo for the gimpy!" "ummm sorry s'arnt i dropped it half a mile back. Do you need it then?"
-
Indeed.
-
Hmmm let me see; Weapons, ammo (6 magazines minimum, 2 grenades), body armour - torso, knees, groin, hands and eyes, canteens, C rations, radio, uniform and boots not to mention any other items needed while on Operations - spare batteries for radios, ammunition (often including Javelin missiles), water (lots of) and medical supplies. This stuff on average weighs 110lbs or 50kgs! I would like to see some of you people run for 20 seconds with that and not want to puke, let alone get tired.

Enjoying this (although not finished it yet as AI seem to be able to see/hear for miles - probably not your fault as i think it's an Alpha fault). Downloading the updated version as i type. P.S The music is a great touch. Keep up the good work

Only had it just over a day.... So far the Good; Graphics/Lighting - great step up from Arma 2 and the filters applied when underwater or looking through a lens, be it a scope or bino's are nice touches. Voice acting - although theres not a massive variety so far its another very big step up from Arma 2. No more feeling like it was one of the Dev's friends/dads/cousin twice removed doing the voice acting to their obvious embarrassment! New stances etc - Great additions and now very cool to lean your weapon on a rock and blaze away on auto with minimal recoil :D although is this a First Person only thing? Doesn't seem to lean on anything when in 3rd person view? The Bad (some of this may just be down to it being in Alpha); Vehicles still handle like they are being driven on the moon - clip a rock on you are launched into orbit! AI - enemies can see me and shoot me from ridiculous distances and sometimes through stuff. Same can be said of friendly - calling out 'contact! Man 400 metres' when they are the other side of a hill/forest! Will happily keep plugging away with the editor and user downloaded missions. :) -
What computing system do you have for the Arma 3 Beta?
McSenna replied to Yett71's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
So i finally bought this yesterday..... and i am pleasantly surprised! My old heap; Core2Duo 6320 @ 2GHz - 2gb DDR2 Ram - GTX285 - WD 500GB 7200rpm HDD - XFX 650w PSU - 5:4 19" TFT. Crap CPU by todays standards, an old-ish card, and minimum acceptable ram. The result? I get 25-35fps on Medium. Only things turned down are Shadows to Low and the blur etc. to Low. Objects up to High, view distance @ 1000 and resolution of 1280x1024. I have been buying bits for an upgrade in order to play this (only waiting on an i5 and want a 1080 monitor)... but i am now no longer in such a hurry. To me what i can get from my cruddy old nearly-antique system for the time being is acceptable. The Beta will probably ruin it all for me and mean i have to go spend some more money :icon_lol:
