  1. Hi everyone,

I posted previously on this thread, but now I made my decision on my new laptop:

    Lenovo Y500

    i7-3630QM 2.4Ghz Processor

    NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB

    12.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM 1600 MHz Memory

15.6" FHD LED Glare Wedge 1920x1080

    1TB 5400 RPM+16GB SSD Hard Drive

Just for confidence's sake, this will run ArmA 3 comfortably, correct?

Thanks all, can't wait to (hopefully) roam around Stratis with you guys.

  2. You won't max it out on a top of the line desktop, let alone a notebook, so in short no.

The good news is that you can probably find a sub $1000.00 laptop that will handle it on low-medium (depending on Resolution, settings, view distance etc).

Unfortunately, as far as laptops go, it's when you start adding a good Video card (or an SSD) that the price suddenly takes a substantial leap.

If you can push $1000, this will give you medium plus settings:

If its got to be around $1000.00:

I've got a Sammy and an MSI so I can vouch for the quality of both - especially MSI, they are a top rate company and they have a great support board.

    Hope that helps.

PS: You could go under $1000 but then you are going to get Nvidia 650Ms etc and as much as they will play the game - you probably won't be happy.

Could you tell me what is the model number of the laptop in the second link? The links are broken and I can't find that model on the site. I've heard great things about MSI though... would it be possible for me to pull Medium-quality gaming out of that one though? I'm trying to keep in budget as much as I can but my currently laptop is from '07... yeah, it's about that time.

  3. Hi all,

So while I was on active duty in the Army, my computer knowledge got rusty. I really want to try out the ARMA series, but have never had a laptop powerful enough to. Does anybody know of a good laptop for under $1,000 that can run ARMA III really well? Whatever help I could get would be awesome.

    Thanks!

[Edit: when I say really well, I mean I want to try to max out the game as much as possible]
