How does the multiplayer ranking system works?

In any case welcome to ArmA and once you get used to it and learn to love what it can offer coop wise, then I strongly suggest you to join a group of players that has rank organization and so forth. All these missions that do offer some sort of ranking are mostly a one time thing. Meaning you get the rank of major eventually and such, but it all goes away upon leaving the server or if it gets restarted. No data is saved for it or what so ever.

How does the multiplayer ranking system works?

Yep, there's no such thing as xp, levels, unlocks or what so ever. You play it any imaginable way you like, from being a simple rifleman to a tank commander, artillery crew/spotter or an apache pilot, basically anything depending on the mission. The only ranking you'll ever get is if you join a squad and build your way up and eventually might get to command lower units, squads or at the very best platoons. Which might happen from a month or two to several years.

what do you think about the game so far?

Can't say I'm dissapointed, definitely looking forward for the Beta and the full release.

    Soldiers appearance. Important!

By all means let him have his big herculian body, while the rest of us stay normal. Will have ourselves a bigger and an easier target to hit hahah.

Is building-destruction excluded from the alpha?

Should be able to, have blown up dozens of buildings with AT launchers, satchel charges and such. Works perfectly on every residential home and ATC/Radio towers too. Except for the bridges as I haven't seen that yet, but maybe Altis will have plenty of blowable ones.

    ARMA 3 is so poor

For a company that sells VBS2 for 3000$ and more per each copy that shouldn't be a biggy to them.

    camouflage - Opfor, Bluefor

The trick is to learn how to use your camouflage. I never had a problem to use the Blufor uniforms against all types of environments, all you have to do is learn where to use it so that you get to trick your enemies better. The answer is really simple don't use dark bushes, ground patches and so on, but instead use the ones that match the blufors uniform accordingly.

    ArmA 3 alpha duration

Beta will be ready when it's ready, there are a lot of issues that need solving before going further as I definitely wouldn't want to end up with a buggy end-product. Shouldn't be too long though, remember someone mentioning that beta will come in the middle of June.

    Ugh. Focus on fixing controls.

Simple really, just double tap your ALT key and it should disable freelook while you're driving/flying something. Unless they removed that option with the latest updates.

    arma 3 zoombies

Doesn't seem much of a biggy from my point of view. Even if this reaches it's goal at becoming playable or even popular in ArmA 3 then there will always be vanilla ArmA 3 servers, with regular mil-sim experience. Everyone has a right to play what they want and how they want especially in ArmA 3 when it's an open sandbox for all. And I believe there's not much to worry about especially when DayZ Standalone is coming soon, because it will probably draw the majority Zoombies players away for an even better experience. Remember DayZ players weren't the only ones that got attracted back in ArmA 2 as ArmA 2 also had a lot of WWII fans drawn in with the invasion44mod along with dozens of other mods that came for ArmA 2, so it basically means it will attract people from all over with different kind of taste and ideas of their own. So if some of you believe they have no right no bring something like DayZ to ArmA 3, then why bother letting other mods with all the people that come along with them as well? That's what your logic looks like as I keep reading all the silly reasons why it shouldn't be allowed.

    Rifle damage

Nonsense, it takes more than 1 shot with a rifle to kill someone, especially when you hit them in the legs or arms. Even after hitting someone in the chest with a 7.62 a lot still survive. As for the pistol it only makes sense if it takes 5-9 shots to kill since it has to penatrate all that armor with 9mm rounds. By the way that weird metal sound was propably the helmet getting hit.

    automatic update tactical Map

Just no. That's why ArmA is fun, because people have to use their own perception, not just rely on maps, minimaps just like CoD, BF3 and so on offer. That's what makes it so different and why people love it, because you actually have to put your own mind into it, not just blindly running around expecting to know where your enemy is, that is just silly.

Arma 3 MP, Is it Worth it?

You can definitely have fun in Multiplayer. And it's total nonsense that most servers are password protected. It's also definitely worth the price as it will probably get more expensive when the full content gets released. The only cons I can think of is lack of content/features, then of course you'll run into a bug or two along the way, but overall it's fantastic as me and my buddies always get a good blast. Also you might run into a script-kiddie along the way, who'll try to ruin your experience, but all it takes is to join a server with good admins or a server that has its own anti-script system. Plus don't miss on the perfect opportunity to contribute into ironing out things plus suggesting new features as you probably won't be getting another chance like this.

    Tips on flying a helicopter?

Everyone to their own really, you simply need to find the most comfortable controls for yourself. I for example never re-binded my keys, since the days of ArmA: Armed Assault and have used keyboard + mouse for steering. Good piloting skills doesn't mean you have to own any other controllers or what so ever, I learned to fly with ease back then and never had trouble since. Be it heavy transport carriers to agile MH-6's or AH-1Z's you'll learn the difference between them all over time. Also try focusing on flying in 1st person instead of 3rd, it can be a lot harder, but it's one of the best things you can practice from.
  15. Hey there, I haven't noticed any other threads regarding vehicle collisions, so figured I might make one. I noticed that at the moment the way how collision works is if you bump into anything, even lightly you'll sustain damage that can vary from little to even death. Now I understand if you run into a wall, tree or a huge rock at full speed you're most likely to splatter your brains against the windshield or so, but when small bumps, that would hardly make you flinch in real life wouldn't cause life threatening injuries, yet in the alpha they do, plus are capable of wrecking/blowing up your vehicle into pieces. Yesterday alone I drove an ATV and there was a bucket in my way, of course I hit the brakes and even at 10-20kmph I died and had the ATV explode when I was at full health and the ATV itself was all white health wise. And today I drove a hunter into an ATV at full speed just to see it fly (Was fooling around) And then it happened again, I died and the hunter nearly exploded. It's like hitting a car with a train, the train itself will barely have any damage, while the car flies away or gets crushed. It would be nice if you (The developers) would look into this and also tweak the vehicle vs static, yet physical objects that would naturally fly or get crushed away. Buckets and such is a pretty annoying thing to die from ya know hahah. Before the patches it seemed to work quite well, could crash into lighter vehicles/objects and they would act the proper way, but now they just won't and will end up having you die most of the time.
  16. Sahrani would be lovely. Best of both worlds when it comes to desert and forrest/mountain areas.

The guns you miss (until they get modded back in)

I really do miss the AK's, especially the AKM. Also the scopes, I did see that they're going to add quite a few of them including a sniper scope, but I'm really hoping it will have the good old mil-dots or some in-built range designators like they have on PSO and G36 scopes. I know that there's more than a few ways on how to use a few tricks (cheats) with your mouse-cursors and such to get the range, but it's pretty lame. Also I do know there's a way how to estimate range by using the shoulder width with the current scopes, but it's not so effective when you got a target that's not facing their back or front to you.

    New update, worse FPS?

It's the other way around for me, I'm getting a massive fps boost since the last update. Almost as if I'm in the editor with absolutely no AI/scripts while I'm on 40-60 player servers.
  19. Absolutely no leaderboards, stats or what so ever. Hell I'd say we should remove kill messages and the in-game scoreboard as well, because that's a lame way how to confirm your kills. Let's say you get fired upon from a bush, you take cover and spray eachother like crazy then after a while the fire exchange stops. At this point you simply don't know if you finally killed the enemy or not so have to go up to investigate. It can mean only two things - the enemy has been killed/ran out of ammo or is tricking you. This is the kind of realism we need in ArmA, if you really want to count your kills then that's what BF, CoD and so on is for.

    Frustrating experience

Sounds like you haven't tried any of the Dev builds. Recently they rolled out major improvements, including fps and stability. I've been playing on a 60 player server and the fps is more than playable now. Pretty much the same as I get in the editor without absolutely nothing. (AI's etc) If you want to see improvements and "test" them, then go for the dev builds instead as "stable version of Alpha" doesn't get updated or what so ever. At least for now.
