There is a real need for an alternative UI to assist promotion of your game
Issue:
Player name is displayed in various locations which viewers can locate the server the streamer is playing on.
Other bits of sensitive information people can locate the server are displayed, but the player name is the most intrusive to the stream to cover up or avoid displaying, and most widely used for locating the stream host.
Delayed stream prevents interaction between the streamer and their viewers in the chat.
The success of previous Arma models has been a variety of strong collectives of communities conglomerating together, the only current method to avoid hindrances of the stream are bulky and counter-intuitive for the one streaming.
Symptoms:
Streamer is located by those abusing hacks to disrupt the streamers ability to perform, which in turn obstructs promotion of the game.
Streamer is located by stream snipers and trolls.
The topic of conversation in the stream quickly moves to the issue being experienced, rather than the enjoyment of the game.
Potential viral videos of content detrimental to the success of the game.
Streaming communities often pick up games due to the streamer revealing interesting aspects of the game, the interest is lost when the bulk of the content is dealing with something a feature could easily combat.
Resolution
In options have a "Streamer interface" button, which removes sensitive information. Primarily Player Names replaced with "OpforBLU", "independent", etc.
It is not just the Streamers name that should be masked or turned off. If they see any player names they can then use those as well.
I believe the sooner an alternative interface is provided, the more productive it will be for the games success long term. Arma 3 is a beautiful game, with potential to be the most well received release in a long time among a slew of clones. The demographic that this would cater to is heavily dependent on social networking, streaming, and well produced player made videos. Please support this niche by providing the tools necessary to provide the best possible content available.
