I think the ps3 game The Last of Us nailed how movement and combat should be handled in a 3rd person game. Both games dont have jumping but you still can scale stuff you are meant to in The Last of Us, while in Arma 3 it has to be scripted. If you have a small stone in front of you, you have to press the jump button which is just an animation. So you have to stop, jump and then continue running instead of just fluidly jump over it. Same with climbing stuff, you always need a ladder even though there is tons of stuff you could jump up and reach. Also weapon handling is so stiff. When you reload you have to stand still and you cant change weapons on the fly either. Really loved how in The Last of Us anything you picked up is visible on your body and you can reload, change weapons and even bandage yourself up while moving. Really wished the Arma series would move away from the typical scripted events, and have more dynamic animations to what youre doing. It would add so much more to the experience to have more fluid animations and events than the static events going on right now.

This is cooperative missions where we are fighting the AI, not controlling it.

I think this has been an issue since the start of Arma games and is still bothering me now in Arma 3. AI controlled units are behaving very weird in general. Just to take an example we were playing the "Defend Kamino" co-op mission and most of the time the infantry would just clump up together in a group and stand still outside the wall of the base, doing nothing. This happens in every co-op mission ive tried and also in past Arma games this would happen alot. Its not until you start shooting that the enemy will react, often in a very similar way, like if you engage an enemy group they will suddenly all go to prone together and fire automaticly at your direction, even though you are in a ghillie suit laying in a very covered position. Really seems the A.I is very basicly scripted and not a proper system behind it. Even vehicles will just drive somewhere that doesnt make sense. Often i find myself in missions where there is an enemy soldier just laying prone for 30 minutes long away from its objective, or a vehicle just driving or staying put until we make any sound or movement. Cooperative play in a game like this should be amazing and fun, yet due to the simplistic A.I i cant find any fun with it . Everything about Arma 3 is rock solid and really amazing, but the A.I needs a lot of work. I really really hope this is beeing looked at.

Its very limited content and the co-op gets old very quickly due to the very poor AI system. It really feels too scripted. Co-op in a such big enviroment should be a lot of fun but it isnt. It manages to get repetive and extremely lineary. Im not sure if they will fix that since in every Arma game the AI has been very much scripted and behaved really basic. Thats what the Arma multiplayer has focused on also, players versus AI which have never been THAT popular. What made Arma famous is the modes that introduced player interactivity, player versus player. DayZ and Wasteland.

Poor AI I think one of the biggest issues the Arma series have had is to do with the AI system. They are behaving like robots that follow very tight conditional type of scripting. One example is on the Headhunters co-op mission where you are to hunt down 3 officers. First village there is tons of soldiers walking about, then you have 4 soldiers just standing still not doing anything. If anyone make a sound they will all go to prone and then start firing. This game really needs to get a better AI system so singleplayer missions can be fun as well. Also there is no need for the automatic radio commands yelling out enemy locations and what not. If you bring with you several AI friends then they will shout out enemy locations and every detail they do all the time. I feel it ruins the immersion. The game itself is solid i think, its just the AI that is bugging me alot and needs to be fixed to grab a larger audience. -

How does the supporter badge get implemented into the forums ? Like myself i have bought the supporter edition on another email than my forum account here. Will we get to merge accounts or does it go by the email used and we have to create new forum accounts on that email ?
