Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?

Any server. The graphical options hardly even matter, they don't really have any affect on my FPS in multiplayer. In single player the game runs okay at least, but multiplayer is always unplayable. -

I'm just horribly disappointed. I was so extremely hyped for this game and couldn't wait to play it. Alpha and beta were bad, I couldn't get any sort of playable FPS in multiplayer. So I waited and hoped it would be improved a lot but here we are at release and it isn't any better at all. Using a GTX 560Ti, i5-2500k@4.2GHz and 8gb of ram I can't even reach 30 FPS in multiplayer at the lowest settings. A waste of $32 isn't very cool, but it's nothing in comparison to the massive disappointment of not being able to play this game. -
They won't officially make dismemberment or movable rag dolls after death because then they'd have to release a separate version of the game for germany. Best you can hope for is maybe seeing it in mods

I appreciate the acknowledgement, I just like to emphasize how important this is too so many of us. This is easily my biggest problem with the game right now is the bad frame rates, everything about this game is so excellent so far, and that's why it makes me so sad, because I can't play it properly! Excluding the optimization, I say the alpha almost feels like release quality for most games, it's pretty much just a few minor bugs here and there. So I'm just hoping you'll really put some high priority on this problem, I don't expect a miracle, I don't expect it to run on a microwave, but good optimization is always a great thing to have. It's an alpha, I know, I just want the game to be as good as possible, for me, for everyone, for BIS. So far I am impressed and happy about everything this is here currently.

Something simple like a rifle butt is all they need. Come up behind a guy? Press your default action key and you rifle butt him in the neck or something in like a second and half animation, if they move, the animation cancels. If they turn around or you do it infront of them and they don't move or shoot you, you'll just do light damage and knock their aim up like nearby explosions do. No QTE's, no quick knifing, no flashy animations, no addition of a bunch of other uneeded features to go along with it. Hell, I would be fine if it just didn't have any animation, I don't care, but I think if you manage to sneak up behind some one and get that close to them without being spotted, you should be able to harvest the fruits of your labor and kill them relatively silently compared to shooting them.

Why are you still using Gamespy for mp? Use Steamworks please...

What? the in-game web browser? They won't use that to find servers, why would they? Doesn't even really make since unless they had a website like battlelog (which is awful, don't do that BI.) Steams browser is pretty bad based on the fact that it uses internet explorer, idk why really, but it probably has something to do with every PC coming with it, and them being too lazy to implement other browsers working in their overlay. -
I like the idea, don't think it would be too hard to implement and would be a huge addition for the players not in some sort of clan. Would be a nice place to work on your fire fight tactics and coordination, and or just play a quick game of arma aswell Half jokingly half serious, it could also serve kind of like a daycare for the people who only want to jump into games and shoot people as quick as possible. If they want the feel of arma but the action of CoD, you might as well give them some place to get it rather then in a more traditional game, where they end up team killing people because they're getting bored.

Yeah, the first thing my eyes snapped to when starting the server browser was "powered by gamespy" I shuddered a little bit. -
Why buy A3 just so you could go online and ruin everyone's experience?

It's really sad how this game is unplayable without a private group, I guess there's just those who care and those who don't, and those who care are usually part of a clan unless they're new, and if they're new, they might get turned off by the mostly awful group of public players before they join any sort of group. Most of the trolling comes from people getting bored of not being able to get into the action instantly, so they just start creating it with the environment around them, like team mates. I really don't understand why so many people bought a god damn mil-sim when they know they can't go more than 30 seconds without shooting someone, whoever it may be, surely there are better options than a mil-sim. It's almost an amazing feat when you meet some one who is decent and doesn't want to team kill you or cowadoody it up. One server I was playing earlier today had plenty of team killing going around but eventually I got out of the base and found a car. I picked some random guy up while driving around and we just drove around talked for a couple minutes just about how amazing the mirrors were and how they pretty much haven't been in a video game for like 10 years. That's the only actual civil conversation I've had with anyone so far, and it was refreshing, no matter how small it was. -
Why stop at knives? Why not tomahawks for some of that arab street cred.

Was going to start my own thread but I figured there's already tons of related threads, so I'll use this one. Some people are saying they are running just as good, or better that they did with arma 2. Either they're doing something I'm not, or they're lying. In arma 2 with near highest settings, I probably got around the lowest of 40 FPS in the more hectic moments, 60+ easily when just roaming the country side in calm moments. Obviously the frame rate would get worse as more bodies piled up and the mission went on longer, but my point is that it ran pretty decent discounting that 1 problem the game had. Now for arma 3, I have better than the recommended specs for the game, while it recommends a i5-2300 and a GTX560, I have an i5-2500k and a GTX560Ti. To me, I believe getting a stable 60~ on the preset video option one step higher than standard is what you should at least be getting, meeting the exact recommended specs. On high, in single player on the helicopter showcase, I get 25-35 frames just in the base before I get into the helicopter, then 20-30 in the air. In multiplayer, I need to set my game down to the low preset to stay above the head ache inducing low 20's, I usually range from 28-45. Obviously from the singleplayer AI is the biggest hit to frames, and in multiplayer, It's what? dependent on how good the host is? That's what I've heard at least. So I'm wondering how people with similar GPU/CPU are running, and if anyone is actually able to play multiplayer with decent frames on settings higher than low. Is there any magic trick to increasing my frames right now or is it pretty much just dependent on the fact that there's no dedicated servers, and that the game is really unoptomized. This game is already amazing with how it all controls, looks and feels, but the optimization is really breaking my heart here.

It would be nice, not for any "haha I totally got you" reason, just because I genuinely wish you could kill some one semi stealthily when you sneak up behind them. However, in what most people would call "genuine arma" the scope of the battle would be far to big for any of that and the fighting would rarely ever get the close and personal. Also, if you haven't noticed yet, you pretty much can't sneak in arma unless everyone isn't paying attention and or are currently firing their guns at something, footsteps are loud even in walking crouch. I think most uses of the feature would only be used in mods and such, so really it might just have to be a thing a modder might have to put time into if they feel they need it.
