Just found a little program called play with six, it makes server browsing much easier, you can also add buddies so you can see what servers their in :-)

Hello, Most of the servers are hosted by people playing the game on their connection. People password lock them when they just want to play with people they know. On more than one occasion when I have hosted a game a player will join half way through a mission and team kill everyone. You can always host your own game, if you do get a troublesome player join if you press the map button you can click "players" and kick them. When I search for servers and put them in order of ping I get around 25 servers under 100ms yet if I set a filter to show only under 100ms it returns no results so maybe leave the ping filter off.
