Ability to keep map on a secondary display while playing?
MDK2k replied to gimpymoo's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
So you should be able to play the game as you see fit, but if the Milsim community want's to do the same thing on their servers they are elitist?!?! I don't understand your point of view at all. -
With a 6 core I7 and hyper threading I noticed that half the threads didn't appear to be in use at all. In general Arma 3 is not putting alot of strain on my CPU. At this point I would say that hyper threading doesn't help at all. I think the problem is that alot of things are dumped on a single core.

ARMA 3 base terrain textures WORSE than the original Operation Flashpoint
MDK2k replied to SandboxPlaya's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
It might very well be that the current textures are placeholder material. The game doesn't seem to be using a whole lot of Vram atm. I was testing with 5760x1080 resolution on Nvidia Surround yesterday and the game didn't have issues with Vram on high settings even when I only have 1.5 gigs per GPU. High resolutions consumes quite alot of Vram and some games are impossible to play in 5760x1080 on my card. Nvidia 600 series cards usually have atleast 2 gigs of memory and 700 series cards are speculated to have even more (Titan has 6gigs). So in terms of texture resolution it's possible to go up. However I don't know if the bigger island will be alot more demanding on Vram. -
I tested Nvidia Surround today with Arma 3 alpha. I'm quite happy with the results so far. Bohemia has actually taken in to account 3 monitor support. The UI works rather well in both the editor and in game. There is some small resolution issue with the font and like many other games motion blur is way too strong (calculated from the horizontal resolution?). The game also runs surprisingly fast with my GTX 590. Even 5760x1080 with high setting was pretty smooth on the test scenario atleast. I feared I would run in to issues with Vram since GTX 590 only has 1.5 gigs per GPU, but that wasn't a problem. I will put some images and video up when I can. The forums doesn't let me put them since this is my first post ---------- Post added at 00:00 ---------- Previous post was at 23:58 ---------- https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27709072/arma3/2013-03-06_00001.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27709072/arma3/2013-03-06_00003.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27709072/arma3/2013-03-06_00006.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27709072/arma3/2013-03-06_00004.jpg

You can actually view the youtube video on 3 monitors if you have Surround mode active. Just make sure you use the original resolution option for better picture quality.
