There is a way, just go to the options ---> controls and rebind them so it fits your needs. But isn't that obvious? There is also nice manual (printed in box copy, and PDF version is in game folder) that categorizes the controls by coloring the keys, splitting the keyboard into few sections, taking a look at it might help. Wish you nice experience in your new games.

Hello! I post here the script I made which is useful and easy to use when you want to make some kind of target to move smoothly between 2 defined positions. Feel free to post any bug-report here. If you use the script, please keep the header unmodified. The header is also filled with informations how to use the script, so check there. While I saw some similair scripts around, this one is written in performance-friendly way and should be independent of server FPS. ---------- Post added at 12:36 ---------- Previous post was at 12:31 ---------- Damn, put that in configs & scripting section, instead of mission-making & scripting. Can I fix it somehow, or can any admin do so?

How do I report my position to the AI?
punkatux replied to Chunk3ym4n's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
It's not only cosmetic. Soldiers who can't find you will drop their morale too, to prevent this you tell him to wait for you 1-7. And yes, there is no way to tell your position, sending soldier to your coords works tho. BUT it's not true that your soldiers know your pos at all times, they actually seek around your last know pos to find you. -

Why does AI command other AI to get out of tank?
punkatux replied to roguetrooper's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Need more info, it sounds to me that one tank gets damaged and crew get out OR you enabled "engage at will" and maybe some infantry have rocket launchers, going to attack on their own. Also what's the skill of the leader, what's his current waypoint and what's their behaviour? -
Disabling the "magic map," as well as a couple of other things
punkatux replied to GDent's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
@GDent: #1: What you can see on the map, is perceived or approximated position, it's not cheat showing you the real position of enemy. However, it can be turned off in difficulty settings. For firenldies and enemies independently. #2: How can it be annoying for you to know that the threat is down? Are you lone-wolf rambo? #3: Yes, difficulty options can be edited and customized, there is button for it in the options menu. @silens: It will not disable auto-spotting at all, player just don't get any info about contacts, unless he takes a look into contacts menu. I think auto-spotting is biggest pain in the ass for newbies as it overwhelms them. I recommend to turn it off, also more immersive without it. -
Making a group forget about its enemies
punkatux replied to camo1018's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
They never go to attack enemy on themself. As you assumed they usually change to combat mode which makes them to take cover and move from cover to cover only. However they only react to what's spotted of course. If you are squadleader, make sure you told soldiers you want to attack to return to formation (1-1) or wait (1-7), then assign them target through 2 (targets) menu (2-2 for most priority one for example), then tell them to engage (3-4). They will break from formation to seek good place for engaging the target. If you want them to do automatically, tell them to engage at will (3-5). In case of AI leader, make sure group has "ENGAGE AT WILL" at waypoint properties. -
Got a tactic? Suggest it!

Try HETMAN (also called @Ryd_HAC) addon -
I found out that you don't have to be the squadleader, but it seems you have to play on the same computer which the group is local to. I've tried many variations with my friend. Here are the results: 1) me hosting server and being squadleader - I could reveal contact 2) me hosting server and him being squadleader - I couldn't reveal contact 3) me hosting, squadleader being an AI, me being grunt - I could reveal contact 4) me hosting, squadleader being an AI, him being grunt - He could't reveal contact Me and my friend also always checked if target got into database (2 - targets menu) and in cases where he couldn't spot them, it didn't. In cases 3) and 4) you can see the difference. I was hosting non-dedicated server and even when I wasn't squadleader, I could reveal them. It lead me to assumption the problem is somehow connected to locality, because there is no other difference except my friend couldn't reveal them and I could. I consider this a quite huge bug as this won't allow your human coplayers to spot targets for your squadleader and I often play these scenarios where an AI leads the squad in multiplayer.

Connecting failed in OA, not in Arma 2
punkatux replied to Hencke's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well I experience this issue too. My friends too. Everything used to work since last friday or Satturday. But I figured out where the problem might be. Whenever my computer tries to connect arma2oapc.master.gamespy.com on port 27901, the server replies with ICMP packet, telling that the port 27901 is unreachable. The same with server mirrors. So I guess, isn't that GameSpy problem???
