  1. @Sakura_Chan, I have an idea, since this is "2035" I think that the C-130 atleast would have a GPS instead of that map that is inside in the cockpit, is it possible to use the PiP function to change that into a GPS?? That would be great I think.

Unless it is a real system aboard the C-130'aircraft, it would have to be an addition version.

But he is using Franze's interactive cockpits in both aircraft from the screenshots.

  2. i think that by 2035 they would have added an nose gun

I doubt it, they already tried that and it failed because it just isn't a good platform for such a thing. The V-280 is designed with this in mind as being the third generation of the V-22 technology. But it would need a different model, animations and flight characteristics. It's also still in the prototype phase but there is a cool CGI video showing it off with the top of the line military acting!

The video is still pretty epic.

  3. @mankle hi mate i was not going to merge the model just open it up inside, the lhd has the cargo door on the back and space in there already for cargo just been checking each part is 1000-2000 polys per piece guess they have half done the inside, for planes its just a case of making the faces stretch to achieve a more realistic size for planes ive already opened up the space on deck were the roller shutter doors are and made it usable to enter exit it will do for storage and a briefing room.

also maybe more proxys would be the way to go for the extra hangers and decks just a thought.

If you want to see examples of this, the FFAA5 mod from Arma 2 had doors on their ships.

  4. Are you using Franze's interactive cockpit technology? It looks similar.

I am of course referring to this lovely tutorial for an interactive cockpit from Franze here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?170122-Key-Interaction-Cockpit-Interaction-Tutorial&p=2579346

  5. well today I got to take the osprey out for a while in A3. It handled exactly like it did in A2. I am happy to report that I was able to increase the hover-mode maneuverability greatly. I realized why it had such bad handling...basically the geometry lod determines its maneuverability in both heli-mode and plane-mode. In order for it to fly like a heavy transport in plane-mode, it made it stiff and heavy in heli-mode. The solution is that there are actually 2 lines of code that can change the plane-mode handling, which the A2 osprey DIDN'T USE! So I made the geometry 'smaller' until I could whip it around in heli-mode, then adjusted the plane-mode code so it didn't handle like a fighter jet. It is really cool, the Osprey has amazing rudder authority now even in plane-mode. I use an XBOX360 controller, and I was poking the refueling boom into windows.

Look at this because as maneuverable as it is, its still a large, heavy airplane designed for VTOL flight and speed.

You are adjusting the maneuverability with what the real life version does right? You can possibly use the above videos to view the flight characteristics. The Osprey isn't that maneuverable but instead relies on speed to keep safe.

Wasn't the reason the way it was because BI knew this?

  6. Yeah, i agree! Yes, it is possible to hear the music outside vehicle :)

Right now it's only local, but i am currently trying make it global.

It's a script. How would i retrieve these live radio? With a extension?

Yea, it would have to be an addon for live radio. But you could do a script version and an addon version.

Are there any issues with music copyright?

  7. At one point arma was supposed to be a military simulator I believe. But with mods like Dayz, ACE, etc. I believe BIS has realized that developing the game as a military sim will not be as productive as developing it as a sandbox that can be turned into whatever one wants it to be. That's not to say they have thrown realism out the window - its just increased realism is no longer a number one priority. True Arma is a sandbox where you can create anything and play it with friends. Its whatever the user chooses it to be. Honestly the campaign and stock missions are not at all that Arma is. They are just a introduction to the possibilities.

This model has both its pros and cons. Overall I think it is a good choice. It sure beats going total arcade and making money or going total realism and going broke.

The whole realistic and no balance is one of the things that made Dayz mod popular. And I doubt Arma would go bankrupt being more realistic. The thing is it really can't be a true sandbox. Alienating past fans with the whole mods will fix it philosophy is not a good solution. I don't think all the BI devs want what Coulum thinks they do, it's more from people who have more power from changes in project lead and other things.

I don't think realism is no longer the number one priority, even with stupid things like hiring someone to balance content. But it seems as though a lot of the realistic mil sim devs jumped ship to dayz. By shying away from the niche Arma just become another one of those boring balanced games that try to appeal to everyone and make no one happy. Arma just seems like it's lost it's way right now but hopefully will get back on track.

  8. Sweet! those look great. A real bonus to Arma3.

Have you seen what HAFM have done with the C130? May be worth getting in touch and collaborating, they seem to have cracked the walking into aircraft problem:

    http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?151365-ArmA-III-Hellenic-Armed-Forces-MOD-(HAFM)&p=2577646&viewfull=1#post2577646

It's just a walkable interior. When it starts moving if things aren't tied down, bad things happen.

  9. Yeah, i was thinking of that. I'll se what i can do :)

Actually no. You mean that it would stream live radio to the game? Not sure if that's possible :)

Also, i'm using say3d to play the music, which complicates some things.

    Thanks guys!

Is it a script or an addon. If it's an addon you could potentially have live radio. There are a few websites that send out the data for live radio stations all over the world.

  10. Arma is hardcore core and realistic. That is the true Arma, closer to a simulator than other games. From the sim like base game, it can be modded any direction you want.

Dayz is going to be ultra hardcore realistic but it's really sad that the Dayz team cares more about realism more than the Arma dev team.

  11. The CV-22 is the USAF Osprey, the MV-22 is the Marine Corps destination, only the MV-22 was equipped with the BAE Interim defence weapons system which was later removed as it was found to be rather useless at higher altitudes and usually flew with gunship support which destroyed targets before the ospreys could, so the systems were removed due to the added weight impeding the carrying capacity.

    Thanks for the correction.

  12. yes, but I've always loved the sinister red lighting of older C-130s and AC-130s. I might change it back.

Anyways, all the suggestions have been noted, and I will make sure it is fully walkable, jumpable, openable, and usable.

Keep things open in the sense that if someone does crack the walkable moving vehicles issue, that it can be applied to your vehicles. You could have your sinister red and modern blue variants of the C-130 so then everyone's happy.

    ---------- Post added at 08:21 ---------- Previous post was at 08:21 ----------

Also do you plan to have the real life armed version of the MV-22 in addition to the unarmed variant? They recently got 360 degree mini guns mounted on the bottom and also have machine guns on the sides and on the rear that are manned by soldiers. The armed version is called the CV-22. More info on the weapon systems here: http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/video-bae-wins-cv-22-gun-contract-220905/ and another source: http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/baes-turret-to-trial-in-cv-22s-04618/

And what about the cockpit being interactive in light of Franze teaching us how he did it here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?170122-Key-Interaction-Cockpit-Interaction-Tutorial&p=2578669#post2578669

Will the MV-22's "hell hole" be usable?

  13. Um, not sure what the problem is. Currently the csat "clothing" + non plate vest doesn't offer as much protection as just a plate carrier. Comparitively all the mentioned combined values don't equal one another for total armor per faction. AAF/Nato guys with plate carriers can take more to the chest and that seems likely to me.

A protective suit doesn't seem all that far fetched if today's bullet resistant vests can be worn under a sports jacket. I don't see why it can't be integrated or combined with fatigues. It's not implausible for the setting of the game.

Weight, cost and many other things are factors of why this doesn't exist right now and I doubt such tech if it was somehow developed would be out the the prototype phase by 2030.

  14. My thoughts exactly. Mods I've seen so far are quite far from BI's usual standards - even if AI wouldn't be using it at all. (inb4 some smartass with: "What BIS standards? They don't have any.")

Balance; Why haven't anyone yet brought up the obvious issues on balance if weapon resting is implemented officially? Suddenly effective engagement ranges would go through the roof. You'll have ten times more suitable spots to fire a sniper rifles and MGs steadily. In the current state you have to pick your fire position much more carefully since you can only shoot efficiently in prone and then your line of sight is more likely to be blocked by foliage and terrain. This reduces the real life differences between short range and long range weapons to create more balanced combat. Is it realistic? - probably not, but I think it's necessary in Arma.

I admit; I haven't really played extensively with modded weaponrests, only tried them shortly, so balance might not even be an issue eventually, but I really wanted to throw this aspect into the discussion too.

It should be realistic, if the mission maker does not want it, then we could have options to disable it. But it should be realistic as people voted for and not artificially modified for some sort of stupid balance.

    ---------- Post added at 06:01 ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 ----------

BI doesn't care about having something realistic affecting some sort of balance. That's the mission makers job. The thing that holds things back are the AI.

  15. Awesome to see these becoming part of the community upgrade project! Can't wait to get back in the Osprey's pilot seat again!

By improved hover control over the MV-22's hover abilities, wasn't the Arma 2 version the way it was because it was realistic? Wouldn't it make sense to keep the vehicle realistic?
