  1. Mods like Invasion44, Project Reality, ACE, CSLA, FFAA6, A-10c, Hell in the Pacific, PwS, JSRS, Blastcore, ACRE, Mando Missile, CWR2 could easily be the next Dayz with more support from the game engine.

BI missed out on Project Reality, and even with the contest I would like to see BI actively adding engine features, scripting commands and other features/support for skilled modders. The more popular the mod, the more active BI would be in adding engine support for various things for the mod that could be used by anyone.

Or you could outsource work by providing trusted community members with the ability to code features for the game engine which would then be checked over by a developer before being added into the vanilla game. If the community can do better, let them!

  2. At least ending up prone is more realistic than standing from something like a rough landing or landing to fast.

But having this prone and stand up animation by default? Military soldier do not do that unless they screw up.

But you can add this to the long list of unrealistic things that need to be fixed.

  3. Im glad this thread is open.

I made a mission with 5.56 mod pack rifles, and other mods to make it more today's date.

To find the 5.56's do about the same damage as a nerf-gun.

extended armour is understandable for the use of difficulty levels.

However the vast indifference between opfor and blufor armour values is mad, relating to the chest pieces that is. (availability)

In context, my mission poses enemy units with harnesses and belts, not rigs or plates. yet it still takes 4-5+ shots to down a target with a 5.56.

Combat simulator, not call of duty simulator. I didn't know A3 involved the juggernaut perk.

it should be (at centre mass)

    9mm 1/2 (within range)

.45 1(within range) 2 (out of effective range)

5.56 2 (within range) 3 (out of effective range)

6.5 1 (within range) 2 (out of effective range)

7.62 1 (within range) 2 (out of effective range)

    .50/.408 1 shot no question

if body armour is involved then the increase should be by a variable of like 50% more damage needed (at a maximum (that being plate carrier))

You should understand realistic does not mean BF4 hardcore mode. Things aren't always easy to kill, those easy to kill locations are usually protected in the real world.

If you think anti material rifles are one hit kill in real life you are crazy. Some body armor types can protect from them. They also pass through targets without spreading out inside the body like other bullets.

Any changes should be made from real world knowledge and data. Not someone guessing.

  4. we need no new engine because this is the one that does the job. the others still have to prove they are even remotely capable of it.

what we need though is full physX support and not some half assed "it's in there, i'm done here" approach.

gearboxes for cars have been brought up by modders trying to make cars behave more realistic.

script access to ragdoll. more "physical" objects overall. the world is static. let physX help you achieve things.

    improved destruction. simpler more effective.

    This^

Physx can give us highly realistic cars, walking on vehicles native support, better destruction than BF4 (We can destroy anything), key holes, more control over friction, actual waves and many other things.

BI said we would have great opportunities for modding with Physx, but we need full Physx integration first to make this a reality.

  5. I figure a few of the things they cut were due to the "Law of Unintended Consequences". Like wearing any uniforms or attaching explosives to vehicles. Okay sure it makes it a bit more difficult to do some of the things I want to do in my missions, but it sure beats a sensationalist headline like "Game Developer makes suicide car bomber simulator".

You can already make a car bomber simulator. Things were cut because they were scripted not engine based.

What wrong with wanting to simulate something close to the Taliban and American troops for players to play on? It was done all the time in Arma 2. I used car bombs and IEDs in Arma 2, so what? BI isn't an American company.

And that's a bad thing? I would rather they be sure something is going to be in than promise the moon and base hype and anticipation on it, which sadly is what seems to have happened. It really doesn't matter if you know what's coming, as long as it's coming. If they introduce X feature, you or I knowing about it before it's actually released and functional means very little, except to hype us up for it. That doesn't mean that it's not nice that they share info, just that I would rather the info be more accurate than what we heard over the last couple of years about ArmA 3 versus what we got.

It would be nice to know what they tried, did it work or didn't it. It was more open and personal rather than just being for hyping us up and increasing sales. The whole hyping up is from the newer generation of gamers were dev comments advertisements.

This thread will get us nowhere. And the Op should have searched for the original thread as a new one was not needed.

  6. Seriously? If a dev says 'I like horses' this forums turns that into 'ArmA3 will have fully working, rideable horses, officially confirmed, fingers crossed, pinky swear'. It is ridiculous and it should stop.

EDIT: Though i dont really understand why they dont add some of the content that was already in just for the sake of having it. It was probably because it wasnt finished, all we saw was an ingame model, which doesnt mean that it is working properly in any way whatsoever.

In any case, the lack of female civilians annoys me, but it would be hard to argue that it was a promised feature.

Sadly this thread will continue to have people that believe their "horses were cut from the game after being told they were going to be added. And then complaining about it and making BI share less information with us.

They stopped telling us what was in the works and what was planned until it is for sure going to be added. Because of all the complainers and the last thread like this. Now nothing is confirmed or denied unless it is 99% likely to happen.

  7. This gif is better than a 1000 words: http://img2u.info/ckgni/i/g7c1722c6.gif

I'm having a hard time getting a grip of your posts, you sure seem to have a lot of things to say and you talk a lot, but you seem to be saying basically nothing.

There's not really much to say in the first place other than it's something that should be fixed. We don't even know if this is intended so it could be a bug that slipped into the game.

  8. I am getting very tired too about those problems and i am personally loosing interest in game...

Think getting worse when you try to create a stealth mission: if you use a silencer you need 4\6 bullets and in the meanwhile the enemy spot you and shoot ruining the mission...

That's because silencers are broken. They act in both sound and bullet damage as though you are shooting subsonic rounds.

  9. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!! Wishing all and everyone a joyous and glow filled Holiday!!! :xmas:

To all my atheist and science minded friends - wishing you all a very pragmatic Black Hole Introspection day! An evenhanded day in which we contemplate the Universe's inevitable retraction into the singularity. YAY!

    :jesus::don 15:

Just because I'm not religious doesn't mean I don't celebrate Christmas. Who would pass up on the family time and free things? :)

  10. This is how i would reconfigure the dmg from assault weapons:

    http://imageshack.us/a/img600/7597/mqjb.jpg

I don't want someone guessing this. It should be realistic.

    ---------- Post added at 22:56 ---------- Previous post was at 22:54 ----------

No. But we don't hope too much. I'd settle for a happy medium. :)

We shouldn't let them think they can take the easy way out with a few changes. Look at Dayz, and it's body armor system or VBS's body Armor system. That is what we should be aiming for.

  11. Name 20 of them.

This is something that would benefit AI but shouldn't exist for the player. This currently makes higher speeds safer to travel at and visually produces horrible clipping. This is something that needs to be fixed.

This is actually something that we had that was similar to VBS3 with it's advanced vehicle physics but now we have a downgrade of Arma vehicle physics.

  12. So the wheel collisions are completely messed up. I was trying to test if Arma 3 has or uses something similar to Raycast wheel simulations but I can't because the wheels don't even collide with objects. How long have wheel collisions been broken?

Good news is Arma 3's driving physics compared to the VBS3 driving video are pretty similar. Bad news is we need dynamic control over friction and like I said above, the wheels and bottoms of vehicles seems to have their collision disabled and then this effect is increased with the higher the speed.

Edit: It appears like its the entire bottom have of the vehicle that has collisions disabled.

  13. Awesome work guys! The quality is absolutely incredible!

Quick question though, are you guys bringing any of the Arma 2 vanilla vehicles and upgrading them to the mods quality?

Also, have you considered hooking the RG-31's antenna up to the suspension? Someone did that back in OFP and it made the vehicle a lot more lively. :)
