What is the fog like in Arma3 compared to 2 (poppins and so on)?
Zyromkiru replied to mrcash2009's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
http://s304.photobucket.com/user/guza44/library/Arma%203 First 5 Images I put fog at a certain % in the editor and took a screen shot, daylight and cloudy. Be sure to read the labels -
Due to the failure of the server host for putting a simple marker on your allies if I shoot a friendly because I'm not sure I say tough cookies. If I don't know then it's not my problem

buy it... it's cheaper anyways.. They give you a free demo and you request more..

NEW NVIDIA BETA 314.21 FIX for lots of problems

I personally didn't see any difference myself but can't win them all -
Is the dev build causing constant "no message received" errors?
Zyromkiru replied to mr_lahey's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I think so because that's all I ever got once i switched, im switching back to the other version for a test (already did last night, had to clear that up) so last night I played on a match and didn't get kicked out and barely had any red chain issues but 90% of the time while trying to get into a server the game crashes. When I play on Dev build game doesn't crash but the servers always do... Choices... choices... -
NEW NVIDIA BETA 314.21 FIX for lots of problems
Zyromkiru replied to andressergio's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I do notice stuttering in this game but only sometimes so I am going to test this new driver out tonight and see how it does. If I use regular vysnc I never see tearing at all although if I have AA turned on it likes to cap me at 30 FPS in most areas so it drops from 60 to 30. so now I use adaptive vysnc and deal with minimal tearing. -
Drivers are something to expect when the game is in Beta or Finished... don't expect any for this game (or any that do much for this game) before then. You sir have no idea what you're talking about. That card is not horrible and still pretty powerful. Sure it's not great compared to a newer card but who cares really?

1-5 FPS with max visibilty 12x12 km on plain water
Zyromkiru replied to NeuroFunker's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
This is a no duh situation although rendering the water i believe is harder than rendering land in front of you. Could be wrong but ya, I noticed usually when I stare into the water my gpu and cpu usage go down -
Someone could go make those helmets/body armor right now... there is no such thing as too futuristic.

ATI Radeon HD 5450 cant handle the monitor. Even if you are still at 1280x720 the image still needs to be stretched too 1280x720 on a 1280x720 screen works better than 1280x720 on a screen that's 26in and has a native of 1920x1080.

Separate options for DOF, Blur and Glare, Ambient Occlusion ?
Zyromkiru replied to grandstack's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
The motion blur in this game is so slight it doesn't bother me and I HATE motion blur in games. I have my setting on low since it adds that extra layer of lighting that i feel necessary and without the performance loss -
It's very interesting how this game works... I have 4 cores and I actually see the rest of them being used a little bit more in certain areas (still no 90%+ which is what it should be).. Let me show you 2 pictures and how they react different as far as FPS and usage. In other scenes I have noticed that both gpu and cpu usage drop like a rock when AI are firing at eachother... so having them rendered isn't an issue but once they fight the gpu and cpu give up completely and then you see a performance drop. (this has been mentioned before but is a confirmed issue at this point) Picture 1: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/846947854002207564/86034EBCF1A6BFDDD987A658938A136DE4FECEC1/ [GPU] 98% [CPU] Core: 80-85% Core: 70-80% Core: 50-65% core: 50-60% [FPS] 50 Picture 2: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/846947854002208699/6E4EEDE171B614A10F999B5E5E197557633BD461/ [GPU] 70-80% [CPU] Core: 86-92% Core: 44-57% Core: 34-46% core: 25-42% [FPS] 40 Settings: res: 1920x1080 (render 100%) overall - 5000 object - 1000 shadow - 100 vsync - (nvidia adaptive) Antialiasing - x4 PPAA - FXAA Ultra ATOC - All trees + grass Post Processing - Low HDR - Standard Anistropic Filtering - Ultra PIP - Ultra Dynamic Lights - Ultra Texture - Ultra Objects - Ultra Terrain - Very High Cloud - Ultra Shadow - Ultra Particles - Very High System: OS: Windows 7 64-bit M/B: Asrock z77 extreme 4 GPU: MSI 660 Twin Frozr CPU: Intel i5-3570k ivy bridge Ram: 8GB DDR3

Making your game ready for Multiplayer
Zyromkiru replied to Zyromkiru's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
We do really need to crack down on some info :O -
Just want to share some info with players so they may get a better experience. Do keep in mind that some servers just aren't good, ping will lag you, multiplayer in general isn't very optimized or utilizes cpu/gpu (Talk about it Here -This is for the game in general though.) I recommend checking what your Computer handles better.. Click the highest graphics setting and work your way down to see what gives you drops or not. Now you all should know what certain settings really hurt you and what I've done on my personal computer to increase my FPS tenfold while being able to have good graphics. Overall: 2000-5000 Depends on servers anyways , thanks Bobby Budnick for this info Object: 1000-2000 1000 is a good performance/view combo Shadow: 75-200 Object Distance is the main killer and Overall is changed through player menu or not changed at all on most servers. I have listed both the good settings and the bad. Red means big FPS drops (avoid these options) All Other options in Gray are recommended as far as getting performance/visuals at the same time. Vysnc: OFF/ON Antialiasing: x2/x4/x8 PPAA: FXAA Ultra ATOC: All Trees + Grass Post Processing: Low/Normal/High/Very High HDR Quality: Standard Anisotropic Filtering: Very High/Ultra PIP: OFF Dynamic Lights: High/Very High/Ultra Texture Quality: Very High/Ultra Object Quality: Very High/Ultra Terrain Quality: High/Very High/Ultra Cloud Quality: Very High/Ultra Shadow Quality: Low/Standard/High Particles Quality: Any For most cases Very High is just fine Server Info: -Wasteland Servers need a re-work before playing on so avoid them unless you want less performance than other servers. -Ping: Try and Stay below 100, lower the better -Opt into the Dev Build for multiplayer (Click for thread), thanks Tvrdi for mentioning that [improved FPS to the equivalent of singleplayer!]

Share your first Arma3 Beta Impressions (all first impression type posts here pls)
Zyromkiru replied to fabrizio_t's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Day one: +Game is Pretty optimized for an Alpha on singleplayer +Visuals are amazing +Smooth movement/turning +Stances, Stances, Stances!! +Combat mode +run/walk is nice but stops you +Easy button configuration which act fast +Grenade throwing made easy -Bad shadows -Multiplayer not optimized enough -crashes (Alpha so this happens) -buggy showcases -Cant figure out how to use flashlight on guns or if it's even possible yet -PIP low-ultra all give same amount of performance and look the same 3/12/2013 +Dev build & good server is actually playable (but still needs better cpu usage, etc.) +Visual tweaks are nice +Improved shadows but still have issues +Almost performance on multiplayer as singleplayer Game is taking a good turn and this is something I rarely see now days. -
Instead of reporting a bug... where do I report Good feedback that doesn't involve bugs? I have searched EVERYWHERE and call me blind but I seriously dont know

Making your game ready for Multiplayer

due to the last update you cant join normal servers (which is good for stability) but only few servers have the update -
I have mine up to date but accidentally pressed the wrong option

Making your game ready for Multiplayer
Zyromkiru replied to Zyromkiru's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
For example... having Terrain Quality on Ultra lowers your FPS a lot more than it should and does absolutely nothing for you quality wise so even in singleplayer that should be Very High and nothing more. Have you even toyed with the settings? some of them look identical but with better performance. I don't care about everyone trolling because they have a High End PC and no one is listening or reading really. Go ahead and turn everything on Ultra if you want but it's pointless as it gives no benefit visually in some of the settings. I have a higher end pc and I use some settings higher than this but I do lower certain ones. This is a lot better info then the video that was posted on Arma 3's facebook page . He does bring up the point that Very High in most settings aren't really any different which is smart but in other areas such as shadows he isn't even testing the right areas nor does he mention how low shadows can be less performance than high or standard.Things like post process look good on low (better on higher settings but not needed) so it's just about tweaking. For example I get amazing FPS in this game but in certain areas you will see a lot more demanding things around you and if you just Ultra everything it can drop you. This thread isn't really for People with an i7 processor and a 680 or a 7970. People need to start with their settings on high and work their way down and find the sweet spots since some settings on lower can be worse and I've seen this in other games as well on many different rigs. Also other people provided info of them having a so called "outdated" computer and they still get good FPS so that has absolutely no relevance to anything -
Making your game ready for Multiplayer
Zyromkiru replied to Zyromkiru's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
Most people with weaker cards expect more out of this game and as far as single player this game is beyond amazing FPS wise. Multiplayer isn't at all nor does it even use the cpu or gpu very much. In singleplayer distance doesn't mean much at all and I can crank that up all I want but MULTIPLAYER isn't stable enough. Which is exactly why I am in the multiplayer section and even for singleplayer tweaking unneeded settings does give a nice boost to make sure you keep that 60 FPS. Edit: I stand corrected with the fact I have found servers that actually don't suck. But all the other info is pretty darn accurate as those extra settings aren't needed -
Rendering grass at long distances: My thoughts about it
Zyromkiru replied to Elcoo's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I run singleplayer with flying sparks on my computer and things like this wouldn't have much of an impact. I like this idea The one thing that lagged me horridly was spawning an army shooting at eachother across mountains.. that brings down the lag hammer. -

1) not sure i follow 2) Takes me a few pistol hits but im sure it's the vest protecting them some, also when i use a stronger gun ppl drop like a rock. Also depends on the servers and not the game as some servers have bad ping, etc or have a short delay and so they will die a bit after you shoot them 3) I see almost no difference in roles or need for a medic at the moment and yes I want to see more things as well 4) This would be nice yes but not #1 priority of course

my gfx card is usually around 80% but will jump to 99% for a second in some areas. my CPU cores were all at about 50% except my first core which was about 70%.

Graphical Artifacts with AA Enabled
Zyromkiru replied to Fighter139's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
mess around with your texture filtering etc. in your graphics settings in game AND on your drivers. had this issue with minecraft when I had a certain setting turned on and it looked exactly the same. Also AA + FXAA looks good in this game because this fxaa in the game isnt your normal blur edges fxaa
