I also believe this is a good route to take and anyone who shows a bunch of hype is what I will stay away from. For example..Aliens: Colonial Marines was a mess and they had a lot of hype and showed E3 footage that was not in end game and since this is alpha and we have gotten recent ingame footage of how the game looks I KNOW we aren't getting slapped in the face. Minecraft was and always will be a good example of how to run things sandbox style

hopefully the next arma will utilize ram

What's the first thing you're going to do on Alpha?
Zyromkiru replied to zukas3's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
graphics settings and performance to see how well the game is currently playable and then I want to test the controls. -
I'll mention that things need improvement once I'm actually in the game
-
I personally have the 5th off and plan on buying the game as soon as it comes out so when are you guys buying it? :)

Physx can be forced onto the gpu with nvidia cards so we should have the option of GPU or CPU. Also I think in one of their videos they might have mentioned gpu or cpu for the physx Also this: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?119512-Arma-3-Confirmed-features-info-amp-discussion

Also people saying because it's a new engine and new technology in no way what so ever means it will need a stronger PC. It's all about the optimization and sometimes newer things are less stressful on the hardware. But since we will be in alpha we can help them make it optimized which is essentially a part of what we are doing already.

It really would be nice seeing that now days since 64-bit is more than necessary.

What is the fastest way of purchasing the game?
Zyromkiru replied to SteelBlade's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Just remember there will be a lot of people downloading this game at once so your speed may not be at peak. -
For alpha I expect playable at least on some settings. For Full release I do expect it to have better performance than Arma 2 or near the same if it's not playable on release with the goods turned on then it's not worth releasing. Can't simulate something if it doesn't run well. I'm not concerned however.

The offer should still be the same until Beta launches which is in Q2 of this year. If people wanna try before they buy then that won't be a problem but people just gotta remember its ALPHA so things will change. (Beta is € 10 more but still cheaper than release)

wake up, work, get home and check Arma3 website, go to bed every day

Nothing wrong with Valve and are FAR different from EA. EA destroys everything they touch, im surprised they didn't screw up battlefield 3, the launching from webbrowser sucks but its tolerable

You can switch accounts on steam easily.. although if you want a box yes you will have to wait it seems unless you wanted to get the alpha now and got a box later and just gave the key to someone else.. but ya. personally this doesn't affect me because I always have no place to put my boxes anyways so digital doesn't bother me. Yes as you see in the purchase page it shows the price for Alpha and the price for Beta and for the supporters edition it's the same cost and that also means it will be purchasable during beta. ALTHOUGH there is no price for when the game is released so it won't be available during that time.

Full steam ahead text: Ready-made functionality Arma 3 Steamworks offers a library of features which we can fairly quickly hook into Arma 3. Some of them we wanted to develop anyway, but to do it ourselves would again cost valuable resources. External solutions have their own issues, such as the lack of immediate control, but Steamworks saves us needed time. We can take what we want, make adjustments and make sure it all benefits players and mod makers. I am convinced that without this choice, most of the features would not be available at all. it was stated :)

Things you wish NOT to have in the game!
Zyromkiru replied to NeuroFunker's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I think it's kind of a downfall as well and we will see soon... in Arma 2 without AA is terrible to look at. This is a simulation so things probably wont be perfect as far as every visual and I am at least happy the did an extreme upgrade on the lighting and it looks better than most games anyways. Grass looks great at least Also the E3 videos from around 7 months ago had the same visuals for the trees/bushes. Doubt it will be changed much -
It's not anything in my pc that is the problem. Hopefully the game has more optimization and I MIGHT find out during the alpha (despite the performance possibly being better later on) if there are any building areas in that 20km of space. I am using a 660 GTX, i5-3570k, 8gb ram and can run any game on ultra/high. I play Arma 2 and use vsync cus in most places I have 60 fps but in towns in certain spots it drops a little below 30 fps. I have AA turned on so the grass and everything else isnt ugly also I have shadows turned off cus certain areas the shadows like to disappear and so when I move another step they reappear and its just annoying as all heck. I'd hope so but if not no biggy as this is a test and just getting to test it makes me chill as waiting for Q3 would kill me.
-
If the game puts me in the 20-30 range in the towns I'll be highly disappointed. Which is what Arma 2 is currently doing and I exceed the recommended for Arma 3 by a long shot so I except good results.

(except supporter edition) Forgot you wanted supporter It will be on steam as you can only play even the alpha on steam and they said they could only do this because of steam. So no worries there
-
Question: Do you get instant access to Alpha/Beta with Supporter's edition?
Zyromkiru replied to justiceabove's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
If they just give you a code all you will have to do is just add it to the steam library which takes 2 seconds. -

Not everyone really can fork the money out... and not everyone will but I know BIS will get their deserved money :)

accidental post again... remove if u want. anyways: Very excited that I saw the website up. Didn't expect news as great as this
-
Well if I had my tax return i'd prob get supporter but otherwise I'm prob just gonna get the Alpha version. Reminds me of Minecraft because you could buy the game cheaper if you were their for the start. Either way I need to feed my addiction of wanting to play this game even if the Alpha is 20k that's enough for me to get my fix. I want to test compatibility, see how developed the game is for Alpha (don't care about bugs due to it being an alpha and i expect them), see the new lighting is a big one for me and testing all the new positions and movement.

For people freaking out this is only so steam doesn't have millions of people going after them for stupid reasons. If you actually read the agreement for ANYTHING online they will be quite the same and sound bad. I have been on steam for a while and they have been great to me. If you want rights taken away get involved with apple/itunes and such and they literally will screw you over since all they personally want is money. I have before I had to have no internet on my laptop for about a week so I used offline mode and worked fine
