CO08 Escape Chernarus Ports for Altis and Stratis.
TehXenos replied to Vormulac's topic in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
Hey, huge fan of the escape series, and its nice to finally have a suitable version for Altis (still yet to escape, but having a blast each time), and I was just wondering if you had worked out the compatible addons for the server param? I had a look through the files to see how it might work, but had no luck. Also unrelated, but twice we've had enemies spawn quite close to us while at the saltpan area of altis, even with spawn distance set to Far. First time happened just after shooting down the chopper, so it might have glitched out a paradrop script or something, but the second time we were on our way to the exfil point and a group spawned within 100-150m of us. Normally we'd just assume they snuck up on us, but given we were on the flat saltpan area they couldn't have gotten that close without us seeing them from a distance. -
FHQ M4 for Arma 3 (Prerelease)

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560969195569485470/1A11E90C02A4921A7021CD74F5784C97BF485C33/ Not the best picture showing it off, but its the only one I remembered to take. Models are decent, and the things he pointed out above are true enough. Past that, attachments work well and the gun itself is quite fun to use. EDIT: Picture might be too massive, hidden it in a spoiler atm but it might get moderated. -
My issues are similar with some of these people, in that I get great FPS in singleplayer and it drops pretty significantly when with lots of AI (which is fair enough) and when in multi (which isn't ideal), but overall its not that bad. I'd be happy if performance was better in multiplayer, but its still playable for me for the most part. Its only when I host servers with a couple people spread out amongst the map causing trouble that it reaches unplayable levels. I'm confident Arma 3 will alleviate some of the performance issues people are having, and I'd much rather have these issues in alpha (its been 4 days haha) than in release. I get over 60fps on most things ultra in singleplayer, and likely 40-60 in most multiplayer situations. When under the pump (packed wasteland servers, etc.) its somewhere around 30, which is annoying but still very playable. I'm running 1080p on a 2500K @ 4.0 and a 680 OC.

Uninstall ZoneAlarm if Alpha not starting

Dude, you have no idea how much I love you right now. Was up from midnight to 3am downloading, then 3am-6am trying to fix it, before redownloading and trying again. Found this thread and boom, fixed instantly. You're a (virtual) lifesaver. -
Yeah I'm having the same issue. 2500k and gtx680. Tried all my usual steam tricks as well as beta drivers, directx etc. and still no luck.

I can't be the only one wanting to know what time and timezone these go on sale. Either way, I'll be grabbing the supporter. With the amount of hours I've sunk into arma and the sheer amount of fun memories I have from it, its easily worth it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the other games (possibly sell them to a friend), but hopefully there are DLCs that I'm going to be eligible to get for free with it. I'd love if I ended up in the first 500, but given the difference in timezones and it being my first week back at university, I'm unlikely to be available.

Well there was the thing from rocket that someone found earlier, and I'm listening now but nothing so far. ---------- Post added at 11:00 ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 ---------- Well there was just something about sahrani radio there, and it said a website (sounded like it started with a W) but I didnt hear it as people on TS spoke at the same time :(

As referred to by rocket in the m3u earlier, http://www.lemnosradio.com/ Contains the numbers Tel: +32-3-238.37.32 Tel: +32-3-242.98.90 Fax: +32-3238.99.95 along with an business name and address. I'm assuming these are related as www.limnosradio.com is closed but references www.lemnosradio.com

Thats rocket, AKA rocket2guns, the creator of DayZ. You can tell via his voice, you can hear him talk here

But think about it, that page was from within the ARG that we're seeing now, and its dated last year. The only reason for that is if a) the ARG was planned at least last year and is just being unveiled now, or b) they intentionally put in the wrong release year (Its unlikely they'd purposefully make the release date clearly incorrect). Either way, nothing else can come out of that page AFAIK, so I reckon we move on and find some more clues.
-
I know about it being in the about the site (my bad, I thought I had mentioned that in the post), I was just noticing that its been mentioned at least twice so it might be more important to the ARG than we think (as in, you might need lots of things from the alpha, not just a few). Yeah I originally thought that about the 2012 thing (that it didn't make sense), but if they had designed the ARG previously but simply waited until now to grab a domain and start it, it would still kinda make sense.

I'm personally quite happy its going to be on steam, though I do understand some people getting irritated by not having the choice. That said, they mentioned strongly in the devblog that without steam the 2013 release would be impossible. If the game had still not come out by the end of 2013 (the whole time in development costing them money) there could have been a serious risk of the game not coming out at all. I mean, look at how many gaming companies have gone under in the past 6-12 months, and how many more are struggling? I'd much rather get a product locked to steam than a) wait longer, b) risk not having the game at all, and c) risk losing one of my favourite companies in the gaming industry.

I've been following this, though I usually don't even bother trying to help (I'm pretty awful at this sorta stuff), but I was going through some of the source code on various parts of the altis quest site, and I got to http://altis-quest.com/?feed=rss2&page_id=17 In that, there is some german text (as well as a couple things with older information, Arma 3 coming 2012 etc.) muss wohl auch die arma 3 alpha gespielt haben um bei manchen steps weiter zu kommen which when run through a translator (so its going to be rough/incorrect) is should probably have played arma 3 alpha to succeed at some steps further So I'm wondering how far we can actually proceed without the alpha, seeings its been mentioned at least twice. Also, it looks like the ARG was planned in 2012, and was always planned to involve players investigating within the alpha, so hopefully the appearance of the ARG now means that the alpha isn't too far off.

Wrooooong bit, my bad.
