Welcome to the 3rd Battalion, The Rifles Introduction Welcome to the 3rd Battalion, The Rifles. We are an Arma 2 and Project Reality clan aimed at recreating the 3rd Battalion, The Rifles. We are a bunch of good friends that aim for realism and excitement of military combat. We also aim to play as realistic as possible. We don't care how good or bad you are as we are strong believers in Teamwork. Every man is as important to the unit as each other. Training and Operations Active Combat Training, playing co-op missions to learn on the job as it were. None of that boring lectures (unless absolutely necessary) Organisation The 3RIFLES is company size unit, despite the "Battalion" in the name. The CO is a Lieutenant Colonel, however he will command the Company-size unit. There is five Platoons within A (Queen Elizabeth II) Company, they are 1 (Windsor) Platoon Which have HQ & Recce Section and 1 (Commando) Section, 2 (Assault) Platoon, 3 (Manoeuvre Support) Platoon, 4 (Support) Platoon and 5 (Reserve) Platoon. Each platoon specialises in a certain field however when it comes down to it, each platoon is working on foot during the fire fight, its just how they get from A to B. Due to the slightly more advanced nature of the platoons role, 3 and 4 platoons are smaller, and require previous experience in either 1, 2 or 3 platoons. A platoon is split up into Sections. These are eight man fighting teams, commanded by a full Corporal (Cpl), and there are three Sections within a Platoon. As well as the Cpl there is a Lance Corporal (L/Cpl), who will take over if the Cpl is killed or becomes a casualty. There is then the Platoon Commander (PC), and a Platoon Sergeant (Sgt). He is the mummy, and PC is the daddy. The Sgt looks after them, and PC leads them into battle. Above the PC are the more senior PC's such as Captains and Lieutenants, then there is the Commander, the Lieutenant Colonel (LtCol). This is the highest position in the 3RIFLES and it is highly unlikely you will make this position, unless the current LtCol. decides to resign. The 3RIFLES forms part of a Brigade of other groups - called 12 Mechanised Brigade. The other groups include the RGG (Regiment of the Grenadier Guards), who primarily focus on PvP, and are the banner-carriers for the mod Project Reality. The other unit are Royal Anglian Regiment, The Black Watch, a WW2 unit from the 12 Mech, who focus on the I44 mod. These groups support each other during games, financially, and build each other up. Essentially, a very close allegiance. There is also the Armoured unit, the Kings Royal Hussars (KRH), who work with the Challenger 2 tanks and other armoured vehicles in support of the Infantry. Also, there is 656 Squadron Army Air Corps, who provide our Air Support. You can apply through our website to join this unit, however you will be providing Air Support to all the units within the Brigade. Mods and Gameplay Style We play a number of games including ARMA 2: PR BF2:PR We play with a number of mods - some you can get off Six Updater, others you cannot.
