  1. If you do not wish to know how the game ends, please don't continue to read this thread... Q. Is there more than one type of ending to Carrier Command ? Thanks for any response given. Just a simple yes/no answer to the question will do, as too not give any unnecessary information out.
  2. same here I can't find any information on the second ending,

    Manta hook

Yes i would like to see it become a command from the map also a way of launching from the carrier with a walrus already attached.

    mouth-to-mouth advertising

FAO original poster Whilst I would always agree the walrus antics are sometimes ridiculous adapting to the problem includes a good mixture switching to direct control, individual way points, using them in two teams of two, etc all help but never the less there's still times when it happens. Getting stuck on tree's and rocks whilst under fire is by far the worse time for the walrus to practice its love making, but under normal circumstances its more laughable than annoying. The one that winds me right up is that the path finding algorithmic patterns state to me that the walrus can get up that cliff face when really it just cant, or when told to dock it plans a route right around the island. Despite being at the side of the carriers location. But your also right you can still enjoy the game, I recently started using the manta hook to transport a walrus to the research center after taking control of the island and then bring it back home. Just to avoid the annoying parts of the drive there, or where possible send a single walrus to the research center in advance of taking the island. But the most secure method of fighting against the effects until the patch arrives is plenty of saving. When I am asked the question "Is it worth playing or buying" I tell them to try the demo, and if you buy it be prepared for some disappointment but don't let that effect your decision and if your unsure wait till it comes down in price a little. For myself I am glad of my purchase regardless of its shortfalls.
  5. The first person sections of the game are nothing more than a bonus... The biggest suggestion would be to lower the mouse movement in half, and make them a little more harder in difficulty, however all this aside, its not why I purchased this game, Its not what I was expecting after watching pre-release video footage or playing the demo version. There are nothing short of a little bonus material which generally speaking don't ruin my experience.
  6. Well now that sounds as much fun as getting angry about the game... I wont bother looking if its all the same.
  7. Whenever someone has spent money on a product not to their satisfaction they will undoubtedly be a degree of anger from that individual, as well they will be a slight disappointment from the developers who placed they time rather than money into the very same product. You make some very good points, and for the most part would be inclined to agree with many of them. For nothing else other than the very same points you made angered myself. I almost threw in the towel alongside with yourself. But unless you try every avenue and overlook shortcomings what remains is just a waste of your money. However if you follow the following advice based upon my experience and cross referencing your valid points, i can offer you the following advice. Hold shift key whilst targeting, to slow down the mouse movement and use right mouse button to zoom on longer shots. side stepping (strafing) will help control the mouse movement a little under heated moments as well. & http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?141562-Campaign-Mode-Enemy-Carrier&p=2240106#post2240106 please see this thread the answer and the gentle words of persuasion are they for you too read if you look hard enough. Forget every island apart from your trade route and your outpost let it take the rest, just maintain your presence and fight on the new islands only in order to obtain the technology that is required to finish the game and make life easier fro yourself. If you can tolerate this, your have it in yourself to discover the good in this game, but like myself you have got to get beyond your current mode of thinking, and accept things for what they are. the walrus AI can be put to good use by using a mixed fleet in order to create a temporary base camp that can effectively hold off all attack types well. then using a manta fleet as a strike force, sending it back n forth between carrier and targets clear islands very well as you get better tech. This is the same part that lead me to the forums, quit focusing so much on the AI carrier and concentrate on the mission objectives. Now we can discuss how bad certain parts of the game anytime, we could even be more constructive, ask for help, ask questions, complete the game, and then we are both constructive and informed about what we say. Because unless you are prepared to take the rough with the smooth, all you have in your hand is wasted money. When you could have so much more. We all get angry, but I want you too use the anger for a better benefit than simply to make complaints. making non informed complaints makes you look bad, but making a complaint that has a informed aspect leads to more respect.
  8. What is the point to the enemy carrier, I have destroyed it now a few times in the campaign story and it just comes back, so I see no valid reason in hunting it down at all. So I then leave it alone and let it take two islands at the rate I take one which doesn't require much mathematics to understand that the war to control all the islands is against the player. Choices: 1. follow the carrier around endless killing it 2. follow the carrier around and retake islands it conquers 3. let the carrier take all my islands and just sit protecting a single island for a laugh What is the point of all this ? Don't get me wrong there's a degree of fun to be had conquering islands, but if the overall result is this... Does the carrier actually ever stay dead at any point ? Is it actually possible to conquer all the islands if your only taking 1 for his every two ? In the meantime, life's too short...
  9. It appears the time it takes the AI to conquer an island is longer when your engaged in taking a island yourself, since i was always in time warp chasing it around things were going to fast due to the speed of time, now I figured this out its not so annoying and I'm actually have a whale of a time. Thanks for the information on the supply chain. If anyone is interested, found a awesome setup for the fleet of manta aircraft: Works very well and really speeds up the island take over process...
  10. Thank you for the ray of hope, I stopped trying to kill the carrier and started to take islands over on the right side of fulcrum but by the time I had conquered the first of them the AI carrier had taken control of two of mine and since that time I have simply spent two days chasing it around island to island for each one i retake it takes another. I am assuming that based upon story lines I am trying to find a torpedo to attach to a manta, could you answer that once that is complete and used against the enemy carrier the game will end ? My best theory after reading your statement is too counter act the enemy by taking control of the same type of islands as the AI regains, thus making sure my current production rates and resource income is maintained until i get the required technology and then chase the carrier. If nothing else you have gave me something to try Species1571. Again Thanks
  11. I totally give in (I simply don't understand the logic of the game) its pretty much just a game of cat 'n' mouse with no substantial meaning or objective. I refuse to spend another four days running around like a headless chicken chasing an indestructible carrier around that is taking islands at twice the rate and speed that is possible for a human. Reluctantly turned of the game, But the frustration of what appears to be a futile never ending war is something i can only tolerate for a few hours per month.
  12. how did you finish it, keep it simple and direct, because I'm just getting steamrolled by the enemy carrier at every meeting or watching it take twice as many islands as myself (quicker than me too) so please tell me, how do you finish the campaign mode?
  13. I have never played the original version but after reading the forums a while it has become apparent to me that there's no multiplayer option in this release, so my question is was multiplayer part of the original version ? Because if this function was absent from the original I wouldn't expect or think that it will make an appearance in the first place since researching the title suggest's that they tried to maintain the game play from the original version back in '98
