yeah a 3d editor is a must.. its a shame that guy in the vids did not let anynoe know how to access it.

why should it be enabled as default? I am not sure ti should be ni the game really as others have said it makes it too easy to look over walls and so on.. but it really should not be default option at all.. maybe they should change it a bit so as when you get close to cover it automatically zooms you back into first person and locks it like that nutil you move far enough away.

ARMA III looks a hell of a lot better than ARMA II did at release and quite a bit better than ARMA II in its current state.. remember over the years ARMA II has been available they added quite a few patches to improve things and the graphics got a lot better. ARMA III is a really good improvement its actually one of the better looking engines out there at the moment, but still we have to remember this is an alpha test we are testing the core engine mechanics and a couple of game features nothing else.. expect to see thigns get better as time goes on. But i was really impressed as soon as I started up ARMA III. i was expecting a lot worse.

Dial up? That does not exist anymore.. haha. BTW you dont have to run the steam updates you can just cancel them so that is not an excuse.. So what if every 30 days you need to connect to a server. .thats nothng even if somehow you still only have dial up where you live thats not the end of the world.. The game is on steam deal with it.. fi you cant then dont buy it simple as that.

ARMA 3 base terrain textures WORSE than the original Operation Flashpoint
caldrin replied to SandboxPlaya's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
as others have said we dont know it will be improved.. maybe they missed the issue themselves or somthing.. Its best any little things like this get brought up as early as possible.. even if we get a response from them saying " hey yeah we know and this will be sorted at a later stage" better to be safe than sorry :) -
According to 404s latest update the have a lot more working now http://www.404games.co.uk/forum/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F1676-404wasteland-102-for-arma3-now-with-groups-and-missions%2F will just take a bit of time for people to get that version up on the servers i guess.

ARMA 3 base terrain textures WORSE than the original Operation Flashpoint
caldrin replied to SandboxPlaya's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Didnt realy notice any issues when i was testing last night.. Do you have all the settings maxed out? I will have to take a proper look when i get home tonight.. Also can anything be done about it? well yeah i would say it just a color map applied to the terrain + normal map not really hard to get that re-done with better detail.. i would think the engine can handle it just fine. Also engine might use seperate textures after you get a certain distance.. they could just pop in better textures for that. -

Why buy A3 just so you could go online and ruin everyone's experience?
caldrin replied to lNTRUDER's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
you sadly always get some fools who get enjoyment out of doing this.. not just fps games but any MP game.. You used to get people hacking minecraft servers and destroying maps that people had spent months building up.. Its sad really that people get enjoyment from hacking.. -
YEah i forgot to mention both of those..

Do we need to install Nvidia PhysX driver?
caldrin replied to stk2008's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I would think yes. When the graphics card cant do Physx the CPU takes over but needs to use the software driver provided with the physx install. -
Anyone else struggling to complete the Infantry Showcase?
caldrin replied to mordeaniischaos's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
You would have to be a bloodt good marksman to be able to kill from the distance they can :) I guess the issue i have is that they always see you and get the first shots off, even if im sneaking around someitmes its next to impossible to see them at that distance.. Ill get some more testing in tonight as i only played for like an hour ding different things. -
"Authenticity" and Editor placement woes...
caldrin replied to reclusive7's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I have only had a quick mess around with the editor so far but I do agree we need a 3d editor. I am hopnig when they release the BIS tools that they have modernized them as well especially the map creator..any i guess thats far pertty far off anyway hehe :) -

I do find that the AI can see and fire from a stupidly far distance... sometime im dead before i even get chance to zoom in on them to fire at range.. the AI is jsut super accuracte on regular.. still I like the fact that the AI are quite hard to kill.. they do need to be tweaked a bit tho. -
Well first impressions are pretty good. I am running the game maxed out and getting really good fps and for an ARMA game in alpha that is pretty bloody awesome haha :) as for the game itself. graphics are amazing I must admit. Gameplay seems a lot more smooth as well, the movement is a lot better. A few issues i have are that the running animation looks a bit dodgy and the character speed just seems too fast and I ahve not found a way to sneak around.. but saying that i have not really checked out the key mapping yet :) Also the under water effects are not the best, exiting the water could put a water decal or somthing on your screen you have it on the binoculars when its raining so you can do somthing similar. Also under the water sems a bit basic whats there looks good but i think more could be done with light shafts and some other things. Still for an alpha this game s very stable and im looknig forward to seeing what else is to come :) Good work guys. So overall for an alpha test this is pretty awesome. ---------- Post added at 08:33 ---------- Previous post was at 08:13 ---------- Thats not quite right.. Alpha should be used to test core game engine features, you start off with a few and keep adding more things in and fixing bugs along the way. Beta is basically the final game dont usually add more engine features at this point and is mainly there to test gameplay features.. missions etc etc..
