Yesterday I bought Arma 2: Combined Operations on Steam. Whenever I open the game it either lags and freezes horribly, or comes up with one of those "...is not responding" messages then will crash. Even when I play on the lowest settings, the game still lags and freezes. The menu will lag and freeze as well. When I start the game and if it works, the menu will lag, feeze, and skip. When I go to the options menu it does the same. Whenever I get into a multiplayer game, I can usually play for 3 seconds then it FREEZES for 5 - 10 seconds and so on. When I say freeze, I mean I cannot move at all. My system meets the requirements. Here are my system specs: - Intel Celeron Dual Core 2.6 GHZ - 4GB DDR3 RAM - ATI Radeon HD 6450 1GB - Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) Please help me resolve this issue. Thanks!

I just updated my graphics card. It is a Radeon HD 6450 1GB. It is not the best, but it should work for this game, even on low settings. My power supply is 220 W. It is low, but my video card is not connected to it so it should'nt really matter. When I opened up my PC I took off the heat sink and noticed that the thermal compound is somewhat dry, should that affect the performance? If I get new thermal compound will that change my performance to make it better?

- My video settings are on the lowest. - When I try to verify the integrity of the cache, I get this error: "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired" - Even when Arma is the only thing running, I still have the same issues.

1. I know but it should work fine. I have seen Arma 2 run on Pentium 4 single cores. 2. But it should be ok. 3. How do i find my HDD speed? 4. I am up to date with them. 5. What are arma2.cfg settings and where can i find them? Also, I hear that disabling hyperthreading in my BIOS can help. I opened up my pc last night and noticed that the thermal paste is messed up and kind of dry on my cpu and heat sink. Is this affecting my performance?
