United States Air Force( 2015)
randomslap replied to SGT Fuller's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
No it won't be part of the USAF mod. Fuller is going to make a new release thread for the F35C because it is not a USAF asset. It's not just a skin that makes the F35A into a F35C. If you compare the F35A and the F35C, there are noticeable differences. For example, the F35C's wingspan is larger and the F35A had an internal gun unlike the F35B and F35C. -

You mean the F35B ;) Just to clear things up, Fuller is working on the F35C as I work on the F35B. -

Don't worry, I won't make my F35B configured to PhysX. I am not a fan of PhysX on aircraft classes. I hope to see this awesome project in A3 by the time I release the F35B! Great work and keep it up! :) -
[WIP] Lockheed Martin's F35B Lightning II STOVL
randomslap replied to randomslap's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
So if you did not know, the F35 has 3 variants. The F35A CTOL is for the USAF. It can do conventional take-offs and landings. The F35B STOVL is for the USMC. It can do short take-offs and vertical landings. The F35C is designated to the USN. It is a carrier variant of the F35 (longer wingspan, an extra front wheel, and a tail hook). The F35B will have everything that is included on the USAF F35A or even more. I may release a "beta" sometime this summer. ---------- Post added at 13:17 ---------- Previous post was at 13:12 ---------- I don't think a screenshot of the boresight capability will be released this weekend. I will be traveling out of town to buy a car so I don't think I will have time. I am almost done with school, so I will be able to work on this project a lot more. -

Yeah I forgot to merge that into the C17 pbo. It should be changed in the next update or so. (I might forget to do it :P) -

randomslap replied to SGT Fuller's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
That bug might have to do with the model. The model contains a lot of polys and there are a lot of proxies as well. Due to those reasons, I think it is resulting to that issue in the picture. There is nothing that we could do to fix that. -

randomslap replied to SGT Fuller's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Due to the problems installing the mod from the complicated .rar file. We will reorganize the file so that it is an easy installation in the next update. All you will need to do is drag and drop different @folders. Here is an example: drag and drop @USAF_Required and @USAF_Fighters into the ArmA 3 folder for just the fighters from this mod pack. We are doing this for those who just want specific planes instead of using everything. -

[WIP] Lockheed Martin's F35B Lightning II STOVL
randomslap replied to randomslap's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The current F35B has an external gun pod, however there are weight issues and the STOVL mode. I am going to make this mod not that realistic where it has issues like that. I will make this F35B useable and enjoyable for community. I will include all of the ordinances that the F35A and F35C has. Although many of you asked for VTOL mode, I have decided that the feature is too unrealistic. Service menu, extremely cool DAS mode, and other unannounced useful features will be included in this mod. Kimi, FullerPJ, and John_Spartan have been greatly helpful in the development of this mod and I can't thank them enough. However my outside life has been affecting the development and it very frustrating, but I should be able to get back on track sometime in May. Thanks for your guy's patience. ---------- Post added at 21:38 ---------- Previous post was at 21:34 ---------- Lol sorry for my grammatical errors, I'm on my phone right now. I don't have time to be on the PC :P -
[WIP] Lockheed Martin's F35B Lightning II STOVL
randomslap replied to randomslap's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yeah... I've known that for awhile now. The F35B doesn't need the pilot's attention when hovering in place unlike the Harrier. -
[WIP] Lockheed Martin's F35B Lightning II STOVL
randomslap replied to randomslap's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Most likely, unless if most of the people disagree. Although I'm not a big fan of the vertical take off stuff, so I don't plan to make that a primary feature but I will have it implemented with some consequences to it. What I plan to do is add most of the ordinances/weapons that a Harrier and/or a F18 would have. ---------- Post added at 21:37 ---------- Previous post was at 21:34 ---------- Actually scratch that question :P lol. I'm just gonna add the external fuel tanks. -
[WIP] Lockheed Martin's F35B Lightning II STOVL
randomslap replied to randomslap's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
BTW should the F35B have external fuel tanks. As of today, the real F35B does not have external fuel tanks due to the lift fan's power. However, by 2035 I'm sure the F35B will be a lot more stable than today. -

randomslap replied to randomslap's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I am planning to release a "beta" version earlier to the actual release date. If I were to release a early version, you would have to download a 700mb pbo and 500mb or so of that is just unused stuff (planned textures, scripts, etc). I plan to release the beta when the model is complete and stable. I may have a closed alpha sometime next month, but I will assign testers that I trust. These testers can range from players to units. -

Burnin the LHD deck :P I'll post more pictures when I start working on this aircraft again. ---------- Post added at 23:08 ---------- Previous post was at 22:52 ---------- I am also focused on the cockpit as of right now. I have decided to use some content from Olli's F35C, but not as much. I plan to focus on the functionality of the MFD screen for the cockpit and the DAS system for the helmet w/ NVGs in the helmet. My main goal for this project is to recreate the realistic features that the actual F35B has. -
[WIP] Lockheed Martin's F35B Lightning II STOVL
randomslap replied to randomslap's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Honestly, I wouldn't see how they would accomplish that. The reason why the B has so much heat/power is because it needs it for it's operational purposes. If they were to fix/change the engine, it would make the F35B useless in the STOVL category. So it would be wise to change or reinforce the decks on the carriers. The external gun is most likely the only way for the F35B to have one. Due to all STOVL components there is not enough space to put one in unless if they change the design. However, if they do change the whole fuselage, it would need to go through another decade of testing. Overall the F35s are a big pain to deal with in real life, but they are some bad ass aircrafts in my opinion. BTW I have no new pictures to show because I am busy helping the USAF mod and it's final touches. I will get back on track around May and I hope I can release this sometime during the summer season.
