In reality though, this isn't a game-breaker for me at least, but it takes away from the feel of authenticity and credibility attributed to the game. Even in something like battlefield 2 the flight model, while not being anything near a simulation, was not forgiving, you could stall very easily (speed stall). It felt you were flying a plane through air instead of butter. This is from a game that was first of all an FPS, so don't spew the "It's not a flight simulator" crap. Nobody I think wants Arma to be a flight simulator, but rather to give flying in the game a bit more feeling, there's no real immersion for flying, just climb to about 1000m and fly in a straight line to wherever you're going. Also, planes bursting into flames because they touched a bush is also extremely annoying. If I get hit critically I should (if I can't eject) be able to attempt a semi-controlled crash landing or at the very least ditch it in the water. Surely Physix can support this?

Well at least BIS tries to improve stuff, If this was EA or Dice we'd be screaming into a void. I remember that the TKOH flight model was supposed to be implemented in Arma 3, but that went with the troubles they got into during Development I think. Don't know how that would have affected Fixed wing though. To be fair I don't think they tested for a situation where someone attempted a backwards landing ;)

I laughed, yeah it feels the flight model hasn't been improved on since arma 2, and as someone who flies a bit for real, Arma 3 flying feels like flying in a vacuum, only gravity acts on you, no air resistance or stabiliser stalls, I bet you could fly that plane sideways, as long as you have enough altitude.

Very, Very nice. Any word on a pilot model with the Air corps Roundel? Also, would a low-vis Tricolour look good I would've thought "teh Rangorz" would've used them in their black role, or even on some of that urban camo. And pretty please can we have an AW139 or something?

So about 3 weeks ago I purchased Arma 3, was very happy as I have followed the series for a long time. I purchased it when it was still in the Beta stage. I went to play it, on one of the rare occurences when I get the chance, and it goes to do the 1.02 Hotfix. Now it tells me of an error, a missing "Executable" i.e the game will not update, so I did what steam said to try and fix it, deleting the .blob file etc etc, But this was by far not the end of my troubles. I sign into my account again, and on going to press the play button, It has been replaced with the "Purchase" button. Now, let me tell you, I can prove and I can assure you that I have legitimately purchased the game, and played it before. I have all the Arma 3 files and even the exe. on my computer's drive. The absurdity of having it say "Purchase" and "Last played - yesterday" Is bewildering. I have submitted a ticket to steam support, no reply after a day, and I have a feeling they will tell me I didn't buy it or whatnot. I know this is not an Arma 3 Problem per se, but does anyone have any suggestions or solutions? It would be very helpful. Thanks

Yeah Directly from steam ---------- Post added at 19:15 ---------- Previous post was at 19:13 ---------- I don't know, I have tried looking for a second duplicate account, but I can't find it. If I asked steam support how many accounts are registered to my IP could they tell me? -

Try searching for "Wasteland", no real objective other than to survive! -
All this said, This IS the Armaverse, and we don't know exactly for sure what state the world is in. Iran may have the money and willpower to invest in computer intergrated warfare and hell, even be successful with it. What really interests me is how will the Iranian units have extra gadgets (to replicate the HUD in the Helmet) and other things that are the benefits of using their equipment, for example the can run further and get less fatigued because they have the AC units? Probably going to far with that one tbh.

I personally, after many years spent fighting assorted groups of enemies such as the Taliban, or the cong, or the Talicong, (My own wit excedes me) am sick of fighting a generic guy with a turban or otherwise. ( No offence BIS!) These new opfor units look just goddamned cool, it most important of all memorable! Once the novelty wears off there WILL always be a mod like ACE etc which will give us the chance to go to a modern day setting! The joys of having an excellent community!

Sikorsky Seaking? I know that they are old but they are a fantastic bit of kit and still used by many Armed forces around the world Could have a few different skins like coast guard, Navy, Jolly Green Giant etc. -
Flying PC-9 to airshow, to have my backseater produce a Platter of Sandwiches made by his wife. Classic!

I once heard that an Army Commanding Officer asked for one of the Alouettes to transport a squad, so he phoned Baldonnel and was passed around the phone lines and Officers (For some reason 10 or so years back the Aer corps hated working with the Army) The CO finally ended up requesting airsupport from a Hanger Mechanic who thought it was a wind up and hung up the phone!
-
Heard another one about the Aircorps and the DF, The DF and the Aer corps were on exercise, and a squad was being moved in one of the AW-139's. The lads from the squad ran up to the chopper and threw their bags and support weapons into the Chopper......... Only to have everything slide out the cargo door on the other side. This ones back from when the Aer corps used the Alouette III's Once again the Aer corps where on exercise with the Army, and a squad was being Disembarked off the Allouette. From what I heard an FN MAG barrel cracked one of the Windows, and the Pilot told the squad to Get the F**k out of my helicopter and Returned to base.

Was talking to a guy from the IDF who was on peacekeeping duties on East Timor- Wherever the Irish Defence Forces go they take a bar with them, and this was the case in East Timor. The lads were having a party on a friday night, and where selling tickets. This Guy and some other fellas where on Sentry duties, when 2 RAF Pumas rolled up outside the camp with 2 fully armed squads of British Soldiers. The Brits jumped out and run up the hill to the Camp. The lads on sentry duty dident know what was happening and promptly swung their Helmets on and readied their weapons. The Brit CO Bolted up to one of the sentries and stood there, and from what my mate told me a 3 minute standoff of silence occured, like something out of a western. Then the English Officer said "I hear your having a party tomorrow night, any chance of some tickets?" To which the Sentry said, " No, well not unless you take us for a spin." The Brit Officer nodded and said " Be up early tomorrow morning" So the next morning the entire Irish detachment in the camp went for a ride in the RAF chopper while the Brits stood guard. Apparently a good nights craic was had at the party.

Yeah, what we don't want is some sort of Cod/Bf3 "Magic" pulling a weapon out of your torso in 0.0000000001 seconds Also I'd like to see the AI using Proper tactics with pistols, so far they just use them when their primary is dry and they then procede to somehow shoot the pistol like it's a machine gun, they don't even move when attacking with pistols, they just stand there and spray bullets at you, CQB or in the open.

I agree with you that the length of time in arma 2 is probably accurate, but I want to have a fluid animation that doesn't impact on me moving about and taking evasive action etc etc. we all make mistakes
-
Forget about melee attacks for a minute, The whole point of a pistol is to have a secondary armament that I can use when my primary armament as failed, (be it Jamming, or I forgot to reload or I have no ammo left) or when My primary Weapon is no longer suitable for the situation that im in, for example an assault rifle may be to cumbersome or large to use when in a confined space. What I want to see in ArmA 3 more than melee attacks is an improved pistol system, that allows me to use my pistol realistically, and to take it out quicker and with more fluid movement, and without me having to stop for what feels like an hour in A2. I don't want to enter a room and find that i have not reloaded or even that i have expended my ammo in the room at hostiles only to pull out my pistol and get shot and killed while performing the animation.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling, looks like a file has been corrupted somewhere. I had a problem like this and that fixed it. Have you installed any addons/mods? -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Irishman replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Should be okay, but in my opinion an i5 or i7 processor would be preferable. ArmA 2 doesn't fully utilise Triple cores or Quad cores, I think
