  1. Congrats on another RPS mention! Maquez: soon after you land lay low and wait for your points to hit 500 or 550 (doesn't take long), press shift+5 and call in a commanche. By the time it gets there you will probably already have points for another. Keep calling them in until you create or capture a base and you can breathe a little easier. Don't save your points, use them when you think you are going to get overwhelmed. If you run into a group of soldiers even if you can take them out they will call for support, which is usually a tank or apc, so get a Comanche over head to take them out as they enter your area. You can hide from all the armor, but it's much easier the first few times to come at them with overwhelming air power at the start, then you can watch how the ai works. Start a mission at night, run up a mountain, then get 4 commanche's to fly in. One of the most beautiful sights in all of gaming.
  2. I like the possibility of a hot LZ, but I think the starting locations need to be tweaked. Sometimes the helicopter starts over land, when in reality I would think they would always try to be over land for the shortest amount of time possible. I also think they would gravitate towards less populated areas. When it drops me in the mountains I almost never have a problem fending off the tanks and apc's looking for me, (if they even find me), however when when I get dropped in a field with no cover, I usually get over run quickly (although it's kinda fun to lol). I'm on the fence about it even being a problem where it lands, as I said it can be fun even if doomed, but occasionally I'm getting dropped on that island in the north, and every now and then stuck in trees. Not a big problem, and I like the variety of starting positions, but I think they need to be tweaked a little. I wouldn't mind less variety of starting positions to start, but better chosen one's, but if it's possible being able to choose would be awesome even if it was a simple compass option like S/W, S, S/E etc., and the helicopter always starts over water towards land on that heading, then lands at the first suitable location. Since you choose the options already in route after it's loaded, I realize that would be a pain, so keeping it out of trees, and off islands works for me. I'm actually ok with being dropped on the island if it had a boat or a strider(striker? whatever they call it, the rebel one is amphibious.) drop.
  3. I wasn't using the new one ill give it a go. Also congrats, your mission got a mention on RPS! http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/07/12/have-an-a-mod-zing-weekend/#more-160222
  4. Starting on 0.96 I started getting lag but it was minor and went away, but 0.97 is unplayable for me. After being dropped off I start to get heavy stuttering which lasts 5 to 10 mins, and then I get minor stuttering for the next 20 or so mins. Usually by that time I've encountered some resistance, so I have to hide because it's impossible to engage when it's lagging. Anyone else getting this? Also would it be possible to stop automatically sending reinforcements? When I delete my team, it sends them, which kinda defeats the purpose. Ideally I would like to be able to form a team, and the leave them at will, so I could choose how big a team I want for each task, or have none at all. If thats not possible, no worries. Given the lack of good sp missions, more options would allow for more replay-ability, because as of now, this mission is really the only sandbox style mission available. Thanks for all the hard work!

    Endless Survival

Gonna check this out tonight sounds fun. I would also check out lost, it was inspired by apocolypse, but you start out alone against a huge army with few supplies. You have to loot to get weapons and ammo and horde it, recruit friendlies by clearing areas etc. It became an option on another mod. Anyways I loved it so im excited to play this! ---------- Post added at 20:05 ---------- Previous post was at 19:59 ---------- Lol! Its been too long lost is an option on apocalypse!

Totally agree. A3 is a huge step up in friendly ai. I like how they logically fill the area, and take cover. The enemy ai is still too deadly with their shooting. I edited enemy precision to balance it. I lowered it to 0.05. They can still one shot you but its rarer, it usually takes them 3 or 4 shots now. They are still plenty accurate, but it seems way more balanced now. There are a cpl threads about it. Vastly improved the fun for me. It could probably go down a little lower, they are still more accurate than most humans online.

Helicopters are working for me now. Awesome mission, different every time. Thanks!

    Awesome, thanks!

    AI Accuracy

I dont know. Its AI accuracy not skill, i was wrong on the earlier post. Ive never messed with the init file. That should work but im not sure if the mission settings override them. It has to be possible though, otherwise i would think mods like ace wouldn't work.

    AI Accuracy

I was reading another thread, and apparently anything over .5% skill means a 1 shot headshot at 100 yds. to actually get it to be somewhat realistic it has to be dialed down to .05% or lower. Even then it's 2 or 3 shots with occasional 1 shots. To actually dial it down that low I think you have to do it in the editor for each unit. So yeah, its off by 99.9% lol.
  12. Try this site http://sandbox.darrenbrant.com/ he has a lot of beginner tutorials that should still be relevant. This site helped me a lot with arma 2.

    AI Accuracy

Can you one shot a person running across a field? Didn't think so. The ai needs tweaking just like it did in arma2. I'm sure ace will be out soon, and mission designers usually find ways to fix it. It will get better.
  14. Any chance of this ever being ported to 3? This and lost were my favorite missions in 2 for sp, so thank you for all your work, excellent missions.

After playing some more I think it might be that the spot where the second heli lands is one of the only suitable spots to land. It seems to detect that it's ok to land on the hill but it cant stick it. To get off what happens now is it will bump and everyone except me can get out, then it bumps 3 more times (always the same three spots) then ejects me and disappears. I'll play with the editor later to see how it handles landing there. It may work if you send the first one in let it clear then land the second, the only problem with that is it will probably land on one of the squad members (arma2 loved to do that), so they would need a move order. I don't remember which mod it was, but in arma2 there was one that let you do combat insertion where it hovered a foot off the ground and it would work perfect for this. It might have been a part of MCC which just came out for 3 but doesn't have that feature yet. Noorin has a 3 mod out, and I believe he wrote the original fastrope script, so hopefully it won't be long, but he might have some advice. Once it's sorted you should tweak it so there is a random chance of it being hot when you land. One of my favorite things about arma is the odd chance of being shot down and dramatically changing the mission. You could also start from a carrier and make it so you can choose loadout via ammobox, and insertion style IE: boat, heli, or scuba. Awesome mission though, now that I've gotten to play it some Im having fun with it, thanks for putting it out. Edit: I also found this http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?150944-Landing-a-transport-support-heli-while-shooting-a Sounds like you may be able to force it to land using an invisible helipad.
