    OPFOR too Futuristic?

Yeah, I think the infantry equipment in the game is a bit too futuristic. It's just 20 years to the future and if you look 20 years to past the infantry equipment and weapons haven't taken any huge leaps. The leap between this day and ArmA 3 seems more than what has happened during last 50 years. I would have liked to see mix of new and old equipment, like special forces using all the new and fancy stuff like the 6.5mm caseless ammo, and new rifles and the airconditioned suits while regular troops still using improved variants of old weapons, uniforms and body armors.

    SDAR damage

It has 2 ammo types, one for underwater and one for surface. Use the normal 5.56 STANAG when you come out of the water.
  3. The helicopter flight model seems too simplified, it's much easier to fly than in ArmA 2. You can perform both backwards and forwards loops just by pressing W or S while flying and backwards loops actually gain altitude, atleast with the Littlebird helo.
  4. High AA settings and ATOC can easilly max out the GPU. Rest of the settings have little impact on GPU utilization.
  5. I had similar experience with my Core i5-2500K@4.3GHz, 8GB RAM and GTX570 rig (ArmA 3 installed on SSD). Poor CPU and GPU utilization combined with poor fps in certain scenarios. For example the infantry and scuba showcases ran very well (low number of AI opponents) but the helicopter showcase was running around 30fps regardless of what graphics settings I used, only view distance seemed to have significant impact on fps in that mission. I played around with the editor for couple a hours and the fps seems to be tied to number of AIs in singleplayer. I put 100+ vs 100+ AI battle in the largest town and as the mission started the fps was around 3 and steadily climbed to 20+ as the AIs killed each other. With 15 vs 15 mission in the largest town the game ran 40-50fps. The performance in multiplayer was worse. 30 vs 30 PVP was practically unplayable and 10 vs 10 PVP in the largest town ran only 30-40 fps. Considering the largest town isn't nowhere as large as the big towns in Takistan and Chernarus and the performance is worse it doesn't seem like the big towns in Altis are going to be playable with current generation of computer hardware. I was expecting ArmA 3 to take full advantage of multicore CPUs so seeing identical CPU utilization behavior as in ArmA 2 is a sad. :(

    Arma 3 first impressions

Pros: Graphics are nice. The gameplay is more responsive. New stance system. New weight based inventory. Weapon accessories. Cons: Not much to test really. Performance is abysmal in more complex missions (the helicopter showcase for example), in the biggest town of the island and in multiplayer missions with more than 10 players. Can't fix the abysmal performance with graphics settings, going from high to low nets only couple a fps, seems like CPU bottleneck (Core i5-2500K@4.3GHz, 8GB RAM, GTX570 (getting GTX680 soon)).

  8. Thanks. :D https://store.bistudio.com/arma3-alpha
  9. No 25€ version listed in the store page?
  10. I wish ArmA III has something like the Cessna 182 from OFP. I loved flying around the islands with the small civilian plane in OFP. It was so relaxing. :o
