Hi Hon0... I have been watching with interest your excellent videos using the Arma2 island etc... i am curious about your flying though.... you seem to have the settings just right in that you can speed up without losing control, slowdown on a dime, no oscillating anywhere, no pendulum swinging... What are your control settings to do this as it looks so real! Currently my settings are on expert with controllers set for zero null zone and full sensitivity.... Whats your secret or am i just a useless pilot! LOL! :D Cheers my friend! Doug

Script needed for passenger pick up
vonduck posted a topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - CUSTOM SCENARIOS
Hi guys, I have decided to take the plunge and make some of my own scenarios... I followed the YouTube tutorial and that worked fine.. however i want to make a mission where i can pick up and drop people off.... what is the needed script command for this and where would i find the list of various scripts? Cheers Doug -
Question for Hon0 re flight settings...
vonduck replied to vonduck's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
Well... i seem to oscillate a fair bit and no matter what i do i cant seem to stop on a dime like your video when following the car.... either up or down! I do use my pedals to counter any torque until flying forward so that's OK but slowing down and controlling height (always seem to gain altitude when coming in to land)when descending is an issue... like you say probably practice is what is needed! I am not a newbie simmer having flown FSX for many years etc. i think i need ot get used to what i should expect form the flight model and keep adjusting my sensitivities and settings eh! -
Question for Hon0 re flight settings...
vonduck replied to vonduck's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
Hi Hon0 thanks for taking the time to reply - appreciated I have tried the settings above and edited the CU3 mod .XML to the factors you have listed there above.... adjusted the curves and dead zones... still cant get it though... nowhere near as good as you! I do have pedals... Saitek combat pedals and work fine... CH FLightstick... Assume you fly on expert mode? I will fiddle with some more settings to see what i am doing wrong... Thanks again matey! Doug -
Thanks all for the input! I'll persevere! Ciao Doug

Hi guys, I now have my Saitek combat pedals and am getting used to flying with them... a real change from the twist grip joystick i can say! I need to ask ... i am flying on expert mode and while i experience yawing to the right due to torque which i counter with the pedals... is it normal to have the chopper BANK to the right all the time? I have calibrated my CH Flight stick and it seems ok... do i need to manually trim this? Thanks guys! Doug

Hi guys, as i am planning to upgrade my system imminently... if i choose the highest resolution in the video settings would this then mean the image would be portrayed on 2 monitors... as in widescreen or is there a special setting for that type of thing?:j: Cheers all! DOug

Thanks guys... Jedra... out of curiosity, why would you trade your 2 x 30" screens for 3 smaller ones instead of just getting another 30" screen? Same effect just bigger? Reason i ask is i was contemplating 3 x 27" with track IR but would seem the peripheral views negate the need for track ir? fboes...sounds good about the HDTV as screen... hmmmm

Thanks for the comprehensive reply... seems i need to be sure of my graphics card capability eh! I'll do some digging.. Many thanks my friend Doug

Advice needed for peripherals -Buttkicker & TIR5
vonduck posted a topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
Hi guys, After trying to use my laptop to fly TOH i have finally succumbed to the need to upgrade to obtain better visuals... so... i thought also to get the entire immersion thing happening... I am thinking of getting TrackIR 5 and Buttkicker 2 to really enjoy the game... after having just been in a Squirrel (at Sea World Australia) i was taken by the vibration and stability of the craft and want to replicate that... Do the forum folks recommend any of those 2 devices? Thanks guys once again Doug -

Thanks Trigen... that's very interesting and given the device is sound driven unless there is a 'constant' somehow it could be quite disconcerting... a lot of dosh to spend on something down these parts so grateful for the input! Doug -

Thanks Komodo... with the buttkicker in FSx, can you feel the rotor slaps etc? Also, do you have to wear headphones when using it? Thanks mate Doug -

Hmmmm... looks interesting ... thanks for the tip! -
I am just curious about all this... the size of maps etc... in real life, just how far on average does a chopper pilot travel? I would assume no too far otherwise an airplane would be used? If relativley short distances then having smaller detailed maps should be no issue? Just a thought :D

Hi guys, In the preview on YouTube it showed a police mission dropping off swat personnel... i cant seem to locate this in the single player missions? ..or am i being blind... which is quite probable!!! :j: Thanks for any help! Doug

Hi guys - new here although not new to flight simming :bounce3: I have been running the game at various resolutions and seem to conclude that the native resolution for my laptop is best (1920x1080) I have a HP dv8 CT1000 - 720QM 1 gig graphics, i7 1.6ghz turbo'd to 2.7ghz, 8 gig ram... In looking at this thread i am wondering if you think i should adjust any of the settings i copied from my .cfg file? Frame rates from fraps show 17-20 in most areas but in one mission when flying low over the trees it was unplayable at 3 fps! See what you think or maybe just get a decent desktop again! language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=48387; Resolution_Bpp=32; Resolution_W=1920; Resolution_H=1080; refresh=60; winX=16; winY=32; winW=800; winH=600; winDefW=800; winDefH=600; Render_W=960; Render_H=540; FSAA=7; postFX=0; GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3; HDRPrecision=8; lastDeviceId=""; localVRAM=1026097152; nonlocalVRAM=1873731584; vsync=0; AToC=7; SWLayersCount=0; PiPEnabled=0; AmbientTraffic=1; Windowed=0; Thanks guys and great game too!
