  1. Okay, so, up to now, I've flown two different career missions where it presents me with a panel where I can select a helicopter for the mission. Well, I should say, that's what it appears to be. For example, in the mission, "The Shakedown", when I choose to play the mission, a panel pops up that shows a list with two helicopters. The top one shows "Light (Tom Larkin)". The second one is "Heavy (Civil)". I'm assuming I can pick between them, but when I select the "Light (Tom Larkin)", the OK button is grayed out and it will not start the mission, and I'm forced to pick the "Heavy (Civil)" helicopter instead. If I click Cancel, I get a message that says, "You can assign the helicopter in the Helicopter menu". Yeah, well, I went to the Helicopter Menu, but the Light helicopter is already assigned to me. (Probably why it said "Light (Tom Larkin)" in the Assign Helicopter panel, huh?) I've looked through the manual, but can't find anything that addresses this topic. Questions about this issue: - Why does the Light helicopter seem to be unusable for this mission even though it is assigned? - If I'm able to select the Light helicopter, how do I do that? - If the Light helicopter is NOT selectable for the mission, then why would it present me a list to choose a helicopter? I mean, if the required helicopter has already been pre-selected for the mission, why make it appear as if I have a choice?? - Is this a bug? (Ooh. What a surprise that would be.) - If the Light helicopter is not intended to be selected for this mission until after I've completed the mission with the Heavy, then again, why go to the trouble of confusing the player by showing the helicopter selection panel AT ALL the first time?? - S -
  2. Double click??? Seriously?? Wow, what IDIOT decided that's how that should work?!? Why would I ever think that simply highlighting the desired setting and then clicking OK wouldn't work? Nothing else in the game settings needs to be double-clicked to get it to work, so why does the difficulty setting require it? OMFG.
  3. Okay, so I started a career in Trainee mode, but I want to be able to practice Free Flight in Expert mode. From the main menu, I go into the game options and then the Difficulty menu and click on Expert, but when I then start the Free Flight, it's set at Trainee again! If I try to set it after I'm already in Free Flight (ESC -> go to game options -> difficulty) and select Expert there, click OK, but when I resume flying, it's STILL on Trainee!!!! WTF?? Is the whole damn game stuck on whatever difficulty setting I choose for the career at the beginning? - S -
  4. Aha... perhaps I should take a moment to read the manual, huh? :p Thanks again!
  5. Ohh, I see. That's interesting because I've flown it probably half a dozen times from the Challenges menu (non career) and it has always picked the Medium chopper. It did pick a different paint scheme each time for it though... hmm. I guess I haven't discovered where to play the Challenges from within the career yet, but I'll look for it tonight. Thanks for the info!! :D - S -
  6. Does anyone know if we can somehow edit the "Challenge" scenarios? I like the "Buyer's Market" challenge, but why why WHY did they assign the Medium helicopter for it??? OMFG! That helicopter SUCKS!!!!! That sort of scenario is obviously best suited for the Light helicopter, so I want to be able to change it. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Bug Reports - Release version

Just like the beta version, the full version crashes to desktop after 10~15 minutes of flying in 32-bit Windows. Fortunately, I also have 64-bit Windows, so I can use this as a workaround, but that does NOT make this an acceptable condition for the release version. Also, I'm unable to change the difficulty level for Free Flight. If I set it in the main menu, OR if I try to set it during Free Flight, it doesn't have any effect and is always on "Trainee".
  8. It'll be "great" when they issue a patch to fix the blatant fucking bugs. Day one of full version release and it's unplayable for more than 10 minutes at a time because a memory leak causes it to crash to desktop every time. You also can't change the difficulty level in Free Flight mode. Take On Disappointment.
  9. Nope, sorry. Those experimental patches didn't resolve the crash-to-desktop issue in 32-bit Windows. I flew around for about 6 minutes, and then it started to stutter as it was trying to load textures, dropping to less than 1 frame per second briefly, then crashed. Bummer. Right now, I'm just going to plan on running the full version in 64-bit when it gets released.
  10. Thanks for the links to the AToC descriptions! I might fly around in the beta a little tonight, so I might tinker with the cfg file and the AToC a bit while I'm at it. Lataz!
  11. Hmm, no I haven't tried that, but today I switched the in-game Video Memory option to "Default" and that seems to have fixed the issue with the low-res textures for now. Still haven't had a CTD in 64-bit yet. What does the AToC=0 trick do? - S -
  12. I went back to the 280.26 driver today in 32-bit Windows, but ToH still crashed after about 10 minutes. So, no change there. On the other hand, I did install ToH on my 64-bit Windows and I was able to fly around for over an hour without any crash issues. The only odd thing was that textures on buildings looked awful until I got right next to them. It's like it wouldn't load the high-res textures, even though I had both the Video Memory and Texture Detail settings on "Very High". I think that's an issue with the 64-bit drivers though, like they're not optimized or something. My video card also runs about 15-18 degrees hotter (under load) in 64-bit Windows with the same driver as the 32-bit Windows. (280.26) But at least I was able to determine that running ToH under 64-bit Windows with 12GB of memory does not crash... for whatever that's worth. I'll see about sending the crash dumps (for the 32-bit side) to Dwarden, as OMAC suggested. Thanks!
  13. Ah yes, my sytem specs... here you go. Intel Core i7 920 nVidia GTX-470 1280MB (driver: beta 285.38) 12 GB DDR3 1600 Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit I know that even though I have 12 GB of memory installed, the 32-bit OS will only use about 3 GB of it. I have 12 GB because I also run a dual boot 64bit Win7 install for other purposes. No, I haven't tried installing ToH on the 64bit side, but I'm starting to think I should just to see what happens. Yes, I'm using beta video drivers, but before I installed that version, I was running the latest WHQL drivers (v280.26) and was having the same issue with those too. Thanks! - S -
  14. Is anyone else having a problem where the ToH Beta crashes to desktop after about 10 or 15 minutes of playing? It's the same almost every time... works fine for about 10 minutes or so, then suddenly the frame rate drops to about 2 or 3 fps for about 15 seconds, then it freezes completly and kicks back to the desktop with the standard "This program has encountered a problem and needs to close" error dialog crap. I've tried different video settings in the game, video card settings in the nVidia panel, re-installing ToH beta, updating the video drivers... nothing has worked and it's been like this since I first installed it. I know it's a beta, but it's hard to playtest something that won't run for more than about 10 minutes at a time! - S -

    Low FPS?

I had the same low FPS issue during the training missions, but I noticed that the regular Free Flight mode does not suffer from this problem and the frame rates are significantly higher in Free Flight. Not sure what it is about the training missions... - S -
