Firstly.. I am very happy with with game and it has come on a long way since the beta. I can see a BIG difference in the quality of the world in terms of graphics and the whole environment is more polished. The flight model (trainee) has changed so much since the beta. I'm not sure if it's better yet. I dont know whether the beta modeled any weather conditions but I'm noticing alot more slippage, buffeting and turbulence. all in all Well done BIS! I do have two little niggles that I want to share. On the whales mission there was quite a bit of flying. Out to site, film 2/3 sets whales and then a 10min flight back to base. Once I landed the icing on the cake would've been to be able to shut down the helicopter and get out before the mission ended. Why did it end so abruptly as soon as I touched down?? On all the missions of this game the player should fly from base and return to base. No finishing early (it is a flight sim after all). Sometimes making it back safely is the most rewarding part of any sim. Why not allow the player to savour the moment. I'm not yet convinced by the asia missions being mixed up with the Seattle ones. It disrupts the whole immersion experience. Maybe this will change later on. (edit) the road textures still look funny, no improvement from the beta.

dont worry about the above. I did a direct download

I may sound like a real noob but I've downloaded the pre install files but when I run the sprocket 2.exe it starts the download over again. Even though I've got the sprocket game files in the same, original folder. I did exit the installer this morning.

I'm copying the game files back to 'my docs' so that the installer realises that I have all the files bar the .exe. Thats the plan anyway

55 mins to go, by my estimation.:bounce3: I'm at work so most will be playing before me.

10:23 for me. It'll be with me by tommorow. That's the important thing:) -
If I were you I would buy this game. If you're gaming tastes lie with titles such as modern warfare and you rarely venture out from this type of game then you may find things a bit challenging. What I mean is that if you demand instant gratification from your games then this title may not be for you. However, as with the nature of all games it is overcoming the challenge that is the enjoyable part. You will get long term enjoyment out of a title like this. Give it a whirl! (no pun intended) PS I love MW as much as the next man. I was using it to illustrate a point.

I have just been flying the cargo mission and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's just fantastic to be hovering like that with a crane not 10m from the aircraft, franticly waiting to get unhooked. I can only imaging the difficulty getting notched up by adding some wind to the equation. One thing I did notice was that in this scenario it was raining. However I didnt notice any weather effects on the windshield, like in the FS series. For me this really adds to the atmosphere of the sim. Are there any plans to introduce weather effects on the windsheild and also will we get to use wipers?

Track IR seems to be working on my v5. I have noticed that the zoom function doesn't work properly. I cant zoom in on the instruments at all.

I have done some real world fixed wing flying but this is my first foray into sim helicopters. Some of the comments on this post are quite technical, but from an average joe's perspective I find the flight model enjoyable and rewarding. I am flying on trainee level with a stick with slider collective control. I also have track IR. I have noticed that the ground effect on landing seems quite severe. It may be just me being a noob but getting the heli on the ground requires a severe drop off in collective. When I do get on the ground I find that even though I have reduced the collective to zero the chopper still rolls over to the right and flips upside down. Perhaps this is a real world occurance requiring me to hold down opposite bank? The flight model is great and I have noticed that it is so much more involving than Arma 2 OA. I can see that alot of people are unhappy with the beta. My opinion is that at the moment it is enjoyable to play and fly,in time it has has the capability to be a great game, which is the whole point. I do doubt however that the game will be entirely stable on release. It does feel unfinished and the timeframe left before release is quite small.

CD key for TOH beta access?
eddix99 replied to Arcto's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - PRE ORDER BETA
I've gone into my account maintenance page on the sprocket games website. I can see the key but when I click the download button (to download the installer) I get this message: Thank you for pre-ordering Take On Helicopters. Your download link will be activated once the pre-load is enabled (you will be notified by Email). Does this mean that the package has not been uploaded yet?
