ArmA 3 Alpha Performance Tweaks and Settings Guide

That is a good find and I will add it to the guide. Yeah fair enough, I have however tried to keep the guide fairly simple and short so it isn't totally overwhelming. I will have another sit down sometime soon and see how to add such information yet keep it simple and short. Yep not all settings will do something for everyone, depends on your PCs build. I am running Windows 7 but some of my mates are running it on Windows 8 so it definitely works Cheers, I will do my best to keep it in good condition. Thank-you for all the replies and feedback I really appreciate it.

  5. Looks good to me, I like what looks like wear/usage around the joints it's like he's actually been using his uniform.

    ArmA 3 & AMD FX

Heya's Seeing as my rig (a C2D Quad) will be invalidated with the launch of ArmA 3 I'm thinking ahead of what to get CPU-wise when the time comes. I think we all know that Ivy-Bridge will be a solid choice but I'll admit to being interested in the potential of AMD's FX range. I realise that at the moment FX does not stack up too well. I'm curious however to hear if with proper drivers and a CPU heavy game like ArmA 3 will FX get more comparable to Intel's offerings? Thanks.

    ArmA 3 & AMD FX

Hmm, that is really bad news about AMD not taking the desktop market seriously anymore, but thanks for your comments on the subject guys especially from those with bulldozers. Much appreciated! I really hope that we can still have a competitive CPU market though, Intel will stick us with higher prices if they get the opportunity...

Improving the Light Engine| What and How

Battlefield 3's light is at times often ridiculous. For example without looking at the sun it blinds you, a normal person can apply various degrees of squinting to overcome that problem. There are also the flashlights that even after the patch blind you completely during the day... that just doesn't happen. In the end a game like BF3 uses exaggerated lighting to make it look more impressive and have items that can blind even when they shouldn't. They do it for the same reason shotguns with buckshot have horrible range and guns like the P90 deal less damage than assault rifles at short ranges, game balance. And that stuff does work for BF3 as it's an Arcade Military Simulator design for fast paced fair fun, not a Military Simulator like ArmA that strives for realism by default.
