Day Z Announced as standalone title.
incontrovertible replied to Placebo's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
>>> DayZ Alpha Performance Tweaks and Settings Guide <<< The first release of a series of threads that will follow DayZ from Alpha to Beta and Release. There is still more for me to fiddle with and make clearer but for now it's ready, expect minor updates in the future. I will update this thread when I update the guide. As always comments are welcomed, thanks for your time. -
Confirmed this worked for me.

Long delay/freeze related to server browser
incontrovertible replied to Trauma.au's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
As I suspected must've been a Telstra issue. I tried my game browser just before and it seems to be working normally again so I daresay we are in the clear. -
Long delay/freeze related to server browser
incontrovertible replied to Trauma.au's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Mate and I have the same issue as well, only started in the past couple of days, the Multiplayer Browser is almost completely unusable as every click takes a very long time to process. Can't Alt-Tab back to desktop as the program is hanging. I noticed you are in Australia, same here, both my mate and I are on Telstra so we are suspecting it has something to do with it. It seems to have something to do with our internet and the browser. PS. what is this vars fix thing? -

Agreed, except for changing your resolution I wouldn't ever recommend that because it makes things too blurry and hard to see. I will be doing some view distance benchmarks soon as well. Yes should be fine. -

Thanks for the ProTip, as a 64-bit user I didn't think of that. :) Thanks for catching that! :) PhysX changed to a recommendation. -

Thanks for the feedback. If the -high doesn't work then ProcessLasso is definitely the easiest way to ensure A3 will run on High Priority, which will hopefully make the game smoother while playing. Setting the maxmem value higher doesn't hurt in any way, but I have changed it to 2047 (would appreciate a concrete answer on this). Updating the PhysX driver also doesn't hurt, I could be wrong but a few months back I did a before/after test and got slightly better result, could've been an anomaly though. Again thanks for the feedback. :) -

slight update to the PhysX driver link and to the Startup Parameters. I will be doing a new round of benchmarking when the next patch (0.76) is out. -
Large FPS drop when looking at foliage through scope.

Yo, try turning AA down to x2 if it is at x4+ and also turning AToC to trees only or off. -

are you guys with the 30fps vsync lock using nvidia cards per chance? -
ArmA updated to 0.56 and -server does not allow clients to join.
incontrovertible replied to mrnemesis's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
this is the screen I get stuck on when trying to join a 0.56 server with 0.56. Just after clicking to join, just before the lobby; no error messages. -
Will 64 bit run better than 32 bit?
incontrovertible replied to knightswatch's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
the main difference between is that 64bit can address more RAM per application. However an application also has to be 64bit to take advantage of that, ArmA 3 can only address up to 4GB RAM on 64bit and 3.5GB RAM on 32bit. Soooo there will be a performance increase but I wouldn't imagine it would be much. -

New AMD 13.4 and 13.5 (beta) drivers.
incontrovertible replied to imrevned's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I installed the 13.4 drivers and noticed improvements so I then tried the 13.5 drivers but it isn't reflecting the update in catalyst control center. -

I've updated the guide with new general system optimizations and revised basic settings. -
ArmA is the most heavily modded shooter around, even in Alpha there is more content than the entire Battlefield series ever had.

correction, -cpuCount=6 -exThreads=7, the exThreads represent a decimal value of a binary setting used to offload various file operation processes from the main arma thread to separate threads on different cores. We will test this on intel/amd quad/dual cores and get back to you on what we find in the guide. -

incontrovertible replied to incontrovertible's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
yep that would be the correct setting, the wiki doesn't say so but yes with hyperthreading exThreads is your (physical cores x 2) - 1. So for instance 6-cores no hyperthreading is just -cpuCount=6 -

Interesting results! However when I tried it on my i7 3770k I got no real difference in performance =[ Also I've updated the guide with benchmarks for each setting (cept PiP) so ya's can see where the performance drains are coming from.
