  1. Bought and paid for! Really looking forward to getting some play time in, even if it's only a limited beta!
  2. Well that's really the question, isn't it? It's also something not touched upon in the poll. Just how long of a delay/wait would there be for multiplayer? If implementing a 1v1 multiplayer mode meant only a few weeks of delay, i'd be willing to do that. On the other hand, would those who voted for delay be willing to accept a multiplayer patch coming out a few weeks after release? On the extreme opposite, would you be willing to live with, say, a six month delay? I wouldn't. I'd rather they get the singleplayer out first. I really want to play it! We just don't have enough (any, really) information about their development process or the programming to understand just how long it would take to implement mulitplayer.
  3. Skyrim, Obivion, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 1, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, Dead Space, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Portal, X-Universe games... That's what I can name so far. I'm sure there are plenty of others. But considering most of those are pretty high up there on the list of popular games... Also, multiplayer is not the be all and end all. There are certainly games out there which do multiplayer bad, and this can often affect the quality of the singleplayer too. The Carrier Command concept is a singleplayer concept first, multiplayer concept second. Hence i'd rather they get it out as a great singleplayer game, then do their best to implement a multiplayer part to it. Will this work? Who knows. But as long as there's a solid singleplayer component to the game, it can still be a great game. Additionally, as the Elder Scrolls games have shown us, a singleplayer game with a strong modding community can really shine. It's unsure if we'll be able to get that kind of community for CC:GM, but we do know there will be some modding, which is more than some of the other listed games have.
  4. I agree Multiplayer will be awesome for this game, but as they're obviously focusing on the singleplayer aspect right now, i'd rather them get that done and out so I can play as soon as possible. I'm content to wait for them to come out with multiplayer later. It's better than having them delay the game, because i'm really looking forward to it! As for the lack of community/hype, it IS awfully quiet around here. But many of gamers today come from a period after the original Carrier Command. I was really young when I first played it and I barely remember doing so. So I imagine most don't know what Carrier Command is. And i've seen very little in advertisement off site. I'm hoping that things might pick up as release gets closer, or right after with all the glowing reviews the game will get!
  5. Agree with above, down with Facebook! Still: 'Alright Joe... Don't... Make... A... Move... The flowers have us surrounded.'

    Walking around questions

How it could work: Specialised Walrus equipment, designating the Walrus as a personnel carrier. Players can then spawn as infantry from these vehicles, which would likely not go into combat and instead be kept behind the lines. This also makes them a high priority target for the enemy, as taking them out removes the ability to spawn on the island. Instead you'd have to wait for another WPC (Walrus Personnel Carrier!) to launch from the carrier. How it will probably work: I wouldn't be surprised if we never see infantry in anything but the campaign missions. If we do, it probably wont be for quite a while. Additional: Manta transport. Can transport a small squad of infantry around but doesn't act as a spawn location. Good for those hot drops behind enemy lines (or evacs).

    I'm concerned

I tend to agree that the islands will end up as being pre-made, and that the island's purpose may end up random. But you have to consider there are other aspects that can help improve replayability. For one thing, i'd be surprised if there wasn't a way to make the starting position of the carrier in the skirmish game be random (obviously in the water though!). Let's also not forget that the game will be moddable. We're not yet sure to what extent, but it may even go as far as allowing modders to create new world maps for people to play on. Though to be honest, I doubt this'll happen any time soon. Still, the mods people come up with will help keep the game interesting.

    Walking around questions

Considering how fast i've seen the carrier moving in the gameplay demo videos, I don't think it'd take a long time to move from one island to the next. You can probably occupy your time there by planning out your strategy for the next island/ordering more parts/admiring your carrier's awesome looks as it glides across the water/practice flying around in the mantas while keeping up with your carrier. And to be honest, simply walking around the inside of your carrier is going to get boring quick if there's nothing to do. While it might be an interesting minor feature that could be cool waaay in the future, it's certainly not something i'd consider important to implement.

    Manta information

I can see this feature being very awesome. Though I imagine the Mantas will be relatively unarmed while using the carrying harness, so you'll have to be careful. A valid tactic could be having two mantas use the harness, making two trips to carry all four Walruses while the other two cover them.
  10. I don't think you should restrict the players to a Mantas or Walrus as an actual game feature. If we were to limit the amount of players in a game to five (for each team), then that means we've got a commander (perhaps selected by your method, or selected in the lobby by team vote) and four players. Then those four other players could alternate between the eight units at their own choice, depending on what they want to play or which unit is more useful at the time. There are times where having four players all in one unit type could be useful, or split them up so there's two in each. And if the team wants to nominate a Walrus/Manta commander, then they can do so, but there doesn't need to be any actual gameplay mechanic lableing them as such.
