  1. I'm more looking forward to Red Orchestra 2 than this. It's gonna be filled with kiddies, just like COD too.

Just get 3 other friends and play. I ran into a lot of people on BC2 who only cared about their KDR and not about W/L R. If you get a ground of 3 others and use teamwork, as long as the other team isn't working together you 4 will change the tide of the battle. I set up a team with 3 others on the alpha and we average 5 wins to 1 loss now.

  2. Welcome to the dark side, I mean, BIS forums.

You can start studying at ADFA at 17, not sure about age requirements re: direct entry as into RMC, but you will be at RMC for a minimum of 18 months in each case (the only difference is that post-ADFA, you will have a degree to boot, and the authority to call all direct entry people bakers).

Each route you go down does not throw you into the officer role straight away; you and your classmates need to learn how to function as riflemen first of all. You will not be leading actual troops for a good stretch of time during your training period - you will be leading your classmates.

Obviously you only get your command after leaving RMC and returning to the ARA.

GSOs feel free to help an SSO out here.

    Innomadic - RAAF, lol. :D

With a lot of our officers they go to college for 4 years, meanwhile they go though an officer program, then, following graduation the become a second lieutenant and lead a platoon they are usually 22 or 23 years old. When I was 22 I had a combat deployment under my belt and 4 years actual experience. I can only assume an aussie will become an officer even younger than that, and no matter what an LT under 25 scares the shit out of me.

  3. I am thinking about joining the Australian Army as an Infantry Officer, i'm 15 atm so I have to wait 2 years though

You can join the Australian army at 17 as an officer? I feel like I need to call bullshit on that one. That would be insane if they allowed a 17 year old kid to lead people.

If I could do it again I would probably have gone the route of ranger (which I still can if I want to try for it) or gone navy and went SWCC, I don't think I could have passed the training back when I first joined but I'm very confident I could now.

  4. True story no BS.

A friend of mine who just graduated college decided he wanted to join the army, so I tagged along when he went to see a recruiter. My buddy wanted to go in for something involving computers, but the recruiter said all the slots have been filled, but if he wants he can go infantry and get a slot next year for the MOS he wants, first big LOL.

Anyway we continue talking like we actually believe the bs he is throwing at us. My buddy then said "I would go infantry, but I'm not into the whole going to war thing" recruiter, well you don't have to go, you can just choose not to go" Second and even bigger LOL, granted I have held all my laughter in.

Finally, my buddy says he wants to think about it (aka ask me how much was bullshit) so right as we are about to leave something beautiful happens, he says to me "you look like a good fit for the military, if you sign you can get a 50,000 signing bonus for infantry" (Its total BS, I joined the army when they were taking ANYONE any got 20,000, no way in hell they are giving 50). Anyway I get all excited and say yes, we are going over a yes and no sheet when he sees " Have you ever server in the military?" and its marked yes with writing underneath "hey, I did 2 tours, been in 5 years, wait till the IG hears about this one".

Anyway Just sent in a letter to the IG with what happened and that if serious action inst taken my buddy will be notifying the media.

Before you ask yes I am angry at recruiters. Moral of the story, don't have a fuckin army values poster on your wall and then shit on the values.
