  1. I'd like to see the Mission editor be made into a 3D environment where we can 'fly through' the map. This way we can place units where ever we want. For example I have been trying to place a sentry on the 'catwalk' of a control tower at an airfield but the bot just gets trapped inside the building even when the 'house position' is highlighted for the correct area. I feel having this would eliminate any problems.

Additionally, we need a load out selector that has ALL weaponry available in it. It needs to be in the same style as the 'gear' menu. This way the coding that needs to be done is with scripting waypoints or triggers. The controls in the editor also feel kind of clunky. It would be nice to customize your character as well from the boots to the helmet. Anything else like additional gear or weapons can be made by us the community.

    :)

  2. It's more for what I do most which is Photoshop, Illustrator and Max. You wouldn't believe what Illustrator will do to a processor when you ask to. Not mention my RAM. I have 8GB DDR3 1066MHz now and man those programs sure can bring my system down.

    Current specs:

    AMD Phenom II X910 2.8GHz

    Crucial Technologies DDR3 1066Mhz

    ATi/AMD HD4890 1GB GDDR5

    Antec 650w PSU

    Segate 1TB HDD

So, as you can see not great however I can play A2:OA on Very High 1920 x 1080 and 3D 1920 x 1080. I just can't have HDR on or Post Process Effects.

Basically I want a Graphics Workstation with the ability to game. And I can't use an ATi Fire GL or PNY Quadro to game with.

Took some advice and this is another build I came up with:

SAMSUNG DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223L LightScribe

NZXT Phantom PHAN-001BK Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

    ASUS ARES/2DIS/4GD5 Radeon HD 5870 X2 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with ...

COUGAR CMX 1000 COUGAR-1000CMX 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC ...

    Patriot Viper II Sector 7 Edition 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PV7312G1600ELK

ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

    Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor BX80601950

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM

    $2387.60 USD

I’ll be using my HDD from this computer until I can get the SSD’s I want.

  3. )rStrangelove;1825189']Nice rig' date=' spektre. If you play ArmA2 with a 20GB ramdisk i guess you can forget everything related to 'lag'. :D

I'm not a big crysis fan so forgive me if i say that you'll probably get bored after playing through it. After that ppl always come back to ArmA :)[/quote']

Yeah it will be as long as 'the wife' lets me get it. I built a cheaper rig on Tiger Direct and I even had the six core i7 980 extreme on it but the board I picked only supported 12GB of RAM just under $2600 USD.

There another config I have now with 3 GTX 470's the i7 980x and 24GB of RAM. I just had to get rid of the SSD and the Bluray ROM-RW and the RAM was demoted to 1333MHz which I am sure I can clock out to 1600MHz or higher.....I hope. Just under $3,300 USD.

  4. Finished!

    Score...............3400

    Duration...........29m

All targets destroyed except for Gas Station =o(. I found out you can take out the watch tower guard over at that far wall near the village. You can also shoot out lights in certain areas to aid in your infiltration.

  5. So I guess you need to be really damn good to even make it to commissioned officer ?

    :232:

In the US Armed Forces all you need is a college degree* or have graduated from Annapolis US Naval Academy for Naval Commissioned Officer* or Marine Officers and WestPoint for US Air Force and Army Officers.

    * There is another avenue you can go. Get a degree and apply for OCS: Officer Candidate School. It is 13 weeks of intense military training led by US Marine Drill Sergeants.

Keep in mind this is the Navy and Marine side. I cannot speak for the USA or USAF.

Then you either become a pilot (2 1/2 years training) or a SWO: Surface Warfare Officer. Meaning you spend your entire career aboard ships. The Marines do not attend SWO training. Specialized officers are known as Staff Corps Officers**. They are Chaplains, Lawyers, Dentists and Doctors. And they are normally auto-promoted to the grade of 0-3 'Lieutenant', so I've heard.

Prior enlisted men/women like me would have to attend OCS and we have to go through several interviews with commissioned officers and write several letters of interest and all that stuff I talked about in my first post comes into play as well. There is a selection board that convenes every 365 days. Selection takes 6 months.

**Difference between a Staff Corps Officer and a regular Officer (Line Officer): SCO's cannot under any circumstances take command or given command authority when a Commissioned Naval Officer is present regardless or rank. Now keep in mind they can certainly order lower ranking officers and they are most certainly given respect. They are commissioned however their Oath of Office is different.

So, if there was a Captain (0-6) and an Ensign (0-1 pee on) the Ensign would be in command. SCO's go as high as 0-6 while NO's ('Line Officers') go up 0-11.

0-11 is only given to one man or woman at any one time. 0-11's are known as Chief of Naval Operations (US Navy only) and are part of the Joint Chiefs of Staff whom advises the President militarily.

    :yay:

  6. Oh yeah I'm stealthy no doubt. I never get seen in this mission ever. It just........

I tried to take out a guard but as soon as I do the alarm sounds and the flares go up. No doubt it's a game trigger for sure. Even though it's been rough, it's my favourite mission! I think I crawled around 6ft at a time for 45 minutes. Then I look up and the watch is standing right on top of me, LOL. He wont leave either. Thanks man I will try that for sure.

    :yay:

  7. Hey man that is waaaay better! Thank you so much! I need to get back into coding again. It's been 4 years since I even spoke the language. LOL, the last thing I touched was VB.Net 2005, LOL.

I wish I can encompass that all into a function. You know like DIM it with a really simple name like 'LO1' (Load Out 1). That way all you type are three characters.

  8. Well i think the problem is that You "Script" is not really a Script as we think of it here in the ARMA Communitie. And its not a CPP, SQF or a SQS.

(I Belive this kinda stuff should go in the mission editing section, as its not a Addon but a little bit for the Mission Editor)

What Pufu said was true, He wasn't calling you or anyone a Idiot, but pointing out that you have still a while to go before you find the 'Holy Grail'.

Thank you Jake your response actually helped me out. I will post in that section. I just saw when I searched around people were calling anything that had some sort of code in it, script.

    :)

  9. Look, what you said was a 'smart ass' passive agressive remark. You were basically calling me an idiot.

So, of course I would be like 'WTF?' like anyone else would. Maybe I was just trying to help other ArmA noobs like me get the ball rolling.

Don't forget people in here are from all over and what might not be offensive to you may well be to someone else.

Hey Admins or Mod's can you move this thread or delete it and tell me where exactly I would post something like this?

    Thanks,

    =o)

  10. LOL

I figured it out. I kinda took the long way home on this one. Here's what I got below (works perfectly):

    removeallweapons this; this addweapon "MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addweapon "M9SD"; this addmagazine "15rnd_9x19_M9SD"; this addmagazine "15rnd_9x19_M9SD"; this addmagazine "15rnd_9x19_M9SD"; this addweapon "M136"; this addmagazine "M136"; this addmagazine "M136"; this addweapon "NVgoggles"; this addweapon "ItemGPS"; this addweapon "ItemRadio"; this addweapon "ItemWatch"; this addweapon "itemMap"; this addweapon "Binocular";

*You can use any character you wish ;o). Just hightlight the green text and Ctrl>C then Ctrl>V into the editor.

    :yay:

  11. Yeah I saw there was an ammo crate. I just need to go back and fourth until I plant charges by all the tanks. My main problem is the service station. It seems no mateer how slow or quite I am, the alarm triggers. And if I take out anyone the alarm triggers. The gas station was pretty easy to plant.

  12. Enjoy my friends

    removeallweapons this; this addweapon "MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30rnd_9x19_MP5SD"; this addweapon "M9SD"; this addmagazine "15rnd_9x19_M9SD"; this addmagazine "15rnd_9x19_M9SD"; this addmagazine "15rnd_9x19_M9SD"; this addweapon "M136"; this addmagazine "M136"; this addmagazine "M136"; this addweapon "NVgoggles"; this addweapon "ItemGPS"; this addweapon "ItemRadio"; this addweapon "ItemWatch"; this addweapon "itemMap"; this addweapon "Binocular";

*You can use any character you wish ;o). Just hightlight the green text and Ctrl>C then Ctrl>V into the editor.

    :yay:

  13. Yes I have searched....

I am using the 'Pilot' model. I have changed the weapon to the MP5SD6 successfully. I have added ammunition successfully however -

    My script:

    removeallweapons this; this addweapon "MP5SD"; this addmagazine "30Rnd_9x19_MP5SD";

How do I add more than one magazine? I have tried addding a '5' in front of the class name for the magazine sparated by a comma. And even after the class name. I have also tried making more than one sting of the same class name example:

    "30Rnd_9x19_MP5SD,30Rnd_9x19_MP5SD, 30Rnd_9x19_MP5SD";

    Thanks,

    SPEKTRE

  14. You need a tube of chapstick a jar of vaseline and no gag reflex.

On the serious side of things......

I spent over 15 years in the most powerful Navy in all the world, the United States Navy. In our branch we had to maintain physical fittness, basic training requirements, job knowledge requirements and personal appearance. Our personal off duty behavoir affected us as well such as: Law enforcement disclipinary action, indebtiness (financial activities) volunteering and education. That all gets compiled up into an Eval Score on a scale of 1.0 - 5.0.

Your Eval is only 1/2 the battle as you have to pass a Navy Wide Exam with 200 questions that takes 3 hours to complete. Then you go through a selection process that takes 90 days. Beleive it or not physical fitness is the one thing that will bite you in the ass. Especially if you are a US Marine or Army Soldier.

Then they release the quotas to be filled. Then one week later the Commanding Officer is notified with an unofficial list of selctees. You can pass the exam and still not make rank due to your eval score and quota minum score required. To make E-6 (Petty Officer First Class) took me personally 5 tries. And you have to wait 6 months inbetween each test. The kicker is after you make E-5 you have to wait 3 years before you can even think about being an E-6, now think about that!

Another week goes by and then the Official 'In Stone' List hits the 'Navy Times' and the Commanding Officer's desk and then filters down.

Then some hapless sole is given good news and then he is the happiest man/wpman on earth.

  15. I take out the Colonel and then the enemies spot me start firing at me. I expected that.

What I did not expect is for there bullets to go all the way through a 10 foot rock I was hiding behind.

That is not possible, it just can't be. I took 2 shots , target was 617m away. I DOPE'd my scope to 600m.

There is just no way to escape.

Oh and the other bug is that #2 ingnores the hold fire command!!!!!!
