1. Hi there I don't post or visit the forum often so excuse me if this question has been asked more than a dozen times. I have seen one or two other threads about this but nothing came out of them. Currently body armor and helmets don't really work realistically they are more for aesthetics than anything else imo, I don't believe that it is impossible or really that hard to make body armor work the way it should. I am a 3D artist myself and from my knowledge hit boxes are what determines where damage takes place. And I'm not sure if hitboxes are the same as collision boxes. But if they are they can be made more detailed as to include the helmet and vest and exclude every other part. so whenever the vest or helmet is hit the player or AI takes no damage. It can be done as it's already in VBS2. I also saw in the confirmed features thread that body armor and helmet protection were confirmed. If they have already been included in the game how come it doesn't work like VBS2 or maybe it hasn't been included just yet? There are people who say that body armor only works for shrapnel or pistol rounds and the same for helmets. But then what explains the soldier's video? And various other soldiers' stories about being hit in the head or chest and taking no damage maybe a bruise or more and that's it. Nothing lethal but in ArmA 3 so far. take 1 shot to the chest you're bleeding maybe not dead but the 2nd shot will kill you. head one shot and you're dead probably true for rifle rounds but pistols or SMG's? VBS2 Body Armour - Soldier body armour stops sniper round - PASGT & MICH helmet tests - Reference from the confirmed features thread - "Objects like tactical vests will have weight and different carrying capacities as well as different protection values. Headgear will offer different levels of projectile protection."
2. I find the AAF's large pixel/digital pattern to be pretty intriguing and it seems to work the best out of all 3 factions on Stratis (greener areas only) I was wondering though is this a fictional pattern invented by BIS or is it an actual pattern in use today, whether it is fictional or not does the pattern have a name? http://www.arma3.com/images/post_images/arma3_e32013_screenshot_06.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img4/1193/y34t.jpg Cheers.
3. Sweet! Loving it, I reckon the flight model is a little too sensitive at the moment. I can do barrel rolls no problem which I don't believe is possible without crashing irl.

Top quality mate! You've really set your boundaries high which is a great thing. I am loving them to bits!

Italian Localization

There will probably be Italian localization like there was in Armed Assault and ArmA 2. On a personal note I am half Italian and sad that so many of my fellow countrymen shun English when it's a language that will benefit them all... If they knew how to speak it properly. Welcome to the community

Attaching explosives to a vehicle

There's something just hilarious about that lol (in a good way) Keep it up man. I've always wanted to attach explosives to vehicles especially in MP. I did it back in ArmA 1 the mod was able to work in vanilla MP servers. I attached a satchel to a T72 waiting for an unsuspecting enemy player to jump in. Which one did and as soon as he started the engine touch off* He got pretty pissed after that. So I'm looking forward to doing this all again in ArmA 3 :D

AAF Desert

They are Awesome they really should of been in the game by default.
10. I thought the AAF would need a arid/desert variant of their uniform and gear since Stratis has a lot of sand on it. Their woodland digital pattern works well on stratis despite that. But in order to be considered a professional and up to date army they should have one pattern for each environment depending on where they are deployed. These current screenshots are only painted over as a proof of concept using the same method as mentioned above. My next challenge is to apply the arid/desert pattern texture sheets to new units via config. [/img]

AAF Faction Desert Camouflage Pattern

Considering you guys like the green. I'll probably go ahead and do that. There is also someone else who has already made the desert variant. So the green would differ from his which is a good thing.

AAF Faction Desert Camouflage Pattern

Like this? It looks good but it's not that different from the arid variant. I did try changing the dark tan to green as well but it made it look exactly like the original woodland variant.

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

I'm looking for the texture sheets of the AAF uniform in characters_f.Pbo but I'm only seeing BLUFOR, OPFOR, and Civilian no Independent. Must be in Blufor somewhere. Hopefully I will find them and retexture them to the desert variant shown above and get them ingame. PS: Found them in characters_f_beta I have begun texturing the uniforms and gear.

Here's another desert variant of the AAF camouflage. http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll156/Dagon14/AAFDesert3_zps1ebc8ee0.png (2055 kB) [/img] http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll156/Dagon14/AAFDesert4_zps310f3081.png (1571 kB) [/img]

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

Is anyone planning on making a desert variant of the AAF uniform? I went ahead and painted/recoloured a desert variant of the pattern on a screenshot to see what it would look like. I have done retextures for ArmA 2 but I haven't dived into ArmA 3 modding just yet I'm waiting for the full release before I do anything. I wanted to ask here since if someone else has plans to do it I'll let them have a go. AAF Faction Camouflage Pattern

Thanks for the link RH. @supercereal4 That is US4CES I think or another variant made by the same company called ADS I believe looks awesome though. I'm confident that the AAF camouflage is loosely based on a digital camo style with multicam colours like RH mentioned. But the pattern itself is fictional. I painted Desert and Urban variant of the AAF Pattern, But these are not retextures the image is just painted over in Photoshop to see if it looks good. I think it does. I may go ahead and paint the texture sheets and see what it looks like ingame. I like the sand/desert color the most. [/img]

Serious injuries (graphic) - gore/violence

I don't feel like getting into a deep chat here. But I will respond to your last part. No not the black holes we see on the walls and vehicles. but an actual bloody bullet hole texture like we currently have but rather than a static wound texture all over the legs, torso, arms etc for a lack of a better word it should rather be dynamic - http://acidfaq.com/random/Games/Day%20of%20Defeat%20Source/dod_palermo0001.png That is day of defeat source an old game. But the only one I can think of that had bullet holes where the rounds actually hit the body. That is what I mean't. A similar feature can and should of already been included back in ArmA 1. But I guess the devs like the way it has been since OFP. Personally I don't I'd rather like to see where each person has been hit exactly. It's minor but it is a nice touch. have a good day.

Serious injuries (graphic) - gore/violence

This post is off topic but I refuse to admit my post was ironic, I stated that the ArmA series has been using the same blood texture technology since OFP why has it not been updated? Now on me knowing absolutely nothing about game development here is a little bit of what I have done ( I am not boasting this is just proof ) These are all mine. I have modded ArmA 2 and worked on various other games I know what I am talking about when it comes to game development. What does it take to make dynamic bullet hole textures which they have already done so for the ground, walls and vehicles why not troops? I've actually thought of modding it in myself. But why do we have to rely on mods for something so mild yet not even hard to implement in the vanilla game by the Devs themselves. http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll156/Dagon14/MP41_5_zpsff0c6d3c.png http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll156/Dagon14/arma2oa2013-01-0823-07-58-81_zps2ec99505.png http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll156/Dagon14/arma2oa2013-01-0800-27-29-58_zps362a2858.png http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll156/Dagon14/arma2oa2013-01-0723-58-32-56_zps6c51d28b.png http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll156/Dagon14/arma2oa2013-01-0618-08-16-29_zps48bd5e28.png Those russian troops are not my models. I only retextured them for an ArmA 2 tournament. Need I show you more? I am also not posting to start a flame war, Just my statement I am literally sick from the few threads I have read and/or posted on only to see people b*tching about eachother's ideas. I do not remember the community being like this back in the OFP days but I may be wrong.

Arma 3-TOH similarities

That is all right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I guess it is Beta but I highly doubt the full release will be that much improved. Altis may be great though. But on topic. We were told TOH features would be included but they aren't which is sad. ArmA 3 doesn't feel like an entirely new generation game to me that's just my opinion.

Arma 3-TOH similarities

I agree. I would not of purchased the game had I known that fast roping and all the other features that were promised are not implemented and never will be in the final release. I do not want those features to be paid DLC... I bought the game for what was promised by BIS. ArmA 3 is no different to ArmA 2 other than a few new features. This could of been an expansion to ArmA 2 not a new game. harsh words but it is the truth.

Body armour & helmet protection feature

1, As the previous comments have said Dragonskin is a farce. 2, if rounds penetrate body armour like a knife through butter trust me soldiers wouldn't be wearing it. 3, Yes we just saw body armor take a round in the video I showed you. 4, Your opinion is that Kevlar barely works. Well that is your opinion but not the opinion of the majority here. 5, mentioning the 1990's body armour was no way near advanced as it is today. Body armor is not completely bullet proof but it DOES stop bullets including FMJ rounds.

Serious injuries (graphic) - gore/violence

Can you explain chivalry medieval warfare which is a multiplayer game that has amputated body parts then. Please people if you know nothing about game development then refrain from commenting. If you step on an IED your legs are GONE same with any other HE round. We are not made of metal we are meatbags and easily torn apart. Ask any veteran of combat. They have seen their comrades being blown apart by mortar rounds and what not. Gore is part of war that is what makes it so brutal. Why make a wargame only to sugar coat it? I don't mind if dismemberment will never be included in any future ArmA game. But what I really can't stand is the fact that the game is still using standard blood textures. If I fire one round into someone's chest only to see 3 bullet holes in him that really ruins the immersion. Insurgency (a Source Engine game) has proper bullet holes so where your round hits is where the hole will be is what ArmA needs. Please don't give me the bullshit that ArmA can't handle it. It is a texture that's it with a little bit of coding. It is pure laziness from the Development team.

Body armour & helmet protection feature

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it wouldn't be impossible or rather "too hard" But I still stand that body armor can stop rounds from a distance. whether they are FMJ or not. Since rounds do slow down. And no I am not a developer if I was I wouldn't be asking this question. I also never mentioned point blank range. I mentioned direct hits (not side shots etc)
25. First thing? I'd love to start in an aircraft and HALO down onto Stratis only to engage hostile forces in the area of operation, Keen to see the ragdoll I'm so happy it's finally reached the Armed Assault series. There's so much to look forward to!
