  1. I don't know what rock you have been living under, but at least on the Triple A front there is a large selection of games that are multi-threaded.

    JSRS: DragonFyre -- WIP Thread

As has been pointed out already by somebody else, the first instances of JSRS for A3 were not. It might seem DragonFyre might be.

    JSRS: DragonFyre -- WIP Thread

    Is it multiplayer compatible?
  4. Can anyone explain me whenever I use Six Updater to update ACE, it will totally freeze my computer and have to resort to hitting the restart button.

The machines can read your mind!

Yes, lets ban technology and embrace religion so no one can harm us. :icon_rolleyes:
  6. The bold part was the main reason, I think. Although that brings up a question: Why not leave the topic unlocked, delete the post that bumped the thread and let legitimate questions to be asked?
  7. If that is the case, why are the same dev's telling the other story? They only wanted to lock that thread and said they themselves will not post.
  8. Is it a conspiracy theory when even the US government is speaking the same thing?
  9. Well, fine, W/E, its your forum after all, but I fail to see a point locking a thread due to mentioning PR somewhere inside the topic.
  10. Well, for an example, this one: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=124616 As soon as the word PR got spoken, came the lock. That thread was made with a purpose of trying to explain it was not them who hacked someones server. Yes, word PR got mentioned, only because the OP's staff got jumped on PR server admins.
  11. But talking about server adminning, stopping hacks, running mods, etc. is not the same with or without using PR on your server? Please, this is incorrect fact. I can post the mission if I want, its the matter of using it. But this is not my point.
  12. Why close/disallow all discussions/other related stuff about PR? Just because UK_Force told that they wouldn't not post anymore on these forums doesn't mean others should be punished about it. Maybe I want to post a mission for PR? Or have a my PR clan info posted here? Or gather some players to play it?
  13. DAP, what you are trying to achive is pointless. Its their mods, its their rules. Just leave it there and go somewhere else. In the end, everyone is happy.
  14. @DAP, if you are so concerned about everything that is happening in here (not strictly speaking about PR, the community in general), why don't you post a few links or something so we can see what kind of content you have made? At this stage, you are just pure trolling, posting stuff that does not make sense, having limited knowledge about things and not backing up with proper facts. So my only request is: If you dislike/hate something, then leave it at that and ignore it for your rest of life. Its that simple. Its for your own good health and money and time. @Everyone else: Is it that so bad that when a 1 guy or a team comes out with innovative ideas and decides to use restrictive EULA (it could be anyone, not only PR)? The way I see it, is that every day a mission or a addon gets released with the tear apart motto in mind for them. There is what, like at least 1000 mods and missions to choose from to play at the moment? So what if someone does somethink different? It does not give you the right to start bashing it to hell.
  15. http://www.allmystery.de/i/tQIppOr_NOT-SURE-IF-TROLL-OR-JUST-VERY-STUPID.jpg Well, thank god for international laws. Also, international courts. So, you think that PR does not allow you use Arma Editor? Wrong. According to UK_Force and EULA, you are allowed to use Editor. What is not allowed is for servers to use missions that haven't given a green light by the PR devs.
  16. *puts his novice lawyer suit on* (TL DR version at the bottom) Alright, its seems that everyone is thinking here that whatever is written in EULA can't be backed up by legal actions. Well, I am sorry to say this but heres a news flash for you: Yes they can! I might not know much about US laws, but in most EU countries, EULA or even a TOS acts as the lowest point of a law tree so to speak. Like I said in the PR topic, most laws are categorized in a tree like fashion. The top one being the Constitution. No matter what, Constitution must be followed, including making new laws or changing old ones. Only way to make a new entry in the Constitution, modify it or delete an entry is to have a country wide public vote called referendum. Anyway, thats not the point I am trying to make. The point I am trying to make is that EULA, TOS or any license agreement that comes with a software product (either retail or from digital distribution) is at the lowest point in the law tree. Just like school rules are, where they have written rules what a student can and can't do. So whatever is written in any EULA of software (including the PR EULA), you have to follow it, no matter of what. Yes, software authors are allowed to write anything they wish in a EULA. Well, not everything of course (they have to follow the higher tier laws in the law tree), but if that means when you install the software, you are not allowed to make additional content for this software (missions, new models or textures etc). Breaching that point can result from cease and deceit to a law suit. Normally, law suit is only allowed when there is a serious damage done. Another good fact is that EULAs not only say what you can and what you can't do with a software, its also a legal bind between the end user and the author about using the software its self. -------------------------------------------------------- Anyway, thats enough about EULA itself, there is also another fact I want talk about. Let's say I make an addon. An addon that is purely dedicated around in improving the Warfare game mode. The addon has lots of new features, like a proper RTS mode for a commander, new vehicles and so on. Like a total conversion mod purely dedicated around the warfare game mode. I made the addon to improve Warfare according to my taste and visions. And one of my visions about Warfare itself should had been like this from the beginning. Now, the best way for me to keep that vision, is to use a EULA similar to PR. That means, I can be assured that my vision about Warfare remains, it is going to be as I made it and no one can ruin that. That is kinda something similar to PR. But NOT EXACTLY THE SAME. I understand that all mission and mod makers out here, in this community like to rip, rape, modify, do WHATEVER the hell they wish with an addon. Its just like communisim, right? Well, that brings me to a problem that every non-mission and non-addon makers (aka the players) have at the moment and just stick with vanilla Arma 2: A lot of communities are using X versions and Y versions of this and that. For example, lets take ACE. There are only few public servers that just run plain ACE and/or their respective addons. And when I mean few I mean 1-5. And out of those few, 50%-80% are locked servers. That usually means, that a player wanting to play with ACE on a public server has to go and even download MORE addons just so he can play ACE on a domination mission. But once he reaches there, it actually turns out that this domination is not so much domination any more. Its has been rape modified to hell. Thats something that PR wants to exclude. They don't want to have servers where medics have unlimited bandages and other stuff. They don't want servers where there are more (and by more, I mean 10 or even more) addons ran at the same time that have nothing to do with PR at all (for example, a bunch of ACE servers are running a X or Y island addon without there being missions for it). This way, PR can accomplish 1 mayor thing on the multiplayer scene: A player only needs to download 1 setup file or archive, install the addon and he doesn't need to download anything else. THIS is what PR is trying to achieve. ----------------------------------------- EULA: No matter what, you must follow them or be prepared for legal action. (Example: Mafia 2 demo) PR: 1 download only, no need to download any other addons that don't have anything to do with PR at all. Helps players by letting them play the damn thing and not download a bunch of pointless addons. And finally: IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU CAN GO AWAY. No one is forcing you to play PR:
  17. Go ahead then. Unless you only use PR content and make it for PR only then your fine. If you choose to ignore the warning, be prepared for a law suit.
  18. Nop, its not. It prevents other people messing with the mod, combine with other mods and what not. Making missions solely for PR however is like making them for ACE. Please, reread the post fully to understand what UK_Force meant with that.
  19. Instead of this mindless pickering and num num talk, why don't we instead provide feedback and ask some mod (not legal related) questions, as in: What can you tell us more about the Fireteams you can set up in your squad. Will each fireteam leader be able to order his fireteam members around, put some markers down but still be able to speak withing the group channel and what not? I am very interested in the concept, like setting Alpha to be a CQB fireteam (rifleman and such), bravo for long range (sniper, marksman, maybe even automatic rifleman) and charlie for support (Anti-tank guys, medic and such). Another question: What can you tell us about performance, especially for people (like me) with low end computers?
  20. It amazes how everyone is bashing each other and jumping to conclusions without playing the mod.
  21. You can always do a IP trace to find out who is the servers ISP, ask for contact details trough them due to legal reasons and then contact the owner or demand from the ISP themselves to cut the server off from the internet. It's that simple. In PR:BF2 its simple. You need to have access to dedicated server files before you can host a Internet server. Without those, you can still host, but only in LAN based environment. Now, Arma 2 on the other hand at the moment does not need separate dedicated server files to have a Internet server for your favorite mod. Unless PR:Arma 2 Dev Team has made something like this, then you need a server license to host a Internet server. Don't hold me true on that. Consider EULA the lowest point of a law. In each todays modern democratic world, you have a highest point of law called Constitution. All other laws below this have to follow the Constitution. Then you have lower laws, from country wide effecting laws (like no drugs allowed in USA) to region based (like no video games allowed in California only PS: THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE) and then to even local laws (like civilians can't drive their bought military vehicles around that park or something like that). EULA is just like an law, but only applies to the product it came with it. Now, if it restricts free speech (to even not allowing it) during your usage of the product, the author is free to restrict such thing, due to the fact you are (so to speak) a quest in the authors house. One could say that CoolBoxes AAS is based around the Battlefield Conquest mode. But thats another story. As long as the actual code pieces are not copy&pasted, its fine.

  23. Alright, I have hit a new problem. I am trying to add a action to an airplane that when used will move the player to certain position of a given object. It works, but only in local. Everyone else in multiplayer doesn't see the action. I am trying to add the action for a empty C130, which currently has the following INIT field: veh = [this] execVM "plane1.sqf"; veh = [this, 10, 300, 0, FALSE, FALSE, "veh = [this] execVM ""plane1.sqf"""] execVM "vehicle.sqf"; vehicle.sqf is the respawn script I linked earlier. plane1.sqf is a script that makes the C130 function the way I want for the mission, which also contains the addaction functions: Gotogun.sqf is a script I found from the internet:
  24. Hello! Trying to make my first mission, but having some troubles. I am looking for a script that can work with the "Simple vehicle respawn script" that when the vehicle has respawned, some objects are spawned with it as well and attached to the respawned vehicle. Any help?
  25. Not if you model/texture/draw it by yourself.
