It is known that Bardak has sometimes crashed to a tree (AI driving you know) or got stuck with some pathfinding problems. When that 20min limit is gone, you can travel down that road to find him sometimes still sitting in red Golf IV lookalike. Now that I think of it, the only thing coming to my mind is lowering the main weapon by double tapping left CTRL. I have atleast 3 friends who have bought this Arma 2 Combined Operations Steam-version. All of them launch their game with CO (Combined Operations) option and that way they can join my server for both original Arma2 Harvest Red-campaign and Operation Arrowhead campaign. Maybe you didn't see OA missions with CO, because they were not unlocked yet, because you had not completed them once. Anyway I see no reason to launch Combined Operations Steam version with OA option, since eventually all A2 and OA mission can be unlocked and played with CO.

Email when new beta patch or full patch is released
Hanzu replied to Hanzu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Obviously I have missed it. Information in these forums is not always found where you would expect to find it or with search words you assume you find something. Thanks for providing me that it exists, but will this email notifier also email when ever there is full release patch out? Seems like I cannot edit and remove my poll, so I just have to leave it there as it is. BTW. BIS beta patch download is limited to 200kb/s yes, but feels kind of funny to have automatically mirrored server all the way in Australia when BIS and I are both located in Europe, well I guess it does matter where it is when it is faster. ---------- Post added at 01:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 PM ---------- I use search a lot and help people out daily in OFFICIAL MISSION sub forum where a lot of people who do not use search and ask same questions again and again. Please understand that we non native english speakers have different words we know and the word "notification" is not one of those words I would even remember to exist. I would also want to transfer some responsinbility on moderators. If there is a post about "email notification" isn't that more important than post called "exThreads" which has much less to do with beta patces and is still currently marked sticky? I would have certainly see this "email notification" post if it would have been stickied, which it in my opinion would deserve. Also 3 days ago there was a post here about "ARMA 2 OA patch 1.57 textures look bland on PMC, BAF. Why? which has absolutely nothing to do with beta patches. It was answered by a moderator and later it was also locked which is good, but why was it not moved away from this sub forum since it do not belong here. Ironically that poster still got better response than I got, even though he violated two things: posting to wrong forum and not using search. Nobody even told him he posted wrong sub forum. So my point here is that not everyone (including sometimes moderators too) act in a way that most of us can say it is best way and in this case your reply about telling me that I should have used search with right keywords (which were unknown to me) is as useless as my post, since I already noticed from the first reply I should have tried harder to find out if this email thing already exists, but even though if I would have seen that post, because of the forum rules, I cannot provide feedback to the original thread because it is more than 4 months old. So I would still have to post to ask if it will email you when ever there is full release patch out? Moderators please consider marking above mentioned "email notification" thread as sticky. This sub forum above all has space for sticky posts, when nobody is intrested in old beta threads hanging on the front page. -
Razor 2 - Cannot find evidence - SPOILER!
Hanzu replied to OMAC's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
It may be different on SP and MP, I only play MP coop campaigns and mission where it is very useful since I'm the host. So For me ESC->Suspend save works this way: 1. When ever I need to save I choose ESC->Suspend 2. Saving game. Please wait. 3. Game will return to character selection screen. 4. From character selection screen and I choose Resume. 5. Game will load and return to situation where I was before choosing Suspend 6. When any member of my team dies, I will again return to character selection screen and I choose Resume. 7. Game will load and return to situation where I was before choosing Suspend You can also play MP alone just like single player by choosing Host button on server side. Choose LAN or put on a password if you want nobody to join. This way you can test the method and see how it works. Suspend saves are not visible in the Revert list like manual and automatic saves. So you need to choose Resume and not Revert to load Suspend/continue save. It is slower, but at least for me, it is worth it. -
AI Gunner does not use hydra-rockets.
Hanzu replied to Hunter123's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
They are mods and something that should never ever be used for official campaigns or missions. If you have doubts using beta patches because of possible new problems, then you should have much more doubts on mods too, since you can find many posts here where people describe their weird problems and later they say "oh, it was because of I was using a mod". Also they ruin in-designed mission difficulty balance either making things way too easy or in some cases too hard. -
Major Problem: "supporting" in Manhattan
Hanzu replied to OMAC's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
We can consider the developer experts and I have constantly seen them recommending using betas, but you are right they often fix/improve 10 things and break 2 things with them. Betas are not available for A2 anymore, they are only for OA and CO, but as original A2 content can be played on CO side, those fixes can be useful to get fixes for old A2 bugs. -
Major Problem: "supporting" in Manhattan
Hanzu replied to OMAC's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
This has been asked here many many times and the last answer is actually very near only 15 posts down under your post. Read it here. I also experienced this when I played Bitter Chill with 1.56.76134 patch. Sykes seemed to always come like 500 meters behind of other characters. Well yes he is a sniper, so it might be understandble that he looks behind and keeps rear, but well he was pretty unpredicted in his moves. I think your best shot would be to install Latest beta patch and play with it since they have tweaked AI movement very much lately. I'm now playing with the latest beta myself and it is almost scary how well Razor Team follows me. I was so used to them wandering around in regroup. -
What does orange face/character/unit icon color mean?
Hanzu replied to Hanzu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Oh, nothing to do with health status then as I thought originally. Thanks for enlightening me SodyM. :) -
Green face icon means character is healthy Red face icon means character is injured Orange face icon means...? I have seen character face icon going orange only once so is it is a glitch or does it really mean some special status?

Razor 2 - Cannot find evidence - SPOILER!
Hanzu replied to OMAC's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Well thank you. :) I hope they don't disable this feature when they notice it is used as a workaround for manual savegames. ;) Also if you start to use it, there is a multiplayer only bug in it, although you may not need to know it if you never play campaign in MP. If so, someone could test if leaving character 3 behind to start location could be used to keep mission running even if you accidentally run into Bardak too early. Flawless Victory is the best anyone can get (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so looks like everything does not have to be perfect. I got the same Flawless Victory in the end of the campaign. Spoiler button is located in top left corner of your editor window when you write new post, but it you edit old text, it is not there, but you can also use it by putting your spoiler
and
(just remove one space bar behind R) I has never been clear if we are required use
quotes here anyway since they say "Posting spoilers about the campaign missions anywhere other than here may result in a permanent ban from the forums." and I understand that in a way that posting spoilers here without warning is ok, but if you post spoilers in other sub forums you need to use
quotes. Again may the moderators correct me if I am wrong. I sometimes use them anyway just to be polite. -
Razor 2 - Cannot find evidence - SPOILER!
Hanzu replied to OMAC's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Somebody wrote he had wounded Bardak with ramming his car with another car. When he gets out of his car. You might also use use your car to chase him. :) Someone wrote there were another enemy with Bardak in the car. Was he alone when you played? Was the car red VW Golf IV-lookalike or Skoda-lookalike like someone reported? This is nice to know. Have to add that info to my walkthrough. Yes Razor Two is irritating mission because of the timelimit and because it completes early if you capture Bardak too early, but still mission is very intresting. If you play this mission cooperatively with another humans, you might try sendind different players with different vehicles to different locations to get evidence and then regroup south of Gorka to ambush Bardak. (So far I don't know anybody who has tested this). I'm was playing on Expert and I only got one save too, but later the campaign I realized how to workaround that and save as many times you like. Choose ESC->SUSPEND and game will make continuesave which will be automatically loaded when you Resume to game. This continue save is not listed in savegame list, but the game always loads it if you die or crash. I tried hiding bodies there once, but it only made it harder since according to my experience the evidence is always close to the legs of that one corpse. I think if you kill enemy to the spot where he stands without giving him any chance then he will be scripted to drop the evidence to pretty much same place. Optimal situation is that you climb at the west side edge of the quarry and snipe them there with one cooridated attack (sounds like you figured that out too). Spoiler about campaign ending without capturing Bardak. -
Dog of Wars- Can't Reinforce Army?
Hanzu replied to KiloVenom's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
You are not playing Arma 2 Combined Operations if your start menu screen says 1.08. Even though the packet says Combined Operations it is just a bundle with 2 DVDs (Arma2 & Arma2 Operation Arrowhead). If you start menu screen really says 1.08 and you have not installed the second DVD yet, then install Operation Arrowhead to default folder, even though it is standalone game it will do a merged instal with Arma2 original called Combined Operations. Then Install 1.57 patch, which can be installed for those who have Operation Arrowhead (1 DVD) or Combined Operations (2 DVDs). Then launch the game with new shortcut called Arma2 Combined Operations and you can play Harvest Red campaign from there too. Arma2 patch 1.08 is a little left behind in development and they do not release betas for Arma2 original anymore. So most of people might think Harvest Red campaign works better on Arma2 because it is originally part of it and designed for it, but actually with all of those changes to engine and scripting it might work with less bugs on Combined Operations side. For Combined Operations patch 1.57 install you can also use beta patched they release almost weekly basis with trying new fixes, improvements and features. Beta versions have their own exe. So you can launch game as non-beta or beta with 2 separate shortcuts in your game root folder. -

It is well explained here on a great post by kutya. It also explains why Bardak sometimes never shows up. -
Razor 2 - Cannot find evidence - SPOILER!
Hanzu replied to OMAC's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
The evidence at the quarry near Solnichniy is on the grass or on the ground depending where one of the enemies are when you start your attack. One of the enemies drops it when you eliminate them. Press 6 to make one Razor Team member to go and stand near the location for you and then search carefully. Green text should pop up when evidence is in your gun sights. Bardak IS one of the evidences, map and evidence are evidence too. The last evidence is at quarry. It requires long searching time usually to find it because it is tiny and covered with grass. I won't tell you what it is since you didn't want to hear. If you want all 4 evidence you need to avoid Bardak by all means and catch him last after you have got 3 other evidences. -
I think so too and I have also put a lot of effort on reporting campign related bugs to CIT to has less and less bugs each time play or replay Harvest Red campaign. However I think playing Harvest Red campaign cooperatively on multiplayer triples the amount of glitches here and there. I have no exp in community campaigns since official missions take all my limited Arma2 gaming time, but according to your report I could assume Harvest Red starts getting closer to best community campaigns in functionality and stability. Immersion may be experienced differently according to person who is playing. For example when I played campaign cooperatively with my friends most of them disliked the fact that their character talked too much about their current feelings without staying calm and over reacting things with using profanity. So that seemed to be a biggest immersion killers for them. I also disliked the fact that when some discussion was triggered characters 2, 3 and 4 liked to send their stupid radiomessages like "WHERE ARE YOU" or "REPORT POSITION" and this way cutting and distorting the triggered conversation cooper was having with some other character. The right way to do it would have been to make AI characters to shut up when discussion or cutscene is on. All in all spatial immersion, tactical immersion and strategic immersion are really convincing. Narrative immersion is worst with all that overacting, shouting and excess profanity. General feeling is a lot of about taste, but there were really a lot of special things which I liked for example that completing Bitter Chill and Delaying the bear is possible without anyone from Razor Team firing a single shot.

No you are not the only one. 195kb/sec download speed here with 24MB DSL. I think it is limited on BIS server side for purpose otherwise they might run out of bandwith for other operations when lot of people download simultaneously.

Dog of Wars- Can't Reinforce Army?
Hanzu replied to KiloVenom's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Again I since I know from your earlier posts that you play with Arma2 1.08 and you have experinced this "can't reinforce. Gro" message in both Badlands and Dogs Of War, but by googling web or searching this forum you can see nobody has ever written anything about such a message (if that is the exactly the right message and not only something very close to it). So this leads me to a conclusion that I again think this "A2 Only"-bug, meaning it will not occur when played in Combined Operations side. Reporting it as a new issue with repro steps is the best chance to get rid of the problem or to buy Operation Arrowhead too and install A2+OA together as Combined Operations. I've been playing Dogs Of War with OA 1.57 betas for 3 weeks now and I can buy and build BRDM-2, Shilka and T-72 with heavy armor factory and Mi-17 and Mi-24 with helipad (factory). Seems like airplanes are disabled in Dogs Of War. -
The strangest glitch ever (badlands mission)
Hanzu replied to KiloVenom's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
If I remember correctly I could not even get inside HQ APC in Badlands and I have never heard how to skip cutscenes in Combined Operations (A2+OA), I suspect both features have been removed in Combined Operations to avoid problems they may create. The whole issue sounds like it could be "A2 Only"-bug, meaning it will not occur when Badlands is beeing played in Combined Operations side. Nevertheless, you guys could report it as a new issue occuring in Arma2 1.08: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/cis/issues/new to have any chances of getting it fixed. -
I agree you that they should also fix more real bugs and not look like they spend 90% of bugfixing time with tweaking AI, since there are always people who disagree how AI should behave, but who can disagree fixing a crash, visual anomalties, warfare functions, world bugs, weapon model glitches or double animation for grenade throwing and so on. I also disagree you on something. I think you misused the term COOP here. I consider real COOP anything where 2 or more humans oppose enemy AI without friendly AI support. So in fact them tweaking AI is more of considered SP (single player) tweaking. When we (me and others belonging to same cooperative gaming society) play real COOP we always disable AI otherwise you will respawn as one when you are dead. I've been computer gaming since 1984 and you know what...I'm tired of PvP and all the cheating and emotions in there. There is already enough fighting and competition in the world between humans. To me cooperative gaming is much more relaxing. It is not who has the best latency, best reflexes, widest resolution or about worrying if your opponent is cheating or glitching. There seemst to be elderly players like me who have had their share of PvP and got tired of never ending story in that. "Healthier community"...? For what I have seen PvP is one of the main reasons why there are so much tension between players. I and bunch of my friends bought this game for COOP only and nothing else. What I would like to see more than AI tweaks or PvP tweaks, I would like to get more fixes to game stability, gameplay, world bugs and features related original COOP missions and for campaigns played cooperatively in multiplayer. There are still a bunch of irritating bugs in campaign that only show up when you play original campaigns like Harvest Red cooperatively with someone else. What comes to be beeing bigger, there has been discussion about this so many times and I think this game will never be mainstream. Mainstream game would need really big worldwide advertising, simple controls and better optimization for less powerful hardware (since not all the people have high end hardware). If you aske me there are too many games that offer more for PvP lovers, such as better stability, features like ingame player statistics or highly polished warping free multiplayer protocol. I this point of view can't see this game beeing one of the top PvP games ever, but ofcourse it is also very versatile and most of the people who like war simulator games like Arma2 series too. Sorry for the rant, but can't pass without giving another opinion.

Have you tried to decrease AToC by editing arma2oa.cfg to see if your performance returns to the level you are used to? http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1843342&postcount=83 It was recently added and obviously it will consume more GPU power.
-
Cooper should have them already when mission starts. Just scroll your wheel in the house to set them. Make sure you leave house before 10 minutes have passed or you need to do some firefight with OPFOR (which might have negative effect for relations to russins later in game). There is also a truck moving around in around FOB Manhattan road and Krasnostav road in mission start. You can get Gear from there too, but its russian origin.
-
I think it only means gamemakers have not spend too much time customizing command menu for specific mission, so pretty much all commands are available in all missions and not all that have no use are greyed out or removed.
-
Zoom map for villages or towns until you see black gas pump marker. Drive next to it and you will see Refuelling text showing up and gas going up. Also in Bitter Chill you can refuel at FOB Manhattan gate by driving next to grey barrels. Also in east coast main road there is one gas station on west side of the road easily to be seen from the road. Not really sure but I think repairing or reloading vehicles is not possible without repair trucks or engineer class soldier that do not exist in this campaign. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

How to play single player missions in COOP on dedicated Server
Hanzu replied to maconic's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Actually I have never played SP, but I know SP savegames and progress are saved to different folder so if you want to make sure, backup contents of that directory (see file dates to indentify and compare them to the date when you last played SP, I assume you have some progress in there otherwise you would not worry about such things). There are quite few information if SP and MP campaign are interconnected and after reading this report you will just get more confused: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/15016 Maybe someone else who has played same campaign both in SP and in MP (coop) can verify this to us.
