Infantry marker but 2 dots over it. What unit is it?
Hanzu replied to Hanzu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Yes not in army but in Arma it seems that infantry marker with one dot can really be just one man. As seen in this picture. Thanks for the tip tom3kb! Looks like Google keywords "nato unit symbols" gave best results. So according to this source I can verify it is: Squad = 1 dot Section = 2 dots Platoon/Detachment = 3 dots -
Infantry marker but 2 dots over it. What unit is it?
Hanzu replied to Hanzu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
You may be right. At least I know for sure 1 dot can also be just one man. -
Playing campaign in multiplayer cooperatively is plagued by a bug where always last continue/Suspend-save is the only one that you can revert to, unless you delete that continue-save manually in Windows. http://www.dev-heaven.net/issues/16205 That is why game always reverted to the save where you were in Gorka even though there were newer autosaves (and maybe manual saves too). Bug category 1: Sent crash files for 8 Out of memory errors. As said in the previous beta this one also first slows down to 1-5 FPS and then rans out of memory and crashes. This should not be happen even with maximum video settings with i7-2600K+GTX570+8GB RAM+SSD+Win7 64-bit (1680x1050 resolution). Bug category 2: I can also verify AT Specialists, stationary machinegunners and women all die to standing position. Found some non-reported bugs that have been there probably from the release of Arma2. Feel free to use these screenshots if you want to make CIT tickets from them instead of me. Here they are Bug category 3: If you are on using UAV, keeping map on and decide to save there, next time you load that save you have map unit icons all over your normal view and terrain is grey scale. After using binoculars once. Grey scale is gone, but unit icons stay until UAV is destroyed or you turn around and re-enter its control panel. Manhattan mission related and because of that

saves and longplay results in "out of memory"
Hanzu replied to Smejki's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have experiences similar problems as long as I started playing Arma2 CO back in V1.54 patch. Game slowed down after savegame was used 4-7 times. After game had slowed down too much to 1-5 FPS it crashed usually with "out of memory" error. In Chernarus map this was most common. After moving from harddisk+WinXP 32-bit to SSD+Win7 64-bit. Problem became more rare. Also no more slowdowns+crash, just "out of memory" after multiple hours of playing again usually in Chernarus map missions. -
1.59.81201 created showshopped bug for Bitter Chill. Mission will not proceed after start. See details: http://www.dev-heaven.net/issues/15621#note-2 It is easy and fast to reproduce, just start Bitter Chill mission and watch. The bugs start flooding in as soon as mission starts cannot avoid seeing them.

Hanzu replied to nicklomas's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Looks like someone else has something like that, if you see second attached video file. http://www.dev-heaven.net/issues/18503 I myself have not experienced it though. -
Playing the OA Campaign with 0 Casualties
Hanzu replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I hate Operation Arrowhead campaign feature when you die, you will automatically respawn and take control of some other friendly soldier. I liked Harvest Red campaign style better (if any of teammembers die, mission will end). -
I just completed Razor Two mission last week with 1.59.79600 (beta). There is no real cutscene there. Bardak just runs few meters, lifts his hands up, then rolls in the ground like wounded (even though you didn't fire at him). Meanwhile there is dialog between Cooper and Bardak and also between Cooper and Swordsman 1. I have screenshots if you want to compare to what happened to you. What kind of cutscene there was eariler for you?

Manhattan: destroy Chdkz main base
Hanzu replied to amore555's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I just completed those a few days ago with V1.59 which should contain same fixes that were done to V1.09. Make sure you check those 3 bunkers by going inside them. The enemies inside those will not leave their duty unless under heavy fire. So they can be there all quiet. Also check that damaged enemy vehicles are not containing some hiding crew. Destroying their vehicles completely prevents this. You can also enter slightly damaged vehicles, it there is still crew, they will exit once Razor Team enters. BMP-2 moving around near base usually leaves some crew survivors. So check forest near its wreck. -
Manhattan: destroy Chdkz main base
Hanzu replied to amore555's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
What patch version you are using? Did you get autosave there (Saving game. Please Wait)? It comes only when all enemies that were originally inside the camp are eliminated. If you did not get autosave, it only means there are still some enemies probably fleed in the the forest. There are also 3 bunkers which all contain one enemy. The tent usually contains 2 enemies. Tasks associated are: Task: Insurgent main base: Task: Destroy the ChDKZ base Both should be green after completed. Not grey. -
V1.54 - Manhattan - Cpt. Shaftoe and his mystical death and how to possibly avoid it
Hanzu replied to Hanzu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Yes the one who blows up Nikolayev's house cannot be captured. Assuming the bomber is the same as Villager standing in north part of Khelm and trying to shoot you with Makarov pistol when you go close to him. No matter how much you wound him, he will not surrender. I even tried to hit him with APC, but no surrender. Fresh info about the subject here: http://www.dev-heaven.net/issues/12248 They could easily fix one issue by changing camouglage net from heavy damage causing object to light non-damage causing object. There are only small chances to get fixes like that by reporting them to CIT and that is why I've not done it. BTW. What patch were you using? I tried to remove "V1.54" from this thread title, since it is still true in latest patches too and probably will be forever. There is a sticky function in the forums, but as you see this is pretty much the only subforum here without any stickies. Nothing we can do about it without beeing a moderator. I agree and I have suggested that to deaf ears. Setting it to 1 year or completely removing it would considerably help getting less threads about same things, but they want to keep it that way and in a result every week new members will answer to threads that are older than 4 months, because there are so many forums without this rule and they do not notice this forum has a rule for that. What you could do to obey rules would be to start new thread and start it with a link to the old thread. After many members would do this, maybe they could realize we would be better without that rule. Actually I've been doing the same lately. Much faster to copy that folder in the middle of the game than the whole profile. -
Not any really good ideas except either playing the whole campaign on Arma2 Combined Operations V1.59 or avoiding going to that location and ignoring that evidence. Tents or camouflage nets in Arma2 can collapse. I have seen characters getting killed or injured because camouflage net has been rammed by vehicle or shot at and as it acts like any heavy object it makes damage to anything under it. This is unrealistic yes, but not our fault that they have done it that way. So I would not go into that tent before I'm sure it will not collapse because of enemy shooting at it (because you are inside).

squad is killing me -- map shows me as enemy
Hanzu replied to LiquidArrogance's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
...also I'm not sure if Sykes or any other computer controlled Razor Team member would shoot friendlies accidentally even if you accidentally order them to do so. In your "bad" save, I would just try to make whole team to lie down, pop some smokes, roll away, self-defend or just wait those 2 parties to finish each other up. Are you playing Veteran or Expert difficulty (like I always do) since you only have one save? -
squad is killing me -- map shows me as enemy
Hanzu replied to LiquidArrogance's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
By telling us what campaign and what mission it is. Someone might know what is going on there. I could give some examples of missions where NAPA (allied) guys rush towards you with guns from same direction than Chedaki (enemy). So only shoot those unknown men after you are sure they tried to shoot at you first. And yes, this game sometimes punishes of friendly fire, by making AI friendlies to shoot you as a traitor. -
... ...but I would not report those as bugs before making sure it is not because I use TrackIR and 5.1 headphones which might do tricks when I move my head in those cutscenes and enviromental sound sources change and go to low volume because I look some other character than the one who is speaking.

Type the error message it gives here exactly the same way it is on screen or post a screenshot of it.

In what patch version these anomalities occurred and what language version of the game was used if not english? 3. Do you mean the whole Harvest Red campaign or just Harvest Red mission of Harvest Red campaign? Any examples what sounds are missing? No-one has time to go through all sounds. So detailed report may result fixes. Less detailed report will very likely not result anything.

Are you sure your speakers or headphones are configured corrently. I mean that kind of problem might happen when 5.1 heaphones with multiple wires is installed to wrong jacks and/or speaker configuration is not changed from stereo to 5.1.

Cannot load save files in Badlands mission - please help
Hanzu replied to Saint Warrior's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
If still having same problems, I just want you to know what I just found out that some S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic software Acronis Drive Monitor will conflict Arma2 save routines. I had that software running simultaneously with Arma2 and my autosave crashed to desktop always in same postion. After crashing 5 times in a row I suddenly became "S.M.A.R.T." myself and realized it is that software that I had installed a couple of days ago. Not all little programs running in the background are ok to keep running while playing. Surely 1.59 patch is a good decision when playing Badlands next time. You probably have updated by now. Were you playing this on sp or mp? In mp if you quit, game will create third type of savegame which I call suspendsave/continuesave. The game has a bug where that type of save has higher priority than autosaves or manualsaves, so after quitting game once, the only save that can be loaded is latest suspendsave. To use latest autosave or manualsave, continue save must be deleted manually in Windows after which latest autosave or manual save will load again. -
Try re-downloading that 1.09 patch if might have be corrupted. Windows 7 64-bit works very well with Arma2. That is not the reason for sure.
-
You need to choose which is more important for you. You use ACE and CBA or to play official missions like Pathfinder without a doubt that mod is conflicting the mission that is not designed without those mods. If you ask me using mods with official missions brings more harm than it brings enjoyment. I'm not against mods, but I would use them later in custom missions or in multiplayer PvP sessions. BTW. Isn't Arma2 speed shown in kilometers per hour, since it is designed here in Europe. I have completed that mission and those tanks are not really fast on any terrain anyway. You may try to hold shift (that makes some vehicles to go faster) and trying to stay in roads. Alternatively you may press E instead of W+SHIFT to go full speed.

Wise to use add-ons in Official Missions?
Hanzu replied to azz_er's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I think it is not wise and I would never do it myself. There are too many bugs in official missions already without mods and using mods brings out even more. If something is not working just disabling that mod may not help, if mod has made thing that have been included to the latest save and will not return to normal state without full restart of the mission. I'm not only one thinking this way, since I have seen people with more than thousand posts saying mods like ACE are likely to create conflicts in missions that were designed way before they were in that state they are now and official missions are are very likely designed and tested completely without them. Also I do not see any point using some mod that makes mission easier than it is designed to be for example by making healing or using missiles easier or something like that. To me it is just cheating. If someone wants mission to be easier, just lower your difficulty to Easy and you will also get better compatibility. I do not see any point using some mod to add more realism either. There are so many things in official mission that are unrealistic by design anyway (for example Warfare function) and missions like Manhattan, Badlands or Dogs Of War should have been split in 2-3 separate missions to make them more stable and more reliable in Task triggering functions. So I do not see why someone would want to use some running fatigue function or anything that makes any official mission more nervebreaking or much harder work to complete. If you make your character to be able to sprint shorter times, what if AI enemy is running after you and this mod function is not slowing him down (yes been there done that - when I ran out of ammo in Payback). Such mods are clearly meant for multiplayer PvP or custom missions designed for them and I can see it as a very good thing to be used there. This is just my opinion and I encourage to make your own decision, but if you get stuck on somewhere during mission or something is not working, at least I do not usually want waste my time replying to posts here on official mission that are likely to be caused because of using mods. Also note that if you are using some mod and latest patch together, try to find out what is the last time that mod has been updated and is it still compatible with latest patch. The developers change gameplay functions slightly every now and then when releasing patches, so if some mod is not updated actively enough, it may bring on issues.
