I am experiencing the same sort of crashes. I bought the Combined Ops package from steam. Operation Arrowhead works brilliantly so far, I've only had it CTD a few times when doing something really intense with the editor. ARMA 2 (and Combined Ops), however, will freeze in the same way as HomerPepsi's did in an easily reproducible manner. Any time I try to fire a javelin missile, or start up a helicopter for instance. The crash actually very closely mimics what happens to my laptop when it overheats from lack of airflow, and at first I thought that was my problem. The screen goes black and whatever sound was playing last can be heard stuttering in a very short loop. The computer will not respond in any manner until I force it off with the power button. I've been playing around with drivers and settings but nothing has helped so far. I'm going to try reinstalling shortly.
