Ineteresting, thanks! As is usual with adobe software, there are 15 ways to do everything. 13 efficient and professional ways and two really silly ones. I always choose the latter... I did a copy paste job on everything, followed by a path offset and a color change. Follow that with a little "send to back" and you've got yourself a semi-convincing TADS font :) @NodUnit, Thanks for the heads up on the font, I'll check it out for sure Edit:damn that font is nearly perfect! Looks like a quick do-over for me! :D

Tell me about it! Combat helo is looking good though :) I figured this probably wouldn't be something useable for the reasons you mentioned. I'm just desperate to see more realism in the arma choppers. The vanilla TADS view is a little lacking, especially when you consider that "guncam" footage (showing the correct symbology) is so readily available Yeah, I have much to learn :D ---------- Post added at 05:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:52 PM ---------- Font is called minecraftia, available at dafont.com if you still need it Getting the symbols/characters to have the proper amount of outline or drop shadow was the tricky part Edit:can't seem to find it under that name, sorry. When I get home I'll update this post with the proper font name

@NodUnit A little over a year ago I offered to make a TADS overlay for your amazing looking apache mod. Then I got myself extremely distracted with the DCS series of sims... :D Anyway, I was making a couple of briefing images for a DCS mission I'm cooking and created a new overlay, than remembered this thread! http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g347/SmokeyTheLung/apacheoverlayDCS.png Image is well over the forum limit! My mistake!-Smokey The "FLIR" image is straight out of the DCS series, but the overlay is currently sitting on my HD in the form of an adobe illustrator file. I've got no experience with modding, and therefor no idea how useful this might be. I Basically created the font, and have a file with all the symbols that can be displayed (that I know of) i.e. AZ LIMIT, NO MISSILES, DTV, MSL TOF-02... you get the idea shoot me a PM if you want me to email you this stuff Apache is looking awesome BTW! Nice work!

[OA] AH64 - Real Gunner View?

Been workin on this, but due to lack of experience with mods I doubt it will ever see the light of day -

bet it's gonna be fun to fly over. Very nice work -
Another quick question for you dudes; In reality the gunner is looking at a 5"x5" display. Most guncam footage is stretched to a widescreen format, this is what I did with the last photos. Should I make this thing widescreen? Or should it be a square image? I personally think it would be out of this world to somehow overlay the working gunsight to the cockpit, so the gunner dosn't have to zoom in to use the weapons, (guessing that's not possible due to engine limitations) think DCS black shark. If done like this you wouldn't have to worry about the aspect ratio of the sight being off.
-
Will do, I was wondering what font they use. I'm thinking that everything but the cross hair got a little to stretched looking. I will re-draw. Just got a quick question before I do, and please forgive my inexperience here; This is pixel based art, is that what I should be using? Or vectors? If pixel, what resolution would you recommend I use? (right now I'm going very large, figuring you dudes could always scale back...) THanks for the help in advanced p.s. Chopper looks rad

Here are some more shots of the TADS screen, I threw in the "line of sight" reticle; http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g347/SmokeyTheLung/APACHE_NFOV_LOS.jpg http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g347/SmokeyTheLung/Untitled-1.jpg ...man I'm really trying to sell this thing! edit; that first file should be called WFOV, the second link shoes a NFOV.
-
@Franze. Can you give me a sense of the resolution that the TADS reticle should be? 1080 is the highest res supported, I think, so should it be in that range?
-
Understood. The image is pieced together from multiple parts (I have a file for each symbol). Theoretically it should be possible to animate the image. What do you know about the target restraints box? (I think that's the right term, the checkerd box that appears in some fotage). Does it appear when the designator is turned on? I'm going to remove the part that says "RECORDING," as you pointed out it seems alittle arbitrary.
-
It's representing the same thing, but this one is more accurate. Unfortunatly due to my lack of knowledge/skill this is just a prop (no animations for the various symbols). I was tired of the seemingly inaccurate BIS version (although for all I know there's might be a perfect representation of the older style "heads down" display that is modeled in the BIS gunner seat [the thing that looks a bit like binoculars]) this one features about 80% of the symbology that an apache co-pilot would see on his 5x5 MPD in a newer model AH-64. @nodunit. Model is looking great! Hope your not offended that I'm posting this stuff in your thread. This thing I'm workin on sure as hell dosn't warrant it's own thread, so this seems like a decent home for it.

This is hands down the best looking model I've seen for this game. It should be a blast!

Here's the TADS reticle I've been working on (WIP very low res); edit; sorry resolution too high too post, Doh... :q: http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g347/SmokeyTheLung/APACHERETICLE3JPEG2.jpg It's still a little rough, I could use feedback if any of you gents are in the know. For instance, I'm not 100% sure how much of the writing is visible to the gunner. I'm also not 100% on the symbology, I've pieced this together from a few sources. It's still missing a few things and frankly I'm not quite sure if anyone can even use this (this will officially pop my mod-making/contributing cherry and as such I really don't know what it would take to actually get this ingame). If you do think It would be of use I will happily get this out there in hi res. I've created a number of images, with designator off and in the varying stages of FOV (moved brackets)
