Realistic Armor Fights and Penetration.
savagegoose replied to Bazul14's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
i imagine of a round penetrated and destroyed some stuff maybe killed a crew member. there would be an instinctive urge to bug out before the next round hit. and maybe killed you. ie sometimes a mob kill might cause crew to abandon the tank but yeah not all the time. and maybe based on moral or training levels crew is supposed to have -
awesome work

equal damage or effect from damage on east and west tanks

you could always do a ww2 tank game, at least the armor stats and penetration stats are known -
Realistic Armor Fights and Penetration.
savagegoose replied to Bazul14's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
thanks for the info max power. my attraction to this thread is my love of an old game M1 tank platoon. in that game a hit could bounce, cause a mobility or firepower kill or a total kill. i see the FCS mods for tanks, and wondered if a more realistic component hit system would ever come about. but then id like a ww2 version also. at least there armour and penetration performance is not all secret and restricted info -
ok so modern tank defense systems are classified, so do a ww2 tank system, all thats declassified and there's plenty of data out there.

prob my fave tank sim of all time , what i liked was that although it was the same game over again and again. the random maps and random force assignments made it ultimately re playable. the core experience was 4 m1 tanks vs waves of russian armoured, mech , and choppers. sometimes you got bradly support., sometimes a chopper or even an artillery support. depending how well you did in the 1st battle would mean either the next was an assault, or a hasty defence. after maybe a dozen battles the war was over. eaither you got pushed back and crushed, or you kept on roilling over the enemy and final battles would be kill as many as you can before the escape off map. anyhow way back then i dreamed of modern games where you could hop out the tank, and fire the ATGM or operate the bradley. well we are there now in the tech aspect but the campaign doesnt seem the same, if we lose a battle here its reload and try again to win it until we finnish all the scenario's. Im no modder, but this is my suggestion for a variant of this game. some sort of campaign where the success of the 1st mission determines what the next battle will be. ie, an offensive or defensive battle. I can forgo the random maps. maybe even using the ones already provided, just depending on how badly the trouncing went in the 1st battle is how far back the player , or AI, is pushed , campaign ends when one side is forced into the sea. just my 1st suggestion/ idea. oh and another thing made it such an experience was that you could hop into any of your 4 tanks, and swap between positions. it would be nice of that was possible. is there way to make a mod where you can change vehicles form the map? im thinking not but that was a main feature of m1 that doesnt seem to carry on in modern games.

savagegoose replied to rip31st's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
oh its like a dream come true. im really gonna have tyo learn how to mod up my game., oh and how to fight. -
do they have all that fly by wire stuff in the ah64? so its not really the pilot in control he just tells the controls what he wants and the cpu figures out what to throttle and tilt?
-
im a lefty and usde mouse in right hand, and operate like a RH player., i also have an x-45 joystick / throttle that leaves a lot to be desired by left handers. ie its a right handed HOTAS setup, i have learned to suck it up.

Whats your opinion on arma 3? (if there is one)
savagegoose replied to jacobj9's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
personally id like to see aSHTF scenario in korea, not in the real world of course. but in a sim. arty barrages on a capital city, fighting defensive withdrawals with millions of civvies fleeing along your supply roads. massive waves of air support. wait same could all be said for a major european war. but on the game engine side, phsyics and ai path finding, would be kinda cool. -
well a real physics engine would do that. maybe arma 3

man the amount of time i get shot in this game, these holograms are gonna hurt.

savagegoose replied to jacobj9's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
how about a map of the world, click a country and quick battle and it generates a war there just for you. -
should be a bomb drop line in the HUD. the - on the line is where the bomb hits, fly till that is over the target square on the thing you want to hit and fire. well thats how it always woirked on older flight sims.

" ...then one day woosh with our heat ray, woosh them running and dying " i could see an alien invasion mod where we get to steal the alien walking machines, as very satisfying. -
yeah model looked good, only thing diff i could tell from the professional models was the texture mappping. if i had made the model, i would be really happy with myself.
