    Thoughts on using enemy uniforms

Perhaps there should be some limitation on the effectiveness of enemy uniform vs. civilian clothes, i.e. the former being of use for a short-term before you inevitably get found out but do allow you to get into restricted places vs. Civilian clothes, which allow you much longer unfettered movement around the island BUT don’t get you into restricted enemy places. Perhaps have some method of logging time in enemy uniform & civilian clothes which over time and in proximity of the enemy increases the overall effectiveness of you using enemy uniform or civilian clothes types. If there is a story going on in the background of A3 perhaps incorporate a “forger†who will make you civilian ID papers and at a later point enemy military ID papers, in the case of the former civilian ID papers it would get you past road block/checkpoints or pass an ID challenge from enemy solder which at lower levels in civilian clothes without ID you would have to avoid, with the latter military ID papers you would have to have ID of someone other than in the unit you will be attacking which early on has got to be “harvested†ware as later on you get a much better forged military ID of XYZ rank which is enough to fool lower ranks of enemy but less effective on equal or higher rank enemy. Likewise, if you are a lower rank and are ordered to do something by a higher rank enemy then you have to be seen to do it to avoid being found out before/wile slipping out of there view.

A close-range headshot from a silenced Walther PPK/P99 from a smartly dressed man in a tailored suit who drives a slick silver Aston Martin and likes his drinks “shaken not stirred
  3. Me too as a test, but i don't use "-world=empty" normally. You "may" have to concede that maybe KB/mouse-only user may be better using medium or easy settings even if they used "hard/expert" in A2 etc. There are many joysticks out there from the cheap to the expensive with many in-between, given the limited fidelity of KB/mouse-only ;)

    Thoughts on using enemy uniforms

It’s not really that vague, using an anti-material rifle, with AM specific rounds (some AP, incendiary, explosive, penetrator, etc) on people directly rather than on “material†would be a breach as even by their own naming are for the anti-material roll. Killing someone who is in or behind “material†like in APC or even a soft skin vehicle which is the target it’s self is an entirely different matter. The above is in part why dumdum’s don’t appear on the battlefield and are specifically legislated against going back to 1899 and why exploding projectiles of < 400 grams are legislated against in the anti personnel projectile roll

It depends on what you’re using it for and the type of round and if it’s direct or indirect targeting of a person and or the threat to you in NOT taking the shot. i.e. firing direct at a person is somewhat different to aiming at a vehicle and just so happening to also hit a person inside, likewise using a built specifically designed to kill people is different from using ones designed stop vehicles etc, likewise if not shooting someone would result in your imminent death due to close proximity regardless of the bullet type is different to being 1km+ away and in little imminent danger. It comes down to causing superfluous injury contra to article 35, 1 & 2: And article 36:

 Some of us are planning ahead to ArmA 7 where we may be captured and placed in a POW camp (rather than summarily executed as a spy), then we spend 6 months planning our escape, 2 years digging tunnels etc whereupon we escape causing inconvenience in attempts to recapture, some of us will make it hundreds of km back to our own lines before reequipping and fighting back and its all done in real time in a persistent armaverse! ;)

But if it is done in a country you do not occupy in full thus make the rules then you lose your rights as regular soldier and thus are a spy if the wrong side gets you.

Yes but to use the fact that Libya within its own legal framework carries out the death penalty ergo makes everything automatically bad/negative/etc or that the fact they use firing squad as being bad/negative/etc or any other permutation to make Libya look bad is very wide of the mark. Death by firing squad IS the most popular means of legal execution the world over used in many country’s, that fact that Libya have used is of NO relevance or argument regardless of your personal feelings on the subject, Libya has the death penalty for high treason amongst other things which every single rebel in Libya WILL be guilty of however much you try to distort things, if the rebel is shooting at you the military I am afraid to say it’s an extremely clear cut case of high treason which like MENY country’s do or have in the past have exceptions in place specifically relating to “war†and the “threat of war†be it internal or external and it HAS to be accepted that during war exceptions to the normal course of action exist. As a case in point - exceptions at time of war: If we take the UK, it was not until the ECoHR 6th protocol was adopted in 1998 that the death penalty (excepting: in time of war or imminent threat of war) was abolished and under military law via the HRA that same year, it was not until 2004 that the UK parliament ratified the ECoHR 13th Protocol that death penalty cessed to exist in the UK for anything at any time inc wartime etc. ;) There were ~46 people executed last year in the USA, perhaps you should consider these people as well as well as the MENY other countries who also LEGALY within their own legal framework carry out the death penalty, so trying to use Libya use of the death penalty to mark it apart is foolish. As for you other links, it’s not for me to prove they are right, it’s for you given you don’t know the author, or the truth of ANY statement made within them, the best you can merely do is take them at face value as someone’s opinion who you cannot verify or attest as being the truth/truthful, we are NOT dealing with conversion factors, numbers or other things that can easily be checked like the exact conversion of an imperial FT into metric CM with 10000 other places on the web that it can be checked yet alone all the reference books, hell anything written on Libya the past 6months plus will be written with the authors own bent or skew of the situation be it politics, religion or just the need to make Libya look good OR bad to the outside world!

Guys you should remember that “Wikipedia†pages can be written by ANY idiot and NOTHING on Wikipedia should be considered true or factual by virtue of being on “Wikipedia†Likewise using other links can also be bad and nonfactual as can how you wish to “report†what is said in the link e.g. Could be reported as: Libya executed one less person (18) in 2010 than Yemen (19) (another Arab state). Who were shot by firing squad, by contrast the US state of Utah had one shot by firing squad in 2010 where there is a choice of execution means available to the defendant. It’s the same info, but the former is presented in a sensationalist fashion and with the use of ambiguity to misdirect, i.e. using “African state†rather than “Arab state†to hide Yemen, the latter is a more balanced synopsis and less sensationalist.

    Mission IDEA

must be a muster pilot in his day job.
  12. I realise they are describing AoA, drag’s etc, my question was more one of how they describe blade movement i.e. if -180 to 0 describes the advancing blade from 6oclock (PM) to 12oclock (anticlockwise) and 0 to +180 is the retreating blade from 12oclock to 6oclock (AM)(anticlockwise) which is how I perceive it rather than being speed related i.e. +180kts, -180kts. Because if they are describing a circle then the +180 & -180 number MUST be the same as they are describing the exact same point of the blades position/angle/drag/AoA/etc and the following/preceding numbers (-170/+170) have got to be reasonably similar with no big jump between them, like there are on some but not on others.
  13. RiE: noting what you say about the XML vs. exe Looking threw the “Light-GenHeli600-DesktopSim.xml†file there are some values (LiftDueToAoA, SideForceDueToSideslip, DragDueToAoA, PitchingMomentDueToAoA, YawingMomentDueToSideslip) which use numbers from -180 to +180 (degrees?) with “0†forming there mid point, am right that these numbers are describing a circle the blade would make where -180 & +180 is the point that circle is completed/restarts at 6oclock wile “0†is at 12oclock? If so, I see there are some errors where the start and end value are NOT the same nor there preceding points close so even if one of the “180†values was dropped it leads to a “jump†in figures from the end of the circle to the start of the circle. Also “LiftDueToAoA†has an erroneous value at “30.0000†i.e. 18.0000 0.1843 20.0000 0.1907 30.0000 -0.0001 40.0000 0.4658 50.0000 0.9087 Which is really causing the 30.0000 point to describe ~ (tide) like bump/blip out of place with preceding or following numbers even if I have got it wrong and values from -180 to +180 describe forwards and backwards speed rather than the left/right semi-circle of a blade rotation.
  14. Have you tried running A2OA once before trying to reinstall the TKoH CP?
  15. As far as I can see it, the flight modal is ostensibly the same with some scalier changes from “0.2†to “0.1†relating to AoA, side slip, drag, and the pitching due to AoA, which as far as I can feel makes things feel lighter (unless there have been changes to FFB centring strength) and less prone to pitching up that some people have commented on, so is now more prone to sideslip, but this also means you have to have more bank/role/nose up/down to initiate/counter movement, this also gives a significant feel to being nose down/tail up at perhaps a steeper angle and duration than perhaps you would expect, but any scalier jump from 0.2 to 0.1 is really like going from 100% to 50% i.e. halving something. Also there is a correction of power from 650 units down to 375 units, 375HP would be correct, however I would have thought BIS being metric in almost everything else would use KW as a native unit? (though it’s easy enough to program an in-line conversion factor to get an imperial unit into a metric program) >0.735KW <0.746KW = ~1hp.

I don’t where you have been and while that may be an ideal however the truth with respect to the UK is somewhat different as the burden of “evidence†needed is considerably lower than the CPS would require to even entertain perusing a conviction. mass graves, people being burned, buried, shot, blown apart, etc etc etc are not really proof of anything are they, people can be lawfully put in mass graves or have any of the aforementioned things done to them as a result of many different things or as a result of war, tell me where do you think the mass graves will be from soldiers killed in NATO attacks etc, I am sure more than a few graves of loyal soldiers will be claimed as being something other. There is a little thing call peaceful protest, as a protester as soon as you take up arms you lose rights just as you or I would forfeit our lives if we went to the centre of London armed with assault rifle and started firing at police or military personal even if EVERYONE knew we were civilians. NO the rebels are NOT the population of the towns though some will be, NO town will have 100% of its population as anti Gadhafi, when you have armed rebels and vocal anti Gadhafi inhabitants roaming the streets this terrorises people who are pro Gadhafi and are you really that naïve to believe that the rebels are “such a lovely bunch of people†that you could express pro Gadhafi sentiment in a rebel held town without fear of retribution to a news reporter with rebels stood around you or acting as a guide for that news reporter. You seam to be of the misguided indoctrinated state of mind that that somehow the only laws in Libya were for the sole benefit of Gaddafi. I take it you are not that well travelled and have never worked in some oil producing states sometime over the past 25 years? Do you not think town squares are the best place for public execution or that somehow hanging, being shot or having bits chopped off, floggings etc etc are somehow limited to Libya or are you of the mind that its just ok to execute behind closed doors like in the USA. Me a warped sense of justice, no, I just realise sometime some things are really quite clear cut and “war†sometimes precludes the normal methods that would be applied in peace time which means decisive action must be taken, trying to go AWAL or deserting ones post or failing to follow a legal order, etc etc are fround upon at the best of times and in many military’s the world over at times of war will result in significantly shortened lifespan even if you make it to courts martial. ---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:58 PM ---------- i think you will find thay didn’t, BUT a few country’s just within a couple of days of it first starting had people there to cause problems and to help the rebels which is when their interfering started and the rest of the UN's and then NATO's actions after have turned something small into something much bigger like a civil war when if they had keped their noses out of where they didn’t belong the armed rebels would have been put down and many thousands of people would have still been alive! ;)

like any Criminal Court, if someone brings forward "evidence" no mater how floored or if it is uncontested etc etc they have to "be seen" to act, the request for appearance in its self is NO basis for assumed guilt or the voracity of ANY charge OR “evidenceâ€, just like ANY arrest warrant issued to compel court appearance in its self is worth NOTHING with respect to guilt or innocence. If you were a jury member expressing the above like you have would be enough for you to be rightly removed from the jury, if you have ever served on a jury then one would have NO option but to question the end result. Myself I have NO problem with a sovereign or country’s leader issuing an order to put down an illegal armed uprising, if the rebels have big weapons like WE ALL KNOW THEY HAD and IF THEY WISH TO HIDE IN TOWNS LIKE THEY DID then it is only natural that some innocent civilians WILL get in crossfire and the rebels are the ones who started this so ARE the ones to ultimately blame for deaths, if the rebels were extremely well dug in and using the civilian population in that town as a human shields then the most precision ordinance should be used and if non are available then that is just hard luck for innocent civilians who were being put in danger by the rebels in taking the positions they have. The root cause of ALL the deaths in Libya are the rebels who ARE acting illegally and outside of that country’s laws, this is why they are referred to as rebels or if you want another name for them terrorists if you don’t gloss over the truth with spin your spoon feed. I don’t have a problem with rebels being tortured, it was and is good enough for the US, UK and others to torture in the past 10 years in the seedy underhand ways they have especially the US or how they turned a blind eye to torcher by others who would then give the information to them. You know in some country’s it falls to the sovereign or country’s leader to carry out execution, some allow summary execution for the highest capital offences like treason or other crimes against the state, some military law allows deserters to be shot by a commanding officer in a summary manner on the spot, so if you cut threw all the guff a rebel, a terrorist, a serving solder who has gone to the other side, people who have passed state or military information including whereabouts, force strength, weaponry, etc etc can all end up dead if captured as they will have ALL committed high state and military crimes so will be well beyond the scope of the ICC.
  22. If the image scale is correct then the wheel track of the moon buggy is ~1.98m (~6'6") which is about right and what you would expect.
  23. It is lame, because I can go to the USGS website to get their NED data set, download 5m or 10m DEM, get lots of different vector maps inc <1m resolution aerial photo, there are portals at JPL/NASA for similar data, you can go to the Census Bureau and get there Tiger/line vector/tiff/point data for sewers, power, and other services, demographics, etc etc, then augment that with Google earth, street view, etc, if I then head to the ESA portal for ASTER project images and if I am lucky with data grains I could get one that will cover ware I want at <1m resolution to also make <1m DEM, there are a host of places I can get low resolution daily images for ground cover or to infer actual daily water high of streams etc all perfectly geo-referenced, and I can do all that and it will cost me $0 just some time and at most the creation of a login or use of my logon created prior to 2001. I then fire up my 3D program to make buildings that I will need for the place I wish to plan my terrorist attack on US soil and I use all the GIS data I have with the BIS tools to assemble that in game, and hay presto Johnny Terrorist could plan an attack on any part of the USA largely without going there! If you went to the USGS a few years ago Iraqi and Afghanistan were also available at the same resolution as the NED and 30m and 90m SRTM for the world is easy to get warzone or not.
  24. Karl Benz (Benz & Cie/ Benz Söhne) the modern two- stroke petrol engine and first car amongst other things, also of note his wife Bertha Benz the inventor of easily replicable Brake linings and the first person to undertake a car journey of any significant distance (~106km) Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach AKA: DMG (Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft) the modern petrol 4 stroke engine (while working at Deutz-AG-Gasmotorenfabrik for/with Nikolaus Otto), first motorcycle, petrol engine boat, first true airship, first bus which was also the first vehicle to reach the dizzying speed of 10mph (~16kph) and other things. The union of DMG board and Benz & Cie to from Daimler-Benz AG was in 1926 and the thus naming of their vehicle brand Mercedes-Benz
