Use RivaTuner to monitor the GPU temps and to adjust the fan cooling. Set the video memory on high. -

Checked my CPU and it was much more loaded on crossfire. - I uninstalled my drivers 10.6: CPU loaded normal single Benchmark: lower FPS xfire Benchmark: much lower FPS single In-game: Same FPS Xfire In-game: Slightly higher FPS - After installing 10.4: xfire Benchmark: same total avg FPS but without framedrops in the beginning of a scene while loading the textures etc... much more steady FPS. xfire In-game: Higher FPS http://instantsfun.es/hallelujahshort -

I can't understand it anymore lol... My game benchmarks higher in crossfire, but the mission (pathfinding) lag like hell. When I disable crossfire it benches a lower but my campaign runs smoothly... :confused: -

Got my crossfire working, no significant performance increasement: It goes faster in-game, but the loading of the textures etc takes longer. Everything has to be loaded twice so on my ATI 2 x 512MB 3870 there's only 512MB available with xfire. Using only one core uses the full 1GB I guess. 1GB VRAM/GPU seems to be a minimum spec. 3870 X2 1GB -

Got my crossfire working, no significant performance increasement: It goes faster in-game, but the loading of the textures etc takes longer. Setting the Visibility from 5000 to 2666 gave me +5 FPS. Putting "Terrain&objects detail" from "High" to "Normal" gave me another five. But the advantage is only remarkable while loading the textures etc when starting a game. 3870 X2 1GB -

Ja you people should stop whining. If you want to experience fantastic war sim situations, you have to invest some time into the game as well. It makes the joy factor even bigger. OA actually runs pretty smooth, especially the CPU is much less loaded. It makes great use of multiple cores and if you have a decent 1GB GPU, it should run just fine. The VRAM is very important with ArmA2. 1GB per graphical core is strongly required. My experiences: - Visibility: As I said, the CPU is less loaded so you can increase the visibility without significant framedrops! You won't see much visual changes setting it over 5000, so "5000" should be just fine. When the VRAM (< 1GB) is an issue, decreasing the visibility will load everything (textures, objects etc) much faster and give you a huge perf. boost in the benchmark. - Texture detail: "Normal" gives the best balance between performance and visuals. - Video memory: It's very important that you have enough video memory, and that you set the amount of it right in the option menu: link. I put it on "High" with my 1GB GPU. - Terrain&objects detail: Putting it on "High" instead of "Normal" just slightly decreases the framerates (-1/2 FPS) but gives very remarkable visual changes. When the VRAM (< 1GB) is an issue, decreasing the visibility will load everything (textures, objects etc) much faster and give you a huge perf. boost in the benchmark. - Shadow detail: You barely notice the visual decreasement putting it on "Normal" i.o. "High" while focused playing the game. It gives a proper perf. boost in dense surroundings (+2/3 FPS). - Postprocess effects: If you enable it, put it on "Normal". It gives you proper visuals without the annoying slowdown while looking around on "High" and it loads your system just as heavy (or light) as on "Very low" and "Low". "Disabling" it saves like 2/3 FPS and you have a much sharper view which is more comfortable during fast and heated battle. On my 'old' Q6600 @ 2.6GHz, 3870 X2 1GB and 4GB RAM I run a decent 30 avg FPS on 1900x1080 res. Still can't get my crossfire working though :D
