I have the Steam version of arma2 , arma2oa and the British dlc. I have no problems joining 'normal' cd install servers etc. However, there are a few points he should be aware of... first, if your running arma2 only... arma2 oa wont see the server at all. if you start the server with ao, he needs to as well... sounds obvious? its not. combined ops makes it a bit different. steam version of combined ops, you have to run a BATCH file... tell him to find that batchfile, and run it. (or go into the steam browser and use the link there.) if you use mods, the steam version gets a bit messier... you can add the mods into the steam launcher... but your always stuck with them. instead, copy the batch file, and down at the bottom, you can add specific mods via commandline.. and u can have alot of diff setups for that with more than one batchfile. (hope i made sense! sometimes i go off on tangents lol) goodluck! gk

Well dangit. i figured it out. Last thing i wanted to try, was it. I had done the firewall stuff... 3 times. Checked the windows built in one, and my software one, uninstalled software one...(fixed another game issue lol) Went thru the ports in the router, forwarded them...(any suggestion, i did) this thread...i dont think anyone suggested this. By pass your router, directly into computer. yep..that worked. something is wrong with my router...(another router..sigh) so, for now, i gotta not play, until the wife/kid is asleep, then i can direct wire, and play for a few...(just remembering to reconnect before bed!!) until i get a new router.......someday. :) well, least i can play. Thanks for any thoughts you had, etc. gk

I have been fighting this problem for a few weeks. I bought both games at the same time off steam. dl/ install fine. Able to play sp for both. I search for server to join, find one i want. Join it. The connection screen pops up. I do not see the 'character selectable' spots, all names are greyed out at first. Only thing i can click on is the OK button. I can be dragged by the host to a slot. when it comes to receiving files, it stays at 0/0kb the entire time. waiting 20min no change. Reinstalled. Can start with Combined ops as well. same thing. this is same for BOTH games, separetly and combined. I have forwarded (indivually) ports 2302, 2303 and 2305 , i have my firewall Uninstalled , trying to get this to work. Turned off all of my other security etc. I was able to play the demo, and connect jsut fine. (uninstalled) any further questions/points CONTACT ME please. gk Side question: again for steam, where to put modfolders? I put them where i thoguht they should go, but cannot see the missions ingame either. (trying to get other opinions) (SP i can see them, mp i cannot) thanks.

having this issue. (or similar) get to connect in MP, hit the Ok button, and never receive files, Havent tried this fix yet. (which is odd, since its range, etc) but worth a shot! Tried several other things... gk

I was unable to get the Satchel from the ammo box. I could get other items just fine, but not that. odd i thought. gk
