Looking for some pointers on making big missions...
Blitzen replied to Blitzen's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Those look really cool, but both of those links seem to be dead...:( -
This might be a little off topic here but.... I was hoping to clarify once and for all that no one has made an AC-130 spectre gunship and that this is impossible for the OFP engine? I've done some searching throughout the forums but couldnt seem to find a definite answer. Thanks for the answer! **EDIT** Also, does anyone have a working link for Relliki's guerillas? The links at ofpr.info seem to be broken. Thanks!

Here is a link: Intelligent Patrols I do believe that it uses the enemydetected variable but I dont know how to add the Enemydeteced_A/B that you mentioned. Thanks

I've been searching and searching for some decent looking water assualt troops....I've tried the diver on ofpr.info as well as COC's divers. I was wondering if anyone could point me to Mapfact's combat divers? Thank you very much! :D

Can anyone point me to some good Russian desert troops? I tried ORCS motorized infantry pack, but couldnt get the desert version I guess? Thanks

Thank you very much! I had even PM'd him asking him to send me the script but then I noticed he hasnt been on in a long time haha :D

Greetings! I was doing some searching the other day for something that is unrelated and found out about Blanco's AI cover script. From what I've read about it, this seems like a must have for creating good urban combat fighting (something I really long for). I did some searching trying to find the script but alas all the DL links I found were dead :(. I was wondering if someone could post the script or send it my way? Any help would be very appreciated! :bounce3: Thanks!!

Best way to get the AI to support infantry w/armor
Blitzen posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Greetings, I've been trying tonight (morning?) to find a good way of forcing the AI to support infantry with armor (bmps). I've tried numerous ways namely through the use of waypoints. Here is what I've tried: Attempt #1 (Waypoints in order) *Transport unload *Have the BMP join the squad--Drivers got out of the bmp??? Attempt #2 (Waypoints in order) *Transport unload *Gave the BMP a guard waypoint on the squad leader--Worked well, BMP flanked but didnt really engage? Attempt #3 (Waypoints in order) *Transport unload *Gave the BMP a seek & deystroy waypoint next to the squad leader's and then syncronised the two waypoints. I thought this would make them arrive at around the same time?--The BMP just took off and left the squad behind, force got chewed up piece meal Anyways, this is what I've tried and I would REALLY appreciate it if someone could inform me as to whats the best method to get good cooperation between AI controlled squads and armor Thanks -
Best way to get the AI to support infantry w/armor
Blitzen replied to Blitzen's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Well that sounds like a more complicated method than what I've been doing :o. It looks good, however, I have some concerns. My two biggest concerns would be the fact that the BMP would run over people (which you mentioned) and that the BMP wouldnt be getting information from the squad members. When the BMP is a part of the squad, it then gets the advantage of the squad picking up enemy infantry positions. If the BMP is a squad member, Im hoping that this will allow it to engage enemy infantry more consistantly. I guess I need a way to keep a BMP/tank under control of an infantry squad, but still be able to pickup and drop off its fellow infantry squad members. Any suggestions as to how to do this? -
Could someone please point me in the direction of a large sized island with many big cities that are composed of nearly all enterable buildings. I would prefer something that isnt snow covered nor extremely mountainous. Thanks!

Urban Fighting (CQB) Help and commands needed!
Blitzen posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Greetings everyone! First off I would like to say that, being a new OFP user, I am totally loving this game! I've only had it for a few weeks and it is easily in my top favorite games of all time. With that being said.... I was wondering if anyone could give me some help/commands on how to make good urban fighting missions? Specifically, could someone please tell me how to fill a building/house with infantry and get them to stay standing up and to stay in place. I already know how to use the "setpos" and "setunit pos up" commands. However is there anyway to keep a unit from moving (so that he will stay at a specific window, etc.)? Also, is there any way to make a group of infantry move in the combat/tactical walk? Sort of like a "stack" formation? Last but not least, if you have any useful tips, advice, or commands that help out in creating urban battles then I would love to learn em :bounce3: -
Are there any weapon packs that include the M14 EBR? I have Dan's M14 pack, but its not that appealing to me. Are there any others? Thanks:D

Newbie Mission maker:command problem
Blitzen replied to Blitzen's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I believe I am in cadet mode and all settings are at default. I must note some other things. First, I am testing this in "preview" mode and have not exported it to a single player mission yet. Secondly, I am using SJB's (and subsequently JAM) weapon pack add on as well as BAS's little birds. Finally, I have moved my squads into a helicopter using the "this moveincargo XX" command. Despite all of these things, I have gotten it to work in another mission, so I doubt that the addons and scripts have any sort of effect. I must note that I dont see waypoints either....:( ****EDIT**** I did some searching and figured it out -
Just started making some missions for OFP and I'm having a recurring problem. Whenever I make a mission, I never have the green location squares appear on my squad members. I can command each member, give them orders, etc. but the green squares never appear over the squad members. Furthermore, none of the squad shows up on my map. I was wondering what causes this and how do you fix it? My character out ranks the other squad members and they are apart of my group, etc. Any help would be apprectiated

--Mods if this is the wrong section for this, then I apologize and please feel free to move it to where ever it needs to go I've been enjoying the FFUR-SLX 2007 2.5 mod but cant for the life of me figure out how to do a lean or prone roll. I've done some searching and the best that I've found is Shift + strafe button....? Is this true? Also does it still work if the shift button is already bound to something? Thanks
-
I dont know if this is the right place for this but.... Can anyone tell me how to make this: Laser's US Weapon Pack and subsequently JAM (Required by the weapon pack) to work with FFUR-SLX 2007 2.5??? Thanks

Anyone know of RPDs/RPKs with drum magazines? Thanks
-
Greetings all! I'm a newcomer to these forums as well as OFP. I've orderd the GOTY edition and decided to try out the demo to pass the time. After playing the demo, it is clearly evident that the game has a ton of potential and replay ability:D. However, I am hoping to modernize the game by installing some modifications. What I wanna know from some of you experienced players is: what are the best combination of modifications for a modern warfare experience? Major mods that have caught my eye have been FFUR 2007 (what does that stand for?), WW4 and some sort of configuration project modification?? My main goal is to go ahead and download all the patches and mods that I need so that I'm good to go once the game arrives. Any info you guys can give would be appreciated. Thanks for the help, Blitz

Any RPK/RPDs with drum mags? Always loved that weapon on Americas Army :)
-
Well the more the better I suppose  Have you guys tried out the combat mission series? They seem like the would be right up your guy's alley. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knows of any good squad command mods? Specifically one that simplifies the command giving and controls? Though the current squad commands are elaborate and seem to cover a broad spectrum of things, I find it cubersome to go through each menu to get to a specific command. Has anyone created a better system? Thanks

If I had a computer that could run ARMA 2 then I would be all over it :D. Things I enjoy most in a game are: gameplay, replay ability, and a challenge. I do not fall in love with games because they have pretty graphics. Since Operation Flashpoint has (hopefully) all of the things I like and my computer cant run ARMA 2, then the choice is simple. **EDIT** Plus it was cheap :D

I'm under the belief that there are two flavors of the FFUR mod? A 2008 edition which is meant to be within the same time frame of the original campaigns. The other would be the 2007 FFUR which has modern day units, weapons, vehicles, etc. Is this correct? Also, let me clarify: When I say I am looking for "modern warfare" I mean modern as in weaponry, vehicles, etc. Not necessarily modern/on going conflicts (the situation in the middle east). Though I wouldnt mind playing an on going conflict, like I said, Im really looking more for modern weaponry (as well as playing against an AI who also uses modern weaponry) Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the reply, really some good info in there! I especially enjoyed dslyecxi's OFP info. I will spend some time reading up on the squad/soldier commands. As I said, what I hope to do through modding is to create a realistic, modern day battlefield. Just from browsing around here, I know that you can mix mods. However, I was planning on downloading FFUR, which would be the bulk of the content, and then mixing in small additions. I guess my next request would be for someone to point me in the direction of a manual for FFUR or OFP (official). I just need something that will outline whats included in FFUR.
-
Well how would you compare WW4 to FFUR? Also, are compatibility issues common with mixing/multiple mods? Thanks
